• AdLib : Well, looks like time to wrap up this edition of Vox Populi. Thanks to all for a rousing discussion. Watch out for falling satellites and have a great weekend! See you next week!

  • AdLib : Night AD, have a wonderful weekend!

  • Khirad : Night Em and AD.

  • ADONAI : Yeah it is pretty late. I think I’ll follow you Em. Night all. Peace be with you.

  • AdLib : Sweet dreams Emerald, so glad you’re back full time at The Planet!

  • Emerald1943 : Hey everyone, I’ve got to sign off. It’s almost 1am and I need a little shut-eye! I hope everyone has a good night! I’ll see you all tomorrow..and thanks for a great discussion!

  • AdLib : EM – That’s my point, I think the Dems and Obama completely turned the Class Warfare BS against the Repubs, they lost that propaganda war. And they’ll lose this one. Sometimes you have to draw a line in the sand and refuse to deal with terrorists, now is a perfect time to do that and make them pay the price.

  • ADONAI : I don’ think history really matters anymore. You could show people how things have worked for thousands of years, and what policies have failed and succeeded time and time again but it won’t matter. This is really what George Washington warned us about. Political Parties dividing the nation and one Party basically destroying the place to advance their narrow agenda.

  • AdLib : The Baggers’ view is, “We give them a bill and if they don’t sign it, it’s their fault!” They have blind faith in their propaganda but don’t factor in that Obama has a bully pulpit and far more trust from the American People than they do. He stands up and explains thier unwillingness to do as all Congresses have before, approving FEMA funds without cuts, and they will lokk guilty and lose. Slimy bastards think they’re smarter than they are.

  • Emerald1943 : Bito, they actually want to abolish FEMA, never mind cuts!

  • bito : They want to trade FEMA funding for a green autos jobs funding.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, the President has made some good points in his speeches about “class warfare” and the people love it. They are not fooled one bit.

  • AdLib : EM – They may be betting on Dems being afraid that they will be blamed but the more they try to push that BS, just like the Class Warfare BS, the more it turns back on them.

  • Emerald1943 : Adonai, you might think they could come up with something that the public would not see the need for as we do with FEMA. Katrina is still too fresh in people’s minds.

  • AdLib : AD – It’s not FEMA, it’s Baggers. Baggers don’t want FEMA to prove government is needed AND they have a simple-minded dogma of “No money can be spent without cuts!”

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, well let’s just hope it has the same results this time. They really are out of time to get this done if they are going to recess next week.

  • ADONAI : Why FEMA though? After everything that has happened the last decade, why FEMA?

  • AdLib : Em – They’re barely literate! As the saying goes, those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Baggers don’t learn, hence, they’re thrilled about doing exactly what sunk Repubs in Newt’s era.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, you would think they would have learned from Newt’s history…but then, I guess they don’t read history!

  • AdLib : Em – I feel the same way. I don’t want the economy or people to be hurt but too many people are open to electing a Bagger President, suffering may be the only teacher they learn from.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, while I don’t want anyone to get hurt by this, I am almost hoping it happens. That should wake up the rest of the people who haven’t been watching!

  • AdLib : Em – Just playing around. FEMA would have to provide help and funds to all states and areas according to its guidelines.

  • AdLib : I do see a possibility of a government shutdown and no deal. The Dems seem fed up with compromising and the Baggers have no capability for compromising. Imagine how the dynamics of 2012 would change overnight if the Baggers succeeded in shutting down government…whi ch is their dream.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I don’t know how that works. Are the funds just sent to the state?

  • AdLib : Em – I do like the idea of a bill that requires the pols from a district simply to ask for FEMA funds to receive them. Then, that’s on the record!

  • Emerald1943 : Patsy, good night friend! Hope you sleep well!

  • AdLib : Sleep well Patsy and great work on the Nuke front!

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I know that, but it would be poetic justice! After all, you get what you vote for.

  • ADONAI : Nite Patsy!

  • AdLib : Chris, being impressed goes both ways! Great to have you here tonight! Have a wonderful weekend!

  • PatsyT : I must say good night… You all have a wonderful weekend!

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, I wish you weren’t going away! We’ll miss you! Please come back next week! And rest well!

  • AdLib : EM – Though it would be appropriate, FEMA can’t discriminate that way. I hate to say this because it will hurt many but part of me wants the Baggers to finally get their way and learn what Newt learned when Clinton was Pres, you shut down government and you empower the Pres and turn the public against you.

