Sterling-Bundy

Surprising most in the public, instead of expressing regret for his recently publicized racist comments, Clippers owner Donald Sterling announced that he will strike back at his critics by financing the startup of a new basketball league that will cater primarily to racists. The new league which he has initially named, “National Independent Basketball Backers Embracing Racists” (NIBBER) will feature players who sign lifetime employment agreements which bind them into servitude to their teams with only room and board for compensation.

Sterling has announced that he has recruited celebrity lawbreaker and racist rancher, Cliven Bundy as his right hand man, to head up the acquisition of players for the league and recruit racists to build their fan base.

Bundy expressed great optimism at the prospects of this new racist league, “I noticed that when I’m driving by the homes of unemployed black basketball players, they’re just spending their days getting abortions for their daughters and putting their boys in prison, probably dreaming of how much better it was in the old days when they could have been making three point shots into their burlap sacks with the cotton they picked.”

As to the fan base, Bundy says that for the militia types and right wing Republicans to whom he is quite popular, basketball and slavery is a real “twofer”.

While the concept of exploiting black men to get them to play basketball without getting paid may offend many Americans, the NCAA expressed bewilderment by the protests against it.

Sterling explained that the league will be primarily based in The South and that to protect the integrity of the fans attending, all those coming to games will have to provide an ID. He also described a new high tech scanning device that all fans will have to go through when entering the building that will make sure that they are carrying guns into the arena, have minimal brain activity and pass a skin color spectrograph that can discern between a white man with a red neck and non-whites.

Some possible team names that have been floated by Sterling and Bundy include, “The Charleston Chattel”, “The Houston Butlers” and “The Tennessee Involuntaries”.

Sterling, whose ownership of the Clippers may be jeopardized by his racism, says he is stunned by how the public has turned on him but insists that he will prevail. “I may be in the minority when it  comes to issues about race but the minority shouldn’t be oppressed and treated like they are beneath anyone else. With that in mind, I am committing myself to establishing this racism-based basketball league so that all of those who are in the minority with me can be judged not by the content of their character but by the color of their skin.”

“DISGRACED racist Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is battling cancer.

Sterling has been ill for years, and those around him are surprised he is still alive, sources told
The New York Post.

“They thought he would die two years ago,” one source said of Sterling, who on Tuesday was banned for life from the NBA for his now-infamous recorded racist rant.

“People have been predicting his imminent demise. I’m sure he has the best … drugs money can buy,” said the source, who works closely with pro sports teams.

“He can do anything to keep himself alive.”

The source said some of the medication Sterling has been taking is responsible for the puffy appearance of his face.

Another source said Sterling, 80, was specifically suffering from prostate cancer.

In an ironic twist, Sterling refused to pay for prostate-cancer surgery a decade ago for then-Clippers assistant coach Kim Hughes.

“I contacted the Clippers about medical coverage and they said the surgery wouldn’t be covered,” Hughes told The Journal Times of Racine, Wisconsin, in 2011.

“They said if they did it for one person, they’d have to do it for everybody else.”

Four Clippers players chipped in to cover the $70,000 cost.

Meanwhile, Sterling has been phoning friends for support, sources said.

“He’s calling everyone, saying: ‘Tell me I’m not a racist,’ ” a source said, noting that the friends are refusing, for fear that Sterling was recording them.

Sources said Sterling has also been telling friends that he doesn’t understand the public furore over his recorded comments to then-girlfriend V. Stiviano, whom he scolded for publicly “associating with black people” and told not to bring any black friends to “my games.”

I’m not going to say what I think.

I would like nothing better than to say what I think, but I’d have to “ban myself for life” from The Planet. 😉

Like minds, Kalima! We will get the satisfaction that, despite all his money and power, his lasting legacy will be his racism, not his ego-based ‘philantropy’.

He’s no philanthropist. I read that years ago he bid on some property promising to turn it into a homeless shelter. He got the property alright, and years later nothing has been done there. It was just a con job.

Yes, racism is about all he will be remembered for before people move on to the next jerk waiting in line. Plenty of those still out there.

Rochelle Sterling: The Clippers’ Cruella de Ville
by Michael Daly

If Mrs. Sterling has any intention of attending more playoff games—much less holding on to the team—she needs to explain her role in her husband’s effort to push out minority tenants.

The GOP/TP is alive and well in Australia ( known here as the Liberal Party!) Read this and weep!

“A KEY authority on race discrimination has blasted plans by Federal Attorney-General Senator George Brandis to “water down” the Racial Discrimination Act, saying new polling shows 88% of Australians opposed the change.

The amendments scrap section 18C of the legislation, the part which makes it illegal for someone “to offend, insult, humiliate or intimidate another person” on the basis of race, colour or background.

Three other sections – 18B, 18C and 18E – will also be removed, replaced by a section that would create rules against racial vilification.

The changes were proposed after News Limited columnist Andrew Bolt was successfully sued for claiming certain light-skinned Aboriginal people were pretending to be indigenous to benefit themselves.

Australia’s Race Discrimination Commissioner Dr Tim Soutphommasane said the sentiment shown in the Nielsen Poll published on Monday was in line with multicultural and indigenous communities, human rights groups and the legal profession.

“Racial tolerance is a pillar of Australian public morality,” he said.

“Today’s findings are an emphatic statement of our society’s commitment to civility, decency, and tolerance.

