• choicelady : Well friends, slightly early this evening, we bid you all a good night. Rest well and enjoy the weekend!

  • choicelady : Hmm – last post did not post. Sweet dreams, KT!

  • choicelady : KT – enjoy the music, and let it sweep you away. Glad your weather is making you happy, too – that’s something joyous to savor. Sweet dreams, my friend!

  • choicelady : KT – your spiritual journey is positively awesome. And what you share with us is thought provoking and calls for real reflection. Because of you, I always have to think about things carefully. You don’t let knee jerk simplistic things go by unconsidered. That is a HUGE gift to all of us and especially to me!

  • KillgoreTrout : CL, I am somewhat bewtched by the music of Baker and Getz. So yeas, I’ll be drifiting away from VP. Have a lovely twilight.

  • choicelady : KT – are you wanting to go on or head for dreamland? I think bito is just signed on but not to VP. Feel free to do what you want!

  • KillgoreTrout : cL, there is nothing more appealing than the seeker, and finder of truth. Sexiness is temporal, truth is eternal. I am glad to have the privilege of seeing your work on nearly a daily basis. Your comments have enriched my existence, as with so many others here.

  • choicelady : bito – are you really there, dear friend?

  • choicelady : KT – you sort of reflect my desire, when I am SO overloaded, to be CLONED! Not quite that many versions though. How would my husband find the real me? Thank you though – I keep trying to make a difference. We don’t get much help. It’s not ‘sexy’ doing change work steadily and steadfastly. But we are part of a larger and more extensive group that is quietly altering the world for the better – though NOT without setbacks. But we shall keep on keeping on!

  • KillgoreTrout : Thank you CL. You do also. Your work is of a very noble nature IMO. I wish your heart could be replicated a million or so times over. Hell, a billion times over.

  • choicelady : KT – well you sure contribute to the caliber of the conversation!

  • choicelady : KT – spirituality has been the goal of almost every reformation I think. the leaders may not see it that way – power, control, institutional dominance yes. But the people on the ground want to find a way to connect with something more. It’s almost always eroded by new rules, new orthodoxy, but the impulse is there. This time, however, I think not only will it work – it will last. We have so many threads from purely internal spiritual seeking to faith-in-action around saving the planet, bringing the human family together, justice on every level – it matters that these threads are also pretty well respected by those NOT IN THEM. That is a huge difference from the purely secular ‘progressives’ that still have a tendency toward a kind of imperialism over their turf. This is NOT all from within mainline religion – but the generation of spirituality from every quarter is very exciting. Paul Hawkens’ book, “Blessed Unrest” deals with it (he has a web site as well) and it has nothing much to do with religion and everything to do with a transcendent ingathering of hope and joy and promise and hard work around justice that welcome everyone without reservation. It’s why I do what I do – it’s awesome.

  • KillgoreTrout : It’s funny, I often wonder if I’ll be able to stay late for VP, but I seem to have no trouble in doing so. I think I owe it to the caliber of thought and conversation.

  • KillgoreTrout : Golden slumbers Murph. Gald you showed up tonight.

  • choicelady : Murph – sleep well!

  • choicelady : Good night Murph – I did ask AdLib to connect us, but I guess he’s not yet done so. We can try again next week when he’s back?

  • KillgoreTrout : CL, i think that orthodox religions are an extended form of mythology. I don’t mean that in a negative way. Religion began as mythology, in every culture on Earth. I think what we need is a new religion, a new mythology that isn’t regarded as fiction. I agree with you all the way. I think genuine spirituality, with no vested interests is what may save mankind. Then again, maybe mankind was doomed from the start. If our treatment of the planet that is our home is any indication, I think we may be doomed.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Time for me to zip away…best to all

  • choicelady : KT – that’s lovely, thank you!

  • choicelady : Good night Sue – beat the computer to the finish line!

  • KillgoreTrout : «link»

  • KillgoreTrout : Sweet dreams, sleep heads. I would like to post Stan Getz and Chet Baker’s See You Again.

  • choicelady : SAbreen – go to UCC. It’s a DISORGANIZED religion!!! Seriously, I think adherence to a church is entirely up to whether you like the people and the sense of community or not. No need to be part of anything. I work for a faith organization doing public policy and do NOT belong to a church. Not at ALL. And I’m fine with that.

  • choicelady : KT – this is, I think, the “great shaking out” of our time between the churches that focus on spirituality and those that are wedded to rules. HUGE differences even within denominations, but it is the making of a new world of those who DO believe in spirituality and therefore inclusion. Of course the flip side to ‘one true god’ is the very funny reduction by the RW extremists to POLYTHEISM: MY GOD is better than YOUR GOD. And they don’t even see what they’re doing!!! Six thousand plus years of monotheism down the drain in a decade. Wow.

  • Sabreen60 : Nite Kes and I’m right behind you. Hope to see some of you on the Twitter, if not then next week.

  • choicelady : kes – Good night and sweet dreams!

  • KillgoreTrout : Smart lady Sabreen.

  • Sabreen60 : Nighty nite Sue. Take care!

  • KillgoreTrout : Thanks Sue, it’s really good to know.

  • choicelady : KQ – good night, sleep well. Nice to have you here

  • Sabreen60 : Good nite KQ – see you on the Twitter.

  • SueInCa : Well I am going to bow out too my pc is starting to make the warning sounds and is getting ready to race. I am afraid it will blow up on me soon. BFF they were super to me that is what I remember

  • choicelady : kes -yes, I know most hospitals at least in the East were headed by and run by nuns. Will indeed be interesting! The hospitals are very different.

  • KillgoreTrout : Sllep tight Kes, and enjoy those open windows.

  • kesmarn : Oops, just saw your comment, BFF! And yes, we do try to be nice to people. It’s amazing how many people of faith work at my hospital even though there are very few nuns still involved.

  • Sabreen60 : KT, I’m with you. Really, I have been a few roads. Born a Baptist, never converted to Catholicism but went to Mass with my cousin. Became an agnostic and was Muslim for ten years. I don’t want any part of organized religion.

  • SueInCa : KT I am right there with you.

  • KillgoreTrout : Have a great night KQ.

  • KillgoreTrout : It’s such a blatant misunderstanding . A continued, harmful misunderstanding . I think it keeps the human population from true progress. I can’t think of a more effective tether to disunity than the idea of a “one true god.”

  • kesmarn : Midnight here, and I think I’ll call it a day as well, KQ. Have a wonderful weekend, dear friends.

  • choicelady : Murph – I will indeed want as much publicity as I can get. Just waiting for some kind of wrap up.