  • ADONAI : Peace chris

  • PatsyT : Have a great night Chris

  • ADONAI : Pretty sure that’s the Chinese symbol for farts

  • Khirad : Night Chris.

  • ChrisR266 : Thanks, everyone, for the grand and interesting discussion this evening. To say I am impressed with you is an understatement. I value you all very much. Enjoy your weekend, and may the hours of your day be bathed in sunshine and joy.

  • ADONAI : Of course they’ll be supported Al. These people are fucking crazy. It’s not the Republican’s fault. It;s Obama’s, or the Mexicans, or gay servicemen and women, or any thing that keeps their world view in tact.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, although I know it would hurt the people, it would only be fair if FEMA funds were withheld from the districts where their reps have insisted on cuts.

  • Khirad : This was the “Arabic” «link»

  • AdLib : If government shuts down and people in the Baggers’ districts get no FEMA funds because they insist on cuts and don’t negotiate, do they really think they’ll be supported?

  • ChrisR266 : And Nancy knows that. She can operate with out the pressures Boehner is under. And, she has no reason to have any compassion for him anymore.

  • PatsyT : At this point they don’t care who is getting the cuts even if it was their own leg getting cut off they would love it as long as it makes our President look bad.

  • AdLib : Chris – Agree, Pelosi has been such a remarkable and successful leader!

  • ADONAI : Getting Obama out of office is worth everything to them.

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, totally agreed!

  • ChrisR266 : Em: I think Nancy is the greatest, underestimated and most shrewd leader the party has had in 40 years. She is a righteous dudette.

  • Emerald1943 : Khirad, what was that writing anyway?

  • ADONAI : Was is Sanskrit?

  • bito : If your on twitter go to #UARS , those people are having fun. LOL

  • AdLib : Seriously, are there still people who want cuts so badly that damaging the nation and economy is worth it?

  • ADONAI : It’ll be a mix of both. Enough to make both sides angry and ensure we’re doing this again a few montsh from now.

  • Khirad : OMG, yesterday’s “Arabic” graffiti on airline belly hysteria? Not Arabic. I’m shocked. Fox will quietly move on without clarification.

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, I hope you’re right on that no deal. Nancy is still a player and don’t you know she’s like for the Boner to hang.

  • ChrisR266 : Evening of good slumber, Bito.

  • ChrisR266 : Kes: Exactly. May the force be with you and us all.

  • kesmarn : Night again, Sir B’ito!

  • bito : Night Miss k’es.

  • kesmarn : I’ll sleep under my umbrella. And yes, Chris, that satellite will skid thru every gerrymandered district with a little help from the Force.

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: I’m going to put my money on no deal. I think Nancy just might let Boehner hang. The President is on a roll, and it would push the division to reality.

  • AdLib : AD – So, do the Repubs concede on no offsetting cuts to fund FEMA or do you think the Dems agree to cuts?

  • ADONAI : Nite kes!

  • ADONAI : There will be a deal. There’s always a deal. And we get the short end.

  • PatsyT : Nighty Night Kes !!

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, we’ll miss you! Good night, sweet lady! Sleep well! :-)

  • ChrisR266 : Sleep well, Kes. So good to talk to you tonight.

  • AdLib : Night Kes! Watch the satellites!

  • ADONAI : So why do republicans hate the troops? Like, literally hate the troops.

  • ChrisR266 : Kes: Yes! Now you’re really onto something. Do you think the thing could skid for 450 miles? That would take out one of the new gerrymandered districts that’s new for Stivers

  • kesmarn : Holy Satellites, Batman! It’s 12:30. I’ve got to get to bed. Work tomorrow. Have a great weekend, all.

  • AdLib : So, anyone think there won’t be a deal and the country shuts down?

  • kesmarn : Talk about redistricting, Chris! We could have a whole new map. B’bye Jim Johnson!

  • AdLib : Patsy – We know, it’s labeled Int’l Space Station!

  • PatsyT : Ok I was playing a little tricksy … that is not from the satellite

  • ChrisR266 : Kes: Just think, if the sattellite hit here, we could really get in the government shutdown/disaste r funding mix!

  • ADONAI : I’d trade everything I own to go into space for five minutes.

  • Emerald1943 : Patsy, that was a cool link! Thanks!

  • AdLib : Patsy – Wow, that is cool but would have me breathless if I saw it in person. Of course, I’d be in space so that would explain it…

  • kesmarn : Patsy, that’s cool…higher than Rush on Oxy.

