I loved that Perry was able to add the term “Vulture Capitalism”. Thank you, Perry!
Another term that needs to be used and defined is “Modern day Slavery”. The only difference is that the slaves get to live in their own under-water homes, pay rent,or be homeless altogether. We need to see photos of the homeless, real estate for sales signs and shacks followed by pictures of the homes of the Kotch brothers, Soros, Buffet and other billionaires as well as multi-millionaires like Romney, Kerry and others.

Oil traders are also VERY wealthy and increase our oil costs.

Did you know who Bush’s Political Science professor was at Yale? (He got a “c”) He used her Master’s Thesis in his first pres. campaign. How about C. Rice! Payback

I have heard no-one mentioning the following: A major part of Obama’s spending has been unemployment to people who lost their jobs BECAUSE, in part, of decreased manufacturing of weapons, material and products needed in Bush’s undeclared wars. I have never seen the connection pointed out. Wonder what the unemployment rate would have been under Bush without his wars. Wars always produce more jobs, but I never saw this job increase under Bush.
Other major parts of Obama’s spending was finishing the wars and interest on the 76% increase in the debt under Bush. (Actually much, much, more then 76% when you add the veteran benifits paid in the next 60 or so years and the continued war effort.)
I have also not heard ANYONE mention that the wealthy had a tax rate of at least 58 % from 1932 to 1986. Now with a lower tax rate of 35% these job creators haven’t been creating jobs (in this country).

You make some excellent points. All the damage control has taken up so much time and his initiatives have met with nothing but obstruction from the “right”.

Welcome vivificguy to PPOV, and yes, all your points have some validity. If you notice the very name of GWB is persona non grata in both by the Repubs and on the MSM. Saw this wag on MSNBC, who is a Gatling gun of Republican talking points, say “oh GWB is old news why bring him up, the recession is PBO’s.” Huh? How many years did they blame everything on Clinton, well more than 3 years. GWB is news.

Excellent opening comment vivificguy. Glad you brought this insight to light.

Not to long ago I came across an article showing that military spending had a stimulative effect but a relatively small one (I want to say about $0.4 for every dollar spent but don’t hold me to it). Mostly because allot of the spending goes off sure in times of war and the military pays so poorly. Of course we all know the spending that goes into the industrial portion of the MIC is allot of waste that makes a few people rich.

But bottom line you are right that stimulus spending that occurred because of increased MIC spending is never factored into Bush’s jobs growth. If you look at Reagan’s jobs growth it’s almost directly related to doubling the pentagon budget for example.

Awesome, powerful and spoken like a true leader wanting real reforms. I had to turn off CNN when Ari Fleischer said that he didn’t like anything about the speech, but thought that the President should get credit for bin Laden. What a lying pos, and who cares what this has-been thinks anyway.

The President was presidential as always, and I love how he envisions the future of America. It would be an insult to compare him and his words to the ramblings of the candidates of other side. To anyone who cares about your country and it’s citizens, there can be no comparison, and it’s as clear as the nose of your face that only Obama can help your country recover it’s strength and dignity. I look forward to the progress he can achieve in his next 4 years. For me, and anyone with an ounce of common sense, the election has already been won.

Bloody brilliant. I loved watching the Repugs squirming in their seats like pale faced vampires, which is what they are when it comes to sucking your country dry.

The smile on my face should last all day. Good night all. 🙂

I totally agree…:-)……………I turned it off as soon as he was finished speaking…….I do not need to hear what some dumb “pundit ” or anyone else has to say about it. I heard it as did you and I do not have to earn my keep by talking dwaddle for unending “news casts”

Well done President Obama…………..balanced, sensible, passionate…yes, passionate. Thank you very much.

Yes coveark, passion, a trait sorely missing from politics these days.

Kalima, I whole heartedly agree. I think any honest, well informed republican must shake their heads in disgust at what the GOP offers as the next president of the US. The GOP are offering two bowls of shite, and expecting republicans to choose the one that smells the least.

GottaLaff @GottaLaff

RT @fivethirtyeight: Obama at 55.8% to win re-election on Intrade. The #SOTU could send that as high as 55.9% — or crashing down to 55.7%.

Which is probably true, SOTU speeches have rarely had much effect on polls

Nirek

I think I’ll listen in bed to the radio. See you folks later. Enjoy the SOTU.

Night Nirek, I like to listen to speeches on the radio also, less distractions.

The GOPers are saying that taxing the interest is ” a second bite of the apple”. I say it is not especially in the case of the likes of Mitt. He was born with the “silver spoon” in his mouth. He very likely has never done a days work in his life.

I’d like to see him and others of his ilk do a weeks work like most of us have to and earn a paycheck. LOL

hey! I saw a photo of him “doing laundry”……. Now if he can just be one of Newt’s toilet cleaners.

Nirek

AB,I worked as a janitor for a couple years and believe me it is not easy or fun. It is NOT kids work. Newt is wrong on that as well as everything else.

Nirek: I got busted for bad conduct (who, ME?) at camp once and put on latrine duty as a child. I have first hand ‘sperience with it, and would lay down my life to keep any other child from EVER having to do this!

Nirek

That reminds me of latrine duty in Vietnam. We used to burn the stuff by putting diesel fuel in the barrel and to keep it burning because the urin didn’t like to burn we would throw in artillery fuses and mortar fuses which burn fast and hot!

Now Nirek, that’s some hot sh?!!

bito

I did too Nirek, I had to clean a two story washhouse at US Steel, the chemicals used there were toxic! I had to wear long rubber gloves/boots and goggles! Newt thinks it’s easy, because he has never done it! He probably has some one to wipe his butt, let alone clean a bathroom.

AlphaBitch

Now THAT’S a job I would NEVER take. I’d rather starve. Or maybe become a cannibal. Anything “butt” that!

AB, that was a little too graphic wasn’t it? 😆 😆 😆

Good evening all.

I won’t be able to join you here tonight, but I will be watching CNN on the teeveee. After all the idiotic, robotic nonsense and lies I’ve heard from the GOP candidates and their cronies over the last few months, I can’t begin to tell you how much I’m looking forward to sanity and real concern for America and it’s people for a change.

Will be thinking of you. Take care.