  • SueInCa : I tell you I was in a catholic hospital once and I thought they were great. Between St Marys and Washoe medical I would rather be at St Marys. The nurses were way nicer Night KQ and BFF I guess that is why you work at one?

  • KQµårk 死神 : Good night all I’m gonna bow out early.

  • choicelady : KQ – I agree. I wonder what our kids and grandkids will think of their “good old days” in movements WE took for granted but that now are so political they’re uncomfortable. Even things that SEEM easy – “Good News Clubs” for boys and girls are stealth programs to bring Dominionism into the schools with afterschool programs that indoctrinate kids who then “carry the message of born again superiority” to their classrooms which is NOT ILLEGAL. Holy smokes!

  • SueInCa : KT Adlib and I had this spirituality talk one day here. You are right. Most of the organized religion does not understand spirituality

  • kesmarn : Yes, CL. With this squaring off between the Vatican and the LCWR, everyone has to wonder how this will play out. After all the nuns are technically still in control of the hospitals.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : CL…again once you are ready to go public, can you provide us with allof your info…I do have two journalist contacts who would love the info.

  • choicelady : kes – you asked if they were not required to insure, but many Catholic agencies are fewer than 50 people. So…

  • KillgoreTrout : When I see all the division, bigotry, the time honored concept of “the other,” I have no use for orthodox religion. I don’t want to offend or condemn anybody that does, but my mind and my experience tells me that orthodox religion lacks true spirituality. Isn’t spirituality what religion is supposed to be about?

  • SueInCa : Ok CL I will put it out there from time to time during the day.

  • choicelady : Murph – once I find out the total range of this, I will DEFINITELY let you all know! It NEEDS to go nationwide before the action takes place.

  • choicelady : kes – did NOT know you worked for a Catholic hospital. Missed that along the way. A good friend (used to be in Cleveland until a few months ago) who heads a national interfaith health organization said she did NOT think the hospitals “hauled the Bishops’ water” which is why I’m trying to sort this out clearly. It may NOT be universal so I want clarity and accuracy about who’s doing what before I go whole hog. Sue – the October Surprise is perfect – no details but a clear query to get people ready. I think that workd!

  • SueInCa : KQ that is all part of the plan. When you politicize those things it is easier for the RR to move in and take over. You get used to seeing it and then bam you are hit in the face with theocracy.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Personally I hate how everything is politicized these days. Businesses, religion and even the friggin’ Boy Scouts.

  • SueInCa : I have no problem doing it. Next thing you know they will be subpoening my twitter records LOL Anyone know a good attorney?

  • choicelady : Sue – OH – I LIKE THAT!!! Bishops’ October Surprise!!!!

  • choicelady : KQ – It think you’re right that this will backfire on the Bishops totally. But they think it will fall on Obama. But that’s why I’ve warned HHS – once they are forewarned, they can prepare for it.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : CL when you are ready to out this…can you let us know where you are doing this….I think we can ALL spread the word…I have some contacts that would be very interested….

  • kesmarn : It’ll be interesting to see what the Catholic hospital I work for decides to do. At this point we haven’t heard a word about anything like this. I think they’d be hard put to spring that at the last second.

  • SueInCa : Ok CL I will think about how to go about it but I will put something out there. “So what are the Catholic Bishops planning as an October surprise”? Like that

  • KQµårk 死神 : I hate to be cynical here CL but Catholics will blame the Bishops not Obama. After all if they cut their healthcare insurance Obamacare is the only way they can get insurance at a low premium.

  • choicelady : I have one friend, a nun, who calls Benedict “the Rat” and says he is NOT Catholic! Of course she tells me and other friends – she’s too old to lose her pension now! But I think we’re watching the last gasp of a dying institution. ONLY reason the US church is growing is immigration.

  • choicelady : kes and Sue – I really want to out the whole thing all at once. But you can do what you want about it! I am beyond furious especially at the hypocrisy that they hate Ryan on governmental support for the poor BUT are willing to risk an entire election with their strategies. STUPID and VENAL and SELFISH. I agree Murph – what ARE they thinking?

  • SueInCa : And 98% of catholic women use contraceptive but it is the old fashioned bishops and their adoration of the pope. the same pope who addressed all of Africa telling them condoms do not prevent aids

  • KQµårk 死神 : The thing is CL they are not even paying for the contraception coverage.

  • SueInCa : It is that small man in the vatican you know the one who covered up sexual abuse? I am sorry but Catholic leaders have really turned me off the church.

  • choicelady : Sue – I’m waiting for some more info on the extent of this. I will DEFINITELY let you know if I can find out who all is involved. If it’s universities and hospitals, too – it all needs to be outed at once. I will definitely keep you all posted. It breaks my heart that good people would stoop this low! They honestly feel persecuted by having to provide health insurance WITH contraceptive coverage for the employees who want it even though it costs them NOTHING extra. Horrible!

  • SueInCa : So Cl what is the harm of writing it on twitter? No one will know where I heard it.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : CL How do these Bishops think that the action you outline will help their cause?

  • choicelady : KQ – what horrifies me is that both the people who said this to me are beloved friends. They are furious with Obama and cannot see that, as groups taking US tax money, they are under Civil Rights laws of equal access. I never thought they’d defend the Bishops’ stance! But they are and yes – they think CATHOLICS will blame Obama. I’m thinking Catholic and NON Catholic employees are gonna know EXACTLY whom to blame – Bishops!

  • SueInCa : Kes beat them to the punch. See how they like it

  • kesmarn : Also, if they employ more than 50 people are they not mandated to provide coverage for their employees?

  • SueInCa : CL It is an email I will forward it on

  • kesmarn : That’s a good thought, BFF. Better forewarned.

  • SueInCa : CL so why not out them on every twitter feed? Break the news for them. Their employees will be furious. I will do it

  • KQµårk 死神 : CL I don’t see how they could get away with that without backlash against them. I mean would Jesus tke away people’s healthcare coverage for political purposes.

  • choicelady : Sue – yes please send it. Do you still have our address? If not, I will email it.

  • SueInCa : CL I have an email raising money for the right from Catholic group. Do you want it? I was going to report to the IRs

  • choicelady : SAbreen and Sue – they may not walk it back, but Obama overwhelms their idiocy. What the voting public remembers is the OBAMA message. That happened in 2008 and is happening again – to wit, the Medicare issue. NO ONE believes that Obama gutted Medicare!