“It is an acknowledgement that race relations should be placed above politics or ideology.”

The Attorney-General’s office declined to comment on the proposed changes because they were out for consultation until April 30.

Senator Brandis has previously said the changes would be the first time that racial vilification is included in the Commonwealth legislation.

“Laws which are designed to prohibit racial vilification should not be used as a vehicle to attack legitimate freedoms of speech,” he said.

Shadow Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus said polling showed community was sending a clear message to the government.

“The time has come for Tony Abbott and Senator Brandis to listen to Australians and abandon their plan to water down protections against racial vilification and hate speech,” he said ” Source: Daily Mercury.

Note the ‘News Limited’ reference. Murdoch has clout with these creeps!
The upshot of this is that the GOP/TP want to be able to be bigots without breaking the law!

Well done, Adlib (again!) Why do these old white fossils always look like old white fossils?

Nirek

E’cat, NOT all old white men are like these idiots. I’m an “old white guy” and feel the same as you about almost all issues.

Nirek, I realized yesterday that I’ve been a little hard on the “old white guy” sector of the population myself and I think I owe you and the Planet an apology! I should have clarified that it’s the racist and/or sexist folks who produce the eye-rolling reaction. (And “white gal” Sarah Palin qualifies in that department.)

Not the good guys!

Nirek

Thanks Kes, but you are right about those who are racist and sexist being for the most part “old white men”. My point is that they are a minority of us older white men.

Perhaps the world is changing a bit. Perhaps the words we consider toxic are changing. Some folks act like this is the first time a person lost respect, credibility or standing over their words choices.

There was a time when saying nice things about people of color would cost you. Even the Supreme Court was disdainful of the rights of Blacks. Professional sports banned Black players. Social scientists promoted their theories of Black genetic inferiority.

Some in the GOP (Santorum, Gingrich, Trump, Limbaugh, etc.) are clinging to those days. And they are being outed at such a pace that the tired old defense that such comments are “isolated” no longer hold water.

Today, hateful language may get one in trouble, may come back to haunt. May cost money. There is a growing power among people of goodwill to go along with the long-held anger and frustration at negative speech and its former place of prominence.

And while there will still be pushback from those who insist that old days are over, the reality of the Donald Sterling, Cliven Bundy, Phil Robertson and others will force all of us to challenge our beliefs about others — and, hopefully, grow as a society.

Hey Jim, hopefully social evolution will not be as slow as the evolution of species.

I do believe that there are far more decent, accepting people than there are the haters and bigots. Lucky for us humans, we have language and arts to help the world change for the better. Artists are really instruments of change for a higher purpose. Writers, poets, painters, sculptors, dancers, musicians, actors all contribute to our betterment as human beings.

Big changes come slowly, but I think with the information age, the changes we need will come about a little bit quicker. That’s the great thing about the internet.

Here is a great example;

Exactly! Still, it’s not much of a punishment if he gains from it.

What he loses is prestige. He already had money anyway, so a bit more is no big deal. Besides, half of that loot is going to Mrs. Sterling…

😆 Hope she enjoys every penny of it after living with that creep.

You would think that with all of his money he would have had that ugly warlock wart removed from his wrinkled face. I don’t understand rich people sometimes. They have all that money yet they look like scarecrows. Good riddance!!

Well Unca Adverse, I wouldn’t go as far as that but am very much for relieving them of some of their assets through fair taxation and those pesky back-taxes they owe the government and the citizens. That of course means globally. If they leave in a mass exodus like they did in France rather than pay the higher taxes, well at least they won’t be sponging off the rest of us.

Marvellous, AdLib. A triumph! I’m waiting for the announcements of the coaches. One, for sure, will be Vlad ‘The Patriot’ Putin. I’ll be bidding for two franchises, the ‘Washington Whiteskins’ and the ‘Atlanta Cowards’. It may be difficult to tell teams apart, what with them all having white uniforms and helmets, the conical type, with 2 holes halfway down, but I’m sure that Nascar decals will feature prominently, and the games will be held at NRA Firing Ranges all around the country. Can’t wait!!

Hilarious AdLib!

That the conservative press have tried to paint Donald Sterling as a raving Democrat is also funny. Tomasky does a great job of trashing this bs.

Donald Sterling and the Neverending Fantasy of ‘Democrat’ Racism

Oh, how eager the conservative press is to call Donald Sterling a Democrat! It’s all part of their larger fantasy narrative about conservatism and race.

Megyn Kelly

Yes, it’s true. A few of them are a bit — shall we say — long in the tooth, but when you consider that it’s pretty likely that Bundy and Sperling (and probably all of the fans of this new league) have the severe cataracts that go along with being “color blind” older white guys, I don’t think they’ll notice those wrinkles and varicose veins on the “girls.”

If they are bothered by them, they can just pull those pointy hoods down a little bit so that their eyes don’t line up with the eye hole openings any more.

Ad, if it were not so sad it would be funny. We have too many bigots here in America. But like the President said “just let them keep talking” and they will show themselves to be what they are, racist jerks.

Too many bigots for sure pops. They have the right to say whatever crazy stuff they want, and we have the right to tell them they are morons and mock them relentlessly. Yay for freedom of speech 😀

Very good, Adlib. The only thing you forgot was to add Donald “the pimp” trump to the mix. A real three ring circus then.