  • ChrisR266 : Patsy: Cool link, but isn’t the view the space station?

  • kesmarn : Chris, hasn’t Ohio suffered enough already? Do we need the satellite too?

  • Emerald1943 : Adonai, I’m not going to even go there! LMAO

  • PatsyT : This is the view from the on board camera from the satellite «link»

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: Marvelous!

  • ADONAI : I dunno. I mean, i totally get why people hide their sexuality. I have no idea what goes through their mind. People don’t hate me solely because I like to stick my penis in something different.

  • AdLib : Oh, if only they’re all cruising together with the Kochs on their yacht in the South Pacific and…

  • ChrisR266 : Ok, where’s the damned sattelite now? Coming for me and Kes?

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, go get ’em! He is disgusting, and taking federal money to boot!

  • ChrisR266 : AD: He just was mad because he wanted ya. Wanted ya bad. Seriously, we need to out this guy. The fraud is shameful

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, don’t forget Roberts too!

  • AdLib : Please satellite, hit Thomas or Scalia, just close enough to make them want to retire!

  • kesmarn : b’ito, that’s a good link! Thanks! (And you were a good sport about the earlier teasing!)

  • ADONAI : Chris, I threw an apple at him. That pissed him off real good!

  • AdLib : Bito, thanks for the link! That is so cool!

  • ChrisR266 : Em and AD: Yes, that’s the topic. I’m taking over!

  • ChrisR266 : Adonai: Raccoon? Hold your head high, dude.

  • PatsyT : Scotland is looking safe!

  • ADONAI : I say don’t push it. He’ll accept it eventually if it’s true.

  • bito : Ok, if you are really into the reentry «link»

  • ChrisR266 : Em: Yeah. We both traveled almost weekly while we lived up there. Great place to live.

  • kesmarn : That’s even worse.

  • AdLib : The satellite’s passed Cali, heads up to the east!

  • Emerald1943 : Adonai, so the topic is now how do we out Michelle Bachmann’s gay hubby?

  • ChrisR266 : Ad: OMFG, LMAO!

  • ADONAI : kes, No but I was harassed by a surly raccoon yesterday.

  • PatsyT : Hey ADONAI!

  • kesmarn : Hey, Adonai! You haven’t been struck by any stray satellite pieces there in KY?

  • ChrisR266 : Em: sure is, I bet he’s been in on the action for years. I’m surprised my husband didn’t see him when we were living up there, LOL.

  • ADONAI : Hello all!

  • Emerald1943 : ADONAI!! Glad you’re here! :-)

  • Khirad : That was brilliant AD!

  • AdLib : Hey AD!

  • ChrisR266 : Khirad: No. Mine went wacko.

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, enough to hang out at the airport??

  • ADONAI : As Michelle Bachmann: “I’ve just been told by a young women in Ohio that Bigfoot, or as the Native Americans call him, Sasquatch, has been overturning trach bins near her neighborhood. Now this is why I want to repeal Obamacare and reinvest that money in addressing the threat that is the Wendigo

  • ChrisR266 : Em: Bwaaaahahahah! I saw that video. The man is lying to his clients and humanity. I admit it is sick and vindictive, but I want him outed while she’s still a candidate.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, you naughty boy! :-)

  • kesmarn :  AdLib, that was quick!

  • AdLib : “i had a woman come up to me after watching the GOP debate and say that Michele Bachmann has group sex, does coke, runs over Senior Citizens and uses the American Flag as toilet paper. I’m just passing along what I heard!”

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, haven’t I heard something about that airport before??? Famous, isn’t it!

  • Khirad : Speaking of gaydar. So I was the only one that pinged on Gary Johnson?

  • PatsyT : Ohhh Yes Khirad!! you need a little music for this You go get her and wear your musicial outfit she will never suspect you «link»

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, have you seem him dance?? It’s enough to make you puke!

  • kesmarn : Khirad, excellent point. She does love to repeat urban legend as fact.

  • ChrisR266 : Em: Minneapolis Airport bathrooms. That’s where the stakeout needs to be. We’ll catch him, I know we will.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, are you saying you’re in favor of them Feds getting their noses into the freedom beef in your sovereign state’s super markets?

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, I’m actually laughing out loud! My doggies are puzzled!

  • Emerald1943 : Khirad, I’d pay to have the opportunity!