  • choicelady : Everyone – I have one bombshell (and I’ve outed the people involved) I’m trying to stop. I have it from TWO different Catholic leaders that just before the election, Catholic Charities and perhaps other institutions will announce to their employees they are no longer providing health care. They will give each one $2000 and tell them to find their own in the Exchanges or wherever. That is targeted for just DAYS before the election. It could be horrible – but I’ve already passed it on to a high ranking HHS person to pass onto Sibelius etc. I find that utterly despicable because EVEN the Bishops hate Ryan. What DO they think they are doing? They could easily wait until 2013 since no mandate kicks in until Jan. 2014.

  • KillgoreTrout : Romney/Ryan and company are clearly in panic mode. Their attempts at voter fraud are in the spotlight, and they know they have limited themselves to rich white guys who desparately cling to power. The world only moves forward, something they will never accept, or understand.

  • kesmarn : I just received a DVD in the mail that I’ve not even been able to bring myself to open. I’m thinking I’ll lose my lunch. Some guy named “Joel Gilbert” put it out and it’s called “Dreams From My Real Father — a Story of Reds and Deception.” GAG.

  • SueInCa : CL everyone hears the lie but almost no one hears the retraction

  • Sabreen60 : Cl, I think they just throw everything against the wall to see what sticks. If you notice they don’t walk back much. They didn’t walk back the “he didn’t build that” or that PBO removed the work provision from welfare. I think they walk back stuff when it’s in writing, but not always then.

  • SueInCa : You learn all kinds of terms when you cruise on Twitter for a bit. There is also Mittidiot but I like Mittnocchio better

  • KQµårk 死神 : On the Ed Show tonight he picked out 11 lies that Romney and Ryan said just this week.

  • choicelady : Sue! GREAT – Mittnocchio!

  • KQµårk 死神 : CL the GOP only cares about their base and they know their base does not care about lies.

  • KillgoreTrout : One of the egregious lies from Romney was when he tried to take credit for the bailout of the auto industry. I mean, geeze, they don’t come more blatant that that. Or do they? You never know with today’s “conservatives. “

  • KQµårk 死神 : Yup sue your are right and love the moniker for the liar.

  • choicelady : Sabreen and everyone – why do the GOP insist on saying these outrageous things such as the auto plant closure in 2008 when they KNOW they will just have to walk it back. This sort of tactic did NOT work in 2008 nor will it in 2012. I am wondering about this film, “2016” by the RW creepy columnist Denish D’Souzia (OK I can’t spell that) who supposedly has “all the dirt” on Obama’s REAL past.

  • kesmarn : “Mittnocchio”! I love it, BFF!

  • SueInCa : Didn’t Mittnocchio also lie about a plant that closed under Bush?

  • KQµårk 死神 : Yeah that was unbelievable Sabreen. I’m starting to think Ryan maybe even a bigger liar than Romney, NAH

  • SueInCa : I know Cl but sometimes I would like to be smarter on those things I just never had an aptitude for it. Sabreen I know wondr if Janesville people are listening really listening

  • Sabreen60 : Sue, Ryan lied to his audience and said that PBO failed to help the auto plant in 2009, when it closed in 2008 under Bush.

  • choicelady : Sue and KQ – I bet it’s in the works. I can hardly wait for Newt to eat his words in public!

  • KQµårk 死神 : Yeah Sue I thought an add with Newt’s quote would be out by now.

  • choicelady : Sue – we all learn from YOU on the RW religious zealots. You’ve unearthed things I didn’t know after years of studying them. So we all share what we know.

  • SueInCa : KQ that would be a great ad showing gingrich talking about ryan

  • KillgoreTrout : KQ, it’s telling how fast Gingrich back peddaled on his social engineering remark. But, it was a rare moment of truth coming from that slimeball.

  • SueInCa : CL I know I feel stupid sometimes no offense KQ

  • choicelady : Sabreen – I think Ryan’s being “outed” a lot by even MSM on his hypocrisy.

  • choicelady : Sue – KQ is our resident wonderkind on science and technology. He knows tons of great stuff!

  • KQµårk 死神 : Sabreen all in all Ryan votes added $5.6 TRILLION to the deficit. He’s not a deficit hawk. Gingrich was right, he’s a right wing social engineer.

  • SueInCa : Sabreen and still his district(at least Janesville) is in serious fiscal trouble. Their ui is way above the national average.

  • choicelady : KQ – yes – sequestration is important. I know almost nothing about it, but in Poland they were coal washing with wood that leeched out the sulpher and other things. What the HELL you do with the wood I don’t know (we were having things translated – we got just so far) but the coal is MUCH better for air pollution standards.

  • SueInCa : KQ you sure know alot about science. I shoulda paid closer attention but I was an english freak

  • Sabreen60 : Ryan said on more than one occasion that he didn’t take Stimulus money. Then when the letters asking for money became public he lied and said he had forgotten about the letters and pretty much blamed them on his staff. He’s a fiscal conservative, but voted for TARP, the auto bailout, the tax cuts, Medicare D the Wars and took as much as he could get his grubby little hands on for his district. Yet he has sold the stupid base a bill of goods.

  • choicelady : kes – Yup. Some of the stories I’ve read from many different people around the country are enough to curl your hair. It’s downright scary how evil some of these “Christians” are and how without a shred of conscience.

  • SueInCa : CL I never read that but after reading Mikey’s book I am not surprised. And seeing some real live letters.

  • KQµårk 死神 : There is cleaner coal CL I agree but it’s costly and that’s why they don’t really want to do it in the US. You can technically sequester CO2.

  • kesmarn : CL, that’s astonishing. And awful!

  • choicelady : kes – I’ve read some horrific emails (redacted on names)from military families where the wife is considered the ‘wrong’ kind of Christian and Dominionist commanding officers and superiors direct her, when she gets pregnant, to have an abortion and even for them to divorce. I am NOT MAKING THIS UP. Nor are they. It’s stuff received and verified by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. It’s horrific – so much for “pro life”. Yeah – expensive ma and pa are next. Nothing cannot be rationalized by the “Elect”.

  • SueInCa : Sometimes I get so weary thinking about all the hate and vitriol, the lack of respect for the office of the president, the unspoken hatred of a black man in a white house, the snide remarks about Flotus. Sometimes I can see where a person would pull a CO. Not that I ever get that bad but there is just so much hate in this country and most of it coming from the right. I wonder how they deal day in and day out with so much hatred

  • KQµårk 死神 : «link» Sorry to link to Huff n Puff.

  • KQµårk 死神 : I just read where they caught Romney in another lie. He claimed his offshore accounts were not tax havens but now we find out he uses an offshore scheme to hide gains from the IRS after all.

  • KillgoreTrout : CL, LOL! ;)

  • choicelady : KT – then I had better get buckyball nano technology going here. LOTS left to do.

