Just a few notes from the beginning of a tv show’s theme song can trigger a flood of nostalgia from your past. For this weekend’s theme, we go back to the theme songs of tv shows that were classics for us. Whether they’re just a few years old or decades old, share the opening music for shows that were among your faves.

I’m going back to the ’60’s and ’70’s to start things off, when opening music for tv shows seemed to be so iconic (and most of which have been remade as films or new tv series). My first selection is from a cult show, the forerunner of the X Files and many other shows that used supernatural stories (the opening is actually so amazingly tame and spartan):

Kolchak: The Night Stalker

Mission Impossible

The Wild, Wild West

The Six Million Dollar Man

Hawaii 5-0

The Prisoner

This show shook up the “establishment,” not to mention the censors.