  • ChrisR266 : Em: Damn, he pops his Izod collars, wears every color of wedding mints known to stylists, and my gaydar goes batshit crazy every time I see and hear him. No freaking way that man is not a down lower.

  • Khirad : You know what I want? Apparently Michele will repeat anything a crying, hysterical person tells her after a debate. I wanna infiltrate. This is fertile ground indeed! Think Anchorman and teleprompter.

  • AdLib : Khirad – Exactly! The GOP plan: End taxes THEN give tax cuts to the wealthy. Genius!

  • PatsyT : That man is very happy

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, we’re trying! LMAO

  • PatsyT : I kinda like buying ground beef not e-coli disguised as ground beef

  • AdLib : Hey…how would we build border walls and patrol it with armies and drones when we don’t pay any taxes?

  • ChrisR266 : So, people, when do you think operatives are going to start floating out stories about Bachmann’s down low gay husband?

  • Khirad : You know what will pay for police, firefighters, teachers and public services? … tax cuts!

  • kesmarn : OH! EXCELLENT, Smithers! Thanks for the info, Chris.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, talking about dumber than a box of rox! I don’t know which one is dumber!

  • Khirad : She wouldn’t get paid. They’re so into dismantling the Federal government it only stands to reason that she’ll abolish the position. At least, I could only hope.

  • bito : AdLib, I Posted a good one from the DNC on TO/OT today re: Romney. It was good.

  • ChrisR266 : Kes: right north of Westerville, about exactly where Governor Evil lives.

  • AdLib : Em – Yes! I noted that as well, people should keep ALL their money. Huh? I always though people liked having police, roads and airports, I could be wrong though.

  • kesmarn : Chris, that sounds wonderful. Remind me again where is the Medallion Golf Course?

  • PatsyT : AdLib … infomercial

  • Emerald1943 : Khirad, she also suggested that the people should be able to keep ALL their money…in other words, NO taxes at all! I don’t know how she plans to run a govt. that way. How would she get paid??

  • kesmarn : Oh wait, Muslims don’t worship the “real god” that speaks to Michelle…when she has her “migraines.”

  • AdLib : The real problem is how to cut just a 30 second spot against Romney or Perry with all that material? Man, what don’t you use?

  • ChrisR266 : Kes: There’s a big house on the Medallion Golf course which that satellite could crash into its backyard. Just to mess it up some. I would be happy about that.

  • Khirad : Yes, Friday Prayers outside her Minnesota office!

  • Khirad : Dem strategists are like, oh yeah, we don’t even have to feed them their own rope.

  • kesmarn : I hope she’ll come and speak at the Islamic Center here, too, Khirad.

  • Emerald1943 : Khirad, what about building a Buddhist temple there too? That ought to get her panties in a wad!

  • PatsyT : You are right up after me Bito

  • Khirad : Oh yeah, and she was all for bringing religion back into the public space. I’m all for that too. I wanna organize a big Wiccan ceremony in her hometown.

  • AdLib : Can you imagine the ecstasy that Dem tv commercial producers are experiencing when they watch each debate? There’s so much material to sink each of them in ads many times over and the amount keeps growing!

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, it was disgusting! You didn’t miss much1

  • bito : Re: the debates, I wold like to see a list of the questions asked!

  • kesmarn : I do hope it misses my villa on the Mediterranean…

  • ChrisR266 : Good night Sabreen, good to talk to you this evening.

  • kesmarn : Em, I was at work, so only got bits and pieces of the debate on patients’ TVs. I was lucky.

  • Emerald1943 : Khirad, she said: “Thomas Jefferson was the author of that religious liberty that he loved so much.” That is a verbatim quote! I still don’t know what that meant! LMAO

  • bito : #UARS will be above Hawaii in 3 minutes! Just past Patsy’s house.

  • AdLib : Em – Bachmann came out against medicine. Against medicine! That stops cancer!

  • PatsyT : Hey that satellite is the size of Arizona on that map.

  • AdLib : Khirad – I agree, they keep Perry and Romney marbled with wacko goodness. They’re so offensive to indies, it’s rubbing off on Romney and Perry…who also aren’t that popular with indies.

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, I got nauseated last night when she talked about “grabbing that brass ring of liberty”!! She actually said that! GAG!!!

  • Khirad : Okay, I watched most of it, refresh me on what she said about T-Jay.