  • kesmarn : So true, BFF. Sometimes I wonder how much longer it’ll be before the “pro-life” RW legalizes euthanasia. Solves so many “problems.”

  • choicelady : kes – LOL!!! Ryan’s mama better look out indeed!

  • KillgoreTrout : CL, the Cannon, The Great Book of western literature is so extensive. I would need at least 150 years to grasp it all.

  • choicelady : kes – it creeped me out to see coal miners for Romney when more coal is being mined under Obama than before. I see this as racist BS. There IS such a thing as “clean coal” – encountered it in England and Poland. Not perfect, but it’s what cleaned up London fogs and ended the grime of the nation’s buildings. So Obama is NOT throwing the industry under the bus with the EPA but challenging it. Miners – UMW – had better get on board with Obama because Romney will find ways to close mines, eliminate safety, and kill off jobs with mechanization.

  • SueInCa : No Kes they have money she will be taken care of the rest of us just do not matter and that is the bottom line. We just don’t matter to the RWNJ

  • KQµårk 死神 : Awesome CL a buckyball nano tech reference.

  • kesmarn : Ryan’s momma better stay healthy. Sonny’s already got one hand on the ventilator plug, Sabreen.

  • SueInCa : When all else fails bring out the widowed mama. no matter that she is probably a cruising mama and/or remarried

  • KQµårk 死神 : Sorry for the confusion CL. ;-)

  • choicelady : KQ – WHEW! That makes MUCH more sense! Thank you!

  • KQµårk 死神 : Ann Romney reminds me of the soup Nazi. “No more returns for you!”

  • Sabreen60 : Charlie Pierce calls Ryan the “zombie-eyed granny-starver from Wisconsin. Ryan is stumping in FL with his momma.

  • KillgoreTrout : I thought so too Sue.

  • choicelady : KT – I’m lucky I got a good exposure to many of the classics early on. Still won’t catch up with all that needs to be read though! Read in the righthand RSS news though that buckyballs appear to have properties that will let us live to 150. Hope that means in good health so I can keep reading!

  • kesmarn : How could any working person possibly see R-Money and Ryan as people who represent them and their interests?

  • SueInCa : Oh I was confused there for a minute. Thanks

  • KillgoreTrout : I think Ann Romney is the classic RW subservient wife. Not only RW subservience, but Mormon subservience as well. That’s a pretty potent combination that could lead to a whole lot of anger.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Sorry 70% DON’T want to change Medicare.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Like someone said on MSNBC last night you really could not make up a worse story in these tough times of a presidential candidate with a dressage horse and taking a write off for it more than the vast majority of Americans make in a year.

  • SueInCa : KQ by change medicare what did they mean

  • KillgoreTrout : No guilt necessary. There are so many books I would love to read, but just don’t have the time required. The classics alone are far too much to read and comprehend in a human life span.

  • SueInCa : My favorite tweet is @AnnDRomney sure is an angry white woman

  • choicelady : KQ – confused on the 70% want to change Medicare??? How?

  • kesmarn : That is happy news, KQ.

  • KQµårk 死神 : The Kaiser poll just out is murder for Romney. People trust Obama 53-40% on healthcare and over 70% of seniors want to change Medicare while 23% don’t.

  • choicelady : Sabreen – THAT is what she reminded me of! The bitch in “The Help”!!!!

  • choicelady : KT – haven’t read it but do know about it. It’s on my “guilt pile” of unread books!

  • SueInCa : I call Ann the angry white woman

  • Sabreen60 : Ms. Ann could have had a starring role in “The Help”. She talked to both interviewers as if they were her hand maidens.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : KQ….Ann as the rich bitch….angry at the impudence of the little people make demands of their betters.

  • SueInCa : I read it KT it is excellent

  • choicelady : Ann is Marie Antoinette. She needs to go see the new film and learn a lesson or two.

  • KQµårk 死神 : CL it’s so disingenuous and they can’t even get their stories strait. Obviously it’s because they hate Medicare. It would be like Obama trying to sell something he hates like increasing tax cuts for the rich. It’s just unnatural and it shows.

  • KillgoreTrout : CL, maybe you have read it already, but there is a great book about the lead up to the Iraq invasion. It’s called “The Greatest Story Ever Sold,” by Frank Rich.

  • SueInCa : I guess CL I just won’t praise her for actually doing the job she is supposed to do. Now I will for her specials because she touches on many important subjects

  • choicelady : KQ – yes, the Medicaid cuts will force families to pick up the tab for their elderly relatives. Leads to divorce, loss of the family home, to generational impoverishment. Hey – GREAT policy, R&R!!!

  • SueInCa : KQ I saw a commercial on that already. Your mom will no longer be able to stay in a mursing home what are you going to do?

  • choicelady : Sue – I agree about O’Brien in principle, but it’s such a rarity among today’s “journalists” that we ARE making a big deal so it sends a message to her bosses – and all the others, too!

  • Sabreen60 : KQ – good one. Ryan is as big a liar as Romney. Romney is a little better at it. I don’t know if any one of them is as good at lying as Palin, but they are all right up there together.

  • kesmarn : KQ, I’ve been wondering what the CEOs of these mega-chains of nursing homes think about the RR plan. It will bankrupt them. And they are members of the 1%!

  • KQµårk 死神 : How did everyone like the angry white lady Ann Romney interview? She’s as cold as RMONEY.

  • SueInCa : Oh I know that KT I just know both Clinton and Bush saw the document. Clinton at least gave it a pass Bush put the assholes in his administration.

  • choicelady : KQ – I LOVE that Ryan is now backpeddling saying they will spend MORE on Medicare than Obama. Oh? Then why change it? Obviously you’re NOT interested in reducing the deficit that way if you’re going to spend MORE.

  • KQµårk 死神 : People also don’t realize 6,000,000 seniors on Medicaid will be uninsured. Most of that money goes to nursing homes and to make up for holes in Medicare.

  • SueInCa : But not hero worship she was doing what they all are supposed to be doing. It is like she is the queen for doing her effin job. I just don’t like it and won’t congratulate her for doing the job she trained for.

  • KillgoreTrout : Sue, absolutelu correct. Pre-emptive military strikes and regime change was their main philosophy. But they did lie in trying achieve their goals. They lied big time.

  • KQµårk 死神 : CL add the fact that Obama added EIGHT years of solvency to the program where Romney’s recent cynical position of ending all Medicare cuts and new benefits would make Medicare start running red by 2016. But then again that’s what R and R want so they can implement their horrible plan.

  • choicelady : Sue – the reason she is noteworthy is that she actually practed journalism! That deserves our shout out because it will make CNN and NBC and others DO THEIR JOB if we show we approve of her forthright manner!

  • choicelady : Message from Obama on Medicare – I cut WASTE,FRAUD, ABUSE out of Medicare, lowered premiums and expanded services. What have YOU done for Medicare Mr. Romney?

  • Sabreen60 : KQ, I thought the same thing. When I can take MSNBC and Steele is on he actually makes sense from time to time. He knows what side his bread is buttered on, but he’s not bat shit crazy.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Sabreen is that the Third Reich Triplets?

  • choicelady : Anyone with an ounce of sense can see that Medicare is BETTER than before. It costs seniors $15 per month LESS, and they are getting hugely more services FREE. it has slowed the growth in outlays so much it has extended the life for another decade without altering anything else.

  • kesmarn : It’s almost as though the RW took Orwell as their (irony) “guide.” They really do — very consistently — accuse the president and other Dems of doing what they’re doing. It’s non-stop projection.

  • KillgoreTrout : Not to sound too much like a conspiracy theorist, but the timing of this shooting is suspect. And why did a guy just a few feet away from the guard only shoot him in the arm? Seems to me that if this guy really wanted to murder people, he would have killed the security guard, outright.

  • SueInCa : What about whats her name on CNN? I don’t know about everyone else but I certainly do not think she deserves the almost worship just because she actually did her job. Soledan O’Brien

  • KQµårk 死神 : CL I usually give Republican presidents a chance to lead. I did that with Bush after 911 and of course he was an epic failure. But if Romney and Ryan are elected I won’t give them one day of quarter because they will solely get elected on lies.

  • choicelady : KQ – Preibus should be smacked down for such an atrocious lie!

  • SueInCa : CL then I was right the first time

  • SueInCa : KT and KQ the PNAC never once pretended it was anything less than imperialism. It was all through their document

  • Sabreen60 : CL, Reince, Romney, Ryan and the other Rethugs are accusing PBO of gutting Medicare and harming seniors. He had the nerve to say this on TV.

  • choicelady : Sue – media are the 4th Estate. It’s from the pre-Revolutionar y French class/caste system.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Reibus reminds me of Rove he is the king of the lying trolls. He actually makes me miss Steele.

  • choicelady : KQ – I’m totally with you. AFter 15 years on the lines with anti-abortion zealots I have learned you do NOT make any progress meeting them on THEIR own terms – they are like Pod People and feed off our anger and energy. Indifference and scrupulous attention to the law is all that helps. You are spot on with your observations.

  • KillgoreTrout : KQ, I agree. Pre-emptive military strikes are like arresting someone because you THINK they are going to commit a crime. It’s just simple, old fashioned imperialism.

  • kesmarn : Yes, KT. The windows will be open tonight! And hello to Sabreen! How are you?

  • KQµårk 死神 : CL Reibus actually said Obama has blood on his hands when lying about Obama’s Medicare cuts that actually increase benefits.

  • SueInCa : Or is the media the 5th estate?

  • SueInCa : Sabreen the 4th estate is worthless unless you watch Democracy Now. Kes fine and you? I know you are working alot

  • Sabreen60 : Hey Kes!

  • KillgoreTrout : Hey Homie! I bet you’re loving this weather now. I know I am.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Of course I want the whole story too CL. But it just won’t change my opinion about what he did.

  • choicelady : WHAT blood on Obama’s hands??????

  • kesmarn : Hola to you, KQ! Whew…finally broke through. And hey, BFF, how are you?

  • choicelady : kes – we saw you earlier. So sorry you had trouble knocking on the door!

  • Sabreen60 : The media is useless. I cannot believe that the media is not talking about Sheldon Adelson being under investigation at the same time giving millions to Romney. And Ryan just went to kiss his ring this week. Imagine if PBO were meeting with gambler under investigation. And don’t get me started on that little pissant Reince Priebus saying that PBO has blood on his hands.

  • SueInCa : Hey there BFF long time no see

  • choicelady : KQ – I REALLY want to hear what can be learned about this recent would be shooter. I actually wonder if he IS gay or prochoice or something else. Maybe he didn’t think these loonies were mean enough? We have no info. Just assumptions. But if he IS gay or prochoice or whatever – it MUST NOT KEEP HAPPENING. It does not help our causes at all!

  • KQµårk 死神 : KES hola!

  • KQµårk 死神 : KT one of the Nuremberg charges was waging aggressive war. The Iraq War would fill that criteria.

  • KillgoreTrout : They say he worked a greeting desk for an LGBT organization. I really don’t have any verifiable facts to go on, but this story just doesn’t smell right.

  • SueInCa : KT that is exactly what my premise was for what I said about Bush. How many innocent lives died because Bush lied

  • kesmarn : Good evening, Planeteers. I’ve been cache clearing and cookie tossing for 45 minutes. I hope I can finally manage to say something besides: “I hate spam.”

  • choicelady : KT – that is not over the top conspiracy. That is grounded in law and a resonable interpretation thereof.

  • KQµårk 死神 : I don’t care what the guys politics were. Violence is not the answer. I hate to say there is probably some right wing lone wolf out there that wants to attack a liberal group in response. That’s how violence works.

  • KillgoreTrout : I did accuse Bush/Cheney of being war criminals, and I still do. The sheer number of innocent lives taken is simply not justifiable by any standard.

  • choicelady : KT – who WAS this guy anyway? WE got a PR alert from the RW crazies announcing without a shred of irony that the guy had a 9 mm, a large ammo clip, and 15 Chik-Fil-A sandwiches.

  • SueInCa : Oh CL I actually did say something really mean about him not sure if I really meant it but I did believe it at the time. I only said it to hubby but still I did say it.

  • KillgoreTrout : CL, the shooting there was most unfortunate for the gay rights and pro choice movements. Makes me wonder.

  • SueInCa : KQ I know it is amazing how he thinks he can do this without paying the price. God George must be rolling in his grave.

  • choicelady : KQ – Obama. The only adult in the room.

  • choicelady : Sue – LOL!!! You never wished or threatened Bush with harm. You only called him out – and that’s not threatening! Just accurate!

  • KQµårk 死神 : Sue taking a line from VP Biden. All Romney says is ‘noun verb (insert lie here)’.

  • SueInCa : Cl and he would have a right to complain. It is just a shame that people in this country are so juvenile and angry. I don’t think the vitriol towards bush was ever that bad except from me.