  • kesmarn : Bachmann in particular. If she mentions her 5 real kids and 23 pretend ones ONE MORE TIME….!

  • Emerald1943 : Khirad, I’m still stunned over Michelle’s statements from last night, especially about Jefferson.

  • Khirad : I hope Bachmann and Santorum stay in this for a while. Not that I can stand listening to them, but damn to they poison the well for both Romney and Perry.

  • kesmarn : I think I’m gonna cry.

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, I got that part too! How amazing! :-)

  • kesmarn : I especially liked this part: 1 21701U 91063B 11266.92730638 .09135854 11791-4 18500-3 0 6390 2 21701 056.9390 263.1012 0003809 338.0534 022.2824 16.4692053510915 3

  • Khirad : Night Sabreen.

  • AdLib : Consider the dynamics of a back and forth race. If Baggers see Romney getting an edge, they and Santorum and Bachmann will turn on Romney and bloody him.

  • bito : Night Sabreen and thanks!

  • PatsyT : Nighty Night Sabreen

  • Khirad : Of course not Romney! I’m hoping for Romney though and a Perot-Bagger candidate.

  • bito : Opps try this: «link»

  • kesmarn : G’night, Sabreen. Rest well.

  • Emerald1943 : Sabreen, sleep well! See you tomorrow, I hope! :-)

  • AdLib : Night Sabreen, have a great weekend!

  • kesmarn : Not over Scotland… YET. Wait 5 minutes.

  • AdLib : Still, will Baggers vote for Romney? Mr. Romneycare? Baggers hate so many things!

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, the man is dumber than a box of rox! He couldn’t find his way out of a wet paper bag. How in the hell can we accept that as President of the United States??

  • Khirad : Scots are blowing hard towards England.

  • Sabreen60 : I’ve got to get up early :( so I must say good-night. Take care everyone.

  • bito : Try this one: #uars final impact soon: heavens-above.co m/orbit.aspx?sat …

  • PatsyT : The satellite will not be over Scotland

  • Khirad : Oh, I think they care about them illegal brown people gettin’ the ejucayshun they never will.

  • AdLib : Even if Perry is damaged by the TX Dream Act and wall…they hate ROmney. I think it makes the race closer but still leaning Perry for Baggers.

  • kesmarn :

  • bito : Hey don’t shoot the messenger!

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, that pretty well covered it all!

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I was hoping for Texas!

  • kesmarn : “During that time period, the satellite will be passing over Canada and Africa, as well as vast areas of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans. The risk to public safety is very remote.” Well NASA certainly covered their bases with that one. Is there anywhere the satellite will NOT be in the next 15 minutes?

  • bito : Baggers didn’t notice nor do they care, they dislike RomneyCare!

  • Emerald1943 : Bito, that didn’t tell me a damned thing! It said over Canada and AFrica and the Pacific and Indian Oceans, etc. etc.

  • AdLib : I’m just saying this for the hell of it but since the SCOTUS is on vacation right now…any chance of the satellite having an unfortunate re-entry right onto a vacationing Scalia?

  • Khirad : I think the Texan “Dream Act” and wall stance really damages him. It’s his “Romneycare” liability.

  • PatsyT : Baggers don’t care just like – Honey Badger don’t care

  • AdLib : So what do we think about Rick Perry surviving as a front runner after looking unsteady from one debate to another? Or do the Baggers care?

  • bito : “Let’s go to the source” «link»

  • PatsyT : Hey Khirad!

  • kesmarn : Yep.

  • PatsyT : Kes … whoa did I send you one too?

  • Sabreen60 : Hi Khirad !

  • kesmarn : “The Rednecks is Reddy” “Happy Holidaze”

  • bito :  AdLib!

  • Emerald1943 : Khirad! Good to see you! :-)

  • PatsyT : Hey Kes that was my holiday greeting card pic from last year!

  • AdLib : Hey Khirad!

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, LMAO

  • kesmarn : Hey, Khirad!

  • bito : k’es I’m looking at tweets: #UARS is now approaching New Zealand (daylight, so not visible unless re-entering, and won’t know that until next dataset)

  • AdLib : Bito – Any truth to the rumor that a man in a cowboy hat was seen riding the satellite down, whooping and hollering?

  • Khirad : Well, I see the new White House petition site already has a popular Legalize It one. Rats, now I have to come up with something else? :-P

  • Emerald1943 : Bito, did they say where it’s going to come down?