  • choicelady : KT – that’s the truth. Now the American Family Council or whoever is claiming the Southern Poverty Law Center was responsible for the incident yesterday and that they have to take AFC off the “hate” list because now THEY are victims. My word of wisdom after 40 years with these horrific people – do NOTHING that gives them a chance to be martyrs. Oh sure PROSECUTE them for crimes – but otherwise leave them to their own devices. They revel in phony martyrdom.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Yup including that batshitecrazy guy from Megadeath.

  • KillgoreTrout : KQ, not only the “Family,” organization shooting, but Colorado as well. The far right loonies are saying Obama ordered these killings to promote anti-gun laws. Of course they are batshit crazy, but that’s what they are claiming.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Absolutely CL. Yet you still don’t see Obama crying about the threats in public.

  • SueInCa : KQ and Bibi going on with that nonsense that he and Mitt were not long term friends total lies

  • choicelady : KQ and all – I have a friend whose best friend’s husband (OK is this confusing?) is Secret Service. He told my friend that the Obamas finally told SS NOT to tell them about the threats because they are too numerous, too ugly, too scary. There are more than for ANY other president. But you may have noticed that the President and First Lady no longer have “date night”. Cannot risk it. What a damned shame.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Absolutely Sue can you imagine Romney being able to go toe to toe with the likes of Putin. He already got his knee pads on for the thug Bibi.

  • SueInCa : I knew that one was coming. They hate the SPLC

  • Sabreen60 : But KT, I don’t remember Repubs whining as much as they are now. I couldn’t believe that Mitt came out and actually asked PBO to stop talking about his business record and his taxes and Mass Governor record. It was just unbelievable.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Yup you see the FRC hater Tony Perkins already blame the shooting of the guard on SPLC and then Obama. FFS!

  • SueInCa : I was wronged KT I was wronged (they are watching aren;t they?) Whiny ass biyatches

  • choicelady : Sabreen – LOL!! Yup – Black people can pretty much stand up for themselves and let the world know if they were offended or not.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Great point KT. You have a much better recollection of the time I’m sure.

  • KillgoreTrout : KQ, rithies love to play the martyr. Especially fundamentalist righties.

  • KQµårk 死神 : President Obama not only puts up with hateful speech from the right. Remember that he gets about double the death threats of any recent president, probably allot more. So this faux outrage is jut bullshite.

  • SueInCa : Sabreen and that was just a week or so ago. short memories on the right except they see nothing wrong when they do it

  • KillgoreTrout : KQ, they really went after Kerry because of his participation in war crimes hearings. Kerry was absolutely right in participating in such hearings. There were many eye witnesses to the atrocities that American participated in. Mia Lai is not the least of them.

  • SueInCa : actually KQ it smacks of weakness

  • Sabreen60 : CL, you know most black folks don’t really need anyone to tell them is or is not racist. If blacks in the audience were not booing him, then I don’t think they were offended. Now if he had said that President Obama doesn’t understand the Anglo Saxon whatever, then you would heard some noise.

  • KQµårk 死神 : I’ll say it. Romney is a fucking whiny little biotch. I never saw a bully as thin skinned as this guy. Besides hard core Republicans no one buys him pulling the victim card.

  • SueInCa : D-E-S-P-E-R-A-T- I-O-N is the flavor of the month with these people. Voter ID laws the whole shebang smacks of desperation and knowing they cannot win on the up and up

  • KQµårk 死神 : Sabreen I agree with your perspective on Biden. I don’t think gaffes hurt him that much because people see it as Joe being Joe.

  • choicelady : Murph – that’s what every Black commentator said. NONE of them took the ‘chains’ comment badly. When white people who hate Black people are “outraged” at a supposedly racist comment by their enemy, you KNOW it is an act of sheer desperation.

  • SueInCa : Thanks Sabreen although I know I am going to get angry

  • Sabreen60 : Here’s a link to the story detailing the swiftboat effort. «link»

  • KillgoreTrout : Hey Sabreen, good to see you. You make an excellent point. No matter if he does make some questionable comments, his heart is in the right place. He’ on our side. The people’s side.

  • choicelady : KT – it is my belief that nothing Kerry said in his younger days was wrong. The difference then is that now we’ve all seen it with our own eyes. It cannot be revised – it’s too fresh in our memories.

  • SueInCa : If Obama wins again they are really going to go off the rails. But for the last 4 years Obama no longer has to be mr nice guy. He can speak for the middle class what are they gonna do Impeach him for talking?

  • KQµårk 死神 : That’s the whole problem with trying it again KT. People know it’s politically motivated. Plus voters totally give Obama the credit due getting OBL where voters even after the knew the Vietnam war was wrong were still a bit conflicted about Kerry’s war protests which was what the Swift Boat ads were really about.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : About Biden and his chained comments. I know a community organizer in Virginia who was at the rally….the comments from the blacks in the crowed was “that’s right, that’s what they want to do.” Biden said what many African Americans are feeling. The assault on social programs, public schools, college funding, workfare, voting rights sure feels like someone is rolling out the chains….

  • KillgoreTrout : KQ, you are absolutely right. They pulled it off with kerry, but there is no way they can diminish the importance of killing bin Laden, which is exactly what they are trying to do.

  • choicelady : Murph – indeed, but if any retaliation comes, they will holler they’re being persecuted. I say promote them, send them to tulle Greenland, and…

  • SueInCa : cl see my comment below it is desparation they ar elosing the battle

  • choicelady : How could you be a SEAL, be proud of the other SEALs who killed bin Laden, and furious at the WH? Obama honored the men who did the job. What’s the MATTER with people anyway?

  • KillgoreTrout : I really have to wonder why this special ops bullshit wasn’t spoken of until now, 2 mere months away from election time. It’s so obvious what the GOPers are trying to do. They want to diminsh the killing of bin Laden. A killing or capture that Bush said he would accomplish.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Admiral Mullen and General McRaven have made it clear that they fully supported and still support how Obama handled the whole thing. The Dems need to assemble their own Seal Team and “take these jaspers out” figuratively for disloyalty to the Commander in Chief, for holding Obama to a standard they did not hold Bush to, for lying about the information being provided, and for dishonoring their own service. Hit them hard and low.

  • Sabreen60 : Biden had a brain aneurysm some years ago. Of course, I’m just guesting, but I wouldn’t be surprised if his gaffe problem is related. I say this because my husband had a mild stroke a few years ago and he’s not as quick, mentality and physically as he use to be.

  • SueInCa : I agree KQ the novelty has worn off and like CL said those who were commenting positively would not vote for Obama anyway. It is really sad to see how desparate the right is almost comical

  • choicelady : I looked up to see where the addresses and names were posted – can’t find them. They WERE awarded medals – saw the photos – by Obama. I still don’t know who they are.

  • SueInCa : One seal is a tp and a birther nuff said

  • KQµårk 死神 : Like I posted I think the whole swift boat trick only works one time. Once people know what’s up it looks like of ridiculous.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : KQ- Hey!

  • SueInCa : I guess I missed the seals story Hey KQ

  • MurphTheSurf3 : CL…several of those involved in this effort are former Seals and a couple were part of the Bush Administration. There are money links to Rove’s Crossroads. It stinks.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Likewise CL.

  • Sabreen60 : Hi KQ!

  • choicelady : KQ! – wonderful to see you!

  • choicelady : Murph – does anyone HAVE the names and addresses of the SEALs. No? Then… These people are over the top. NONE of them has any experience with the military or government, but they “KNOW” how things are done. I’m an ex Air Force wife, and I know more than THEY do – and that’s not much but still waaaay more.

  • KillgoreTrout : What’s up KQ?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Sabreen. I also saw that site and I have complained to You Tube. Allowing people to only leave comments in support of their lying position is a misuse of the public trust. All the good it will do…but it needs to be said.

  • KQµårk 死神 : Hey gang.

  • KillgoreTrout : CL, yes, but it really sort of back fired. I really like Biden, but sometimes he just can’t help sticking one of his feet in his mouth. He means well and has more heart than the majority of his peers. He just doesn’t pay much heed to what the spin doctors will say about him. I think that’s ultimately a good thing.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : CL- the White House is investigating the leaking of details of the killing and some other intel on other matters- the WH blew the whistle on it. It seems to be coming from out of the CIA or Pentagon, but there are traces of staff at the WH….these apes are twisting it into OBAMA GAVE THE WORLD THE NAMES, ADDRESSES AND PHONE NUMBERS OF SEAL TEAM 6 kind of propaganda.

  • Sabreen60 : I didn’t have a problem with Biden’s “chains” comment. Probably because he had said Repubs want to unchain Wall Street. I didn’t take it as a racial comment at all. Who knows how your subconscious mind works. Maybe because I have never perceived Biden as a racist or bigot I didn’t attribute bigoted remarks to him.

  • choicelady : SAbreen – I think maybe it’s the 1 million people who’d never vote for Obama anyway. In responding to some of the story on the SEALs attacking Obama, I read some of the most amazing conspiracy theory EVER. Wow! Now I know where all the Y2K vitriol went when that didn’t result in black helicopters and martial law!

  • choicelady : KT – Lord I’d hope NOT! It just seemed at the time to be a logical outcome of what RMoney had said.

  • KillgoreTrout : CL, I can understand that. I just think it was a poor choice of words. I would never model my speech after what a dick like Romney said.

  • Sabreen60 : Murph, I watched about as much of that swiftboat video as I could stomach. Did you see that there are over 1 million views of the video on YouTube. The SOS will not let anyone comment who disagrees with the video.

  • choicelady : Murph – I saw some of the vitriol on one site. What was supposed to have been leaked by the White House? No one knew anything before the event did they?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- Toure is a MSNBC regular and a host of a regular afternoon show called The Cycle. He is black, left leaning, and mostly focused on social commentary. He used the term in the way that Cornel West does- a way of lumping otherness into race using code words.

  • SueInCa : Toure’s comment but for the Romney camp to try to shut him up is a violation of his free speech rights. Just like the right tells outright lies because they know way fewer people will hear the retraction. Maybe they are getting beat at their own game. Biden was fine.

  • choicelady : KT – Biden put it into the context of Romney’s call to “unshackle” the banks. No one who is Black so far took it as a threat they’d be re-enslaved but that we ALL would be locked in again to the chains of debt and financial undertainty if the banks WERE unshackled.

  • KillgoreTrout : I think Biden’s choice of words could have been much better. Especially in a state like Virginia. I have to say though, even if Biden is somewhat of a gaffe machine. He is on our side. The side of the American people.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- it is a very good topic. I think the question comes down to how hard and in what way should the Dems push back. The right is trying to Swift Boat Obama over his handling of the bin Laden killing. There is no low that is too low for the other side.

  • SueInCa : To a certain extent both sides do it. The right more than the left for sure. Calling out a serious record is fair play. Shit if you cannot stand the fire get the hell out of the kitchen. I did not hear Toure

  • choicelady : Hey Sabreen! Welcome!

  • Sabreen60 : Hello good folks!

  • choicelady : Murph – I’ve seen references to that, but who is Toure and what was it all about?

  • choicelady : BTW At the risk of never being invited back, I’m not wedded to this topic.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Add in Toure talking about niggerization yesterday on the Cycle….

  • choicelady : A TOPIC FOR TONIGHT: ARE BOTH PARTIES BEING EQUALLY NEGATIVE IN CAMPAIGNING? IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CALLING OUT A SERIOUS RECORD AND NEGATIVE MESSAGING OR IS THAT THE SAME? DID BIDEN CROSS A LINE WITH ‘CHAINS’ OR ARE COMMENTATORS MAKING IT UP?

  • KillgoreTrout : I think AdLib’s use of the word, concerning Planeteers was spot on. We are anything BUT one dimensional.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : SUE- Feel free to use it. It tends to stun them.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : CHOICE–feel free to copy and paste to your hearts content. I rarely get a reply back. As the Brits would say: “GOBSMACKED!”

  • KillgoreTrout : It’s in a small wooded community, just a few blocks from Old Silve Beach. Very beautiful and the quiet there is wonderful. Wind through the trees and birdsong.

  • choicelady : KT – can’t a polygon be anything from a triangle on up? Most common form I guess IS square. But AdLib was being funny!

  • SueInCa : MTS that is a good reply

  • choicelady : Murph – that is absolutely PERFECT!!! GREAT comeback!

  • KillgoreTrout : Sue, yes, it basically means many sided, and/or many points of convergence.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : CL The line I use in ALL of these conspiracy theories that seems most effective is this one: “You know if there were anything, and I mean anything at all, to the charge you are making, you know that the GOP would be all over it. And if there was an iota of proof the articles of impeachment would have been drawn up two years ago. There is nothing there. If even the GOP is ignoring you, why shouldn’t I? So, shoo!”

  • SueInCa : mom’s house. Something hit enter and not me

  • choicelady : KT – where in Cape Cod? I LOVE it there!

  • SueInCa : Be there or be square we used to say that all the time. Oh KT I wish I was going to your mom

  • KillgoreTrout : Hey Sue, I am doing great. Getting ready to make my annual trip to Cape Cod, to see my Mom. Always a lovely experience. She is 83 and still going strong. She still mows her own lawn. I do it for her when I’m there, but she is very capable of doing it when I’m not there.

  • choicelady : Sue – yes. Polygonal means square.

  • SueInCa : MTS all of the above. Ryan is a pretty boy. All talk and no substance. He can talk about but it is all superficial. He has no numbers that is why he cannot talk about his budget. It is the pretty blue book from a few years with no figures

  • choicelady : Murph – I vote for “both” on Ryan. Do they think no one fact checks? The days of flinging out lies that go unchallenged is OVER. Obama learned that in 2008 – counter immediately, show the sources, get past it.

  • choicelady : Murph – GREAT for you! My work at various other sites has returned nothing but hate, lies, and some pretty amazing conspiracy theories. BTW – there is a new movie about Obama’s “history” coming out – “2016” that is “the movie the White House doesn’t want you to see.” Supposedly it traces Obama’s personal history growing up in Kenya. Uh-huh.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- you mentioned Ryan and being dimwitted. Today he was at a Janesville Wi. plant that is closed. He blamed Obama for breaking his promises. Thing is, it closed when Bush was President. Thing is, it closed after getting help to stay open from Bush requested by Ryan. So either he stupid or duplicitous or both.

  • SueInCa : So polygonal means square

  • SueInCa : KT ok is it a real word?

  • KillgoreTrout : Great piece of knowledge. I did not know that, but it sure makes sense.

  • SueInCa : MTS You had quite a good write up on the comment I responded to don;t be shy

  • choicelady : Sue – polygonal is AdLib’s sign off “be there or be polygonal”.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- at HP I have been fighting the battle of Medicare and Romney’s taxes. Getting lots of hate replies when the Troll Bugle Sounds but a good bit of agreement too.

  • SueInCa : KT what is polygonal? Yes CL I have my very own craft room again and Tony gave me his big armoire for storage I am in heaven

  • choicelady : Oh Sue – I’m so glad you had the time! How very wonderful!

  • SueInCa : I had one lovely day this week organizing my beads. It was so much fun to look at them and think about what to make. Now gotta find the time. Hey KT how are you?

  • choicelady : Murph – what were you talking about over at HP? Sorry I don’t go there if you were there.

  • choicelady : KT – and the aggression was linked to survival, not to imperialism. The federal model of our government is from the Iroquois Confederation they assembled to STOP WARS. Most people don’t know – or refuse to believe – that our founding fathers saw that as a credible and important model.

  • KillgoreTrout : Hey Murph and Sue! Good to see you. You are definitely polygonal! ;)

  • SueInCa : Smarts? Foreign word to GOP. Not sure what is wrong with PC every so often it races then I shut it down. Nursing it along will buy new one in a month or so. Hey MTS saw you on HP yesterday

  • KillgoreTrout : CL, even they were not immune to the aggressive nature of mankind. But they sure had it right as far as knowing who the real Mother was.

  • choicelady : Hey – Murph! Great to see you. Sue – we’re here. Just typing!

  • choicelady : Sue! What’s wrong with your PC? Put an icebag on it! Yes indeedy – they got almost NO “honeymoon” did they? And then Ryan goes and blows his “intellectual” creds by saying he has NO idea when or how his budget will pay off since they had not pencilled it out yet. YIKES – what passes for smarts in the GOP!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Hello Choice, Kilgore, Sue, and Bito

  • SueInCa : Well where is everyone?

  • choicelady : No need to wonder, KT! It’s pretty obvious! Indigenous people weren’t pacific or all loving – many wars and abuses among themselves – but they were far closer to nature and peace with the universe overall.

  • SueInCa : Hola thought I would drop by until my PC starts to heat up then it is bye bye babies. So the romney rollout of a VP went off the rails this week huh?

  • KillgoreTrout : And the Europeans referred to Native Americans as savages. I have to wonder, who were really the savages?

  • choicelady : KT – that IS the truth! It’s part of my “why missionaries got it wrong” mantra. First Nations people understood precisely that. Missionaries got scared they’d wasted their time and would never find that grace or closeness to spiritual wholeness.

  • KillgoreTrout : That’s why I love Mother Nature so much. Nothing man made can ever compare.

  • choicelady : It is almost that nice down around the Spread Eagle Tavern (c.1830s) in Hanoverton, OH. BEautiful country and town – and the centerpoint for all GOP action in SE Ohio. Oh, well. I still recommend it even if you DO have to travel with your mouth shut.

  • choicelady : I totally agree. One year on Rt. 7 in Vt., we were surrounded by nothing but a sea of orange sugar maple. Absolutely surreal. Stunning!

  • KillgoreTrout : I’d have to say that Fall in New England is unbeatable. Especially in New Hampshire, Main and Vermont. A real Mother Nature’s artist’s palate.

  • choicelady : KT – I agree. Fall in the Midwest, New Enland, and even some of the South is absolutely gorgeous. Always my favorite time, too.

  • KillgoreTrout : Cl, no, temps have just begun to lower. We’ve been blessed with low humidity too. Nice combination. Fall is definitely my favorite time of year. We’re not quite there yet, but it’s just around the bend.

  • choicelady : KT – LOL!!! When “The Price Is Right” is our national mantra, our spiritual core, then we can just all pack it in. On the other hand – it IS a lingua franca. I guess…

  • KillgoreTrout : I think it says that genuine spirituality is not dead.

  • choicelady : Oh wow KT – I was there about three weeks ago. That sure wasn’t true of NE Ohio. Yuck!

  • choicelady : I have a question – what does it say about our culture that we KNOW WHAT WE MEAN by a single phrase “C’mon down!” Yikes!

  • KillgoreTrout : Ah, the weather is turning from boiling hot Summer to very nice pre-Autumn temps. Beautiful here. 70s!

  • choicelady : Hey bito! You DID c’mon down. Window three is yours – complete with a lifetime supply of guacamole!

  • choicelady : Evening, KT – lovely to see you! At the moment, I think it’s just the two of us. bito seems to be window shopping or just logged on. How are you – how’s the weather back there?

  • KillgoreTrout : Shine on you crazy diamonds! ;)

  • bito : I’ll take Window Number Three!

  • KillgoreTrout : Hey CL, and all the multi-faceted Planeteers!

  • choicelady : I see two of my fave gentlemen in the balcony. Are you on VP or just window shopping? C’mon down!

  • choicelady : Hi everyone – be sure to say “hi” when you arrive. I’d hate for anyone to be polygone because we didn’t see you!

  • AdLib : Vox Populi, our live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7 pm PST. Guest hosting tonight is the lovely and charming Choicelady so a great time is on tap for this evening! Be there or be polygonal!