  • kesmarn : Patsy, I’d love to see you in your stilettos and helmet, standing beside Ralph by the pickup.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, on second thought, I think the DoJ could do something. Forget that last remark.

  • kesmarn : Is Texas in the line of fire, b’ito?

  • PatsyT : I will put on my helmet

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I like the voter suppression thing. That is really important. But can the federal DOJ do anything about state laws?

  • bito : LOOK OUT! Re-entry window has opened. NASA predicts UARS will make its fiery plunge into the atmosphere within next 60 minutes.

  • AdLib : Em – Never forget, as cozy as The Planet or any site may seem, they are all public for all to crawl and read.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, I’m getting my account set up now on that site.

  • AdLib : Next week, I’ll post an article inviting people to suggest topics for a petition for We The People from The Planet. Right now I think having the DoJ fight voter suppression and the reduction of mortgage rates would be on the list.

  • ChrisR266 : Google is the great voyeur. Something’s got to do it.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, it just seems like we’re being spied on a little bit. But I think it’s good if it gives the Planet some additional visitors.

  • PatsyT : Thanks Em !!!

  • Emerald1943 : Patsy, I already signed it earlier! I didn’t know that was you! I’m so glad1

  • AdLib : EM – It’s not really creepy, that’s the way all search engines work, that’s how you find everything on the web. We have Bing and Yahoo and all the others categorizing the articles on our site but Google is the biggest and we’re optimized for it.

  • PatsyT : Try this link «link»

  • PatsyT : Oh Bito you are never a bit to late

  • Emerald1943 : Patsy, what do we search for?

  • bito : I meant on my part, Patsy

  • AdLib : Wow, almost 1,000 Patsy? That’s great!

  • bito : A bit too late Patsy

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, that’s pretty cool, I guess. I’m glad to see them pick up our articles. but it is a little creepy.

  • bito : you can find them at «link» Patsy may know the title to search

  • PatsyT : Hey AdLib thanks for the intro YES please sign and share I was 120 something this afternoon and they are almost at ***1000*** You can make it a big night for them but seriously read their little intro It’s awesome! «link»

  • AdLib : EM – Google’s search engine crawls sites to get info for searches. Go to google and type in “Planetpov”, you’ll find even our newest articles listed there. We get a good deal of traffic from people who do a search on Google and one of our articles comes up. We see Google crawling only because Vox Populi shows who’s on the site at the time, Google isn’t categorizing our Vox Populi chat though, only articles and comments.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I didn’t see that but signed on to a couple of others on the White House site.

  • kesmarn : I missed that, Patsy. Do we just go to the White House site to sign?

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, why does Google crawl the site? What are they looking for?

  • AdLib : Emerald – That would actually be a good candidate for the WH petition site. BTW, hope everyone saw Patsy’s post about her petition on Nukes and signed on!

  • kesmarn : And they never lie…

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, they said it was in the mail!

  • kesmarn : I mean check from Google. Not Fannie and Freddie.

  • AdLib : I got into blogging for the money and chicks…but I stayed for the bacon.

  • PatsyT : Come on how could the MSM ignore thousand of people walking around with Trump hair? I know there are lots of talented hair dressers in NYC – Come on New Yorkers let your inner artist/comedian out

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, let’s write the White House about this!

  • kesmarn : Yes. We’re all expecting our checks any day now.

  • AdLib : Em – That’s why this proposal stuck in my head, it is brilliant, doesn’t need Congress, instantly puts huge amounts of money in people’s hands AND will stop many foreclosures. It would be the consumer bailout that never happened and needed to. Do it!

  • bito : Google get’s your posts spread around the intertubes, so you become a famous blogger,,,and rich!

  • Emerald1943 : Kes LMAO! :-)

  • kesmarn : Emerald Krugman!

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, that could put an amazing amount of money into the economy fairly quickly resulting in increased demand for goods and services! WOW! I sound like an economist! :-)

  • AdLib : Patsy – Trump hair would be arrested unless wearing a dog license.

  • kesmarn : If Trump hair isn’t illegal, Patsy, it should be. Oh wait… they still do sell those troll dolls…

  • AdLib : Em – Yes he can, Congress doesn’t administrate the Treasury Dept which can decide to renegotiate all the loans it oversees.

  • PatsyT : Ok AdLib if they can’t use Trump masks How about just Trump hair?

  • bito : Thanks AdLib,I WILL read it later. That would be great if he can do that by EO.

  • Emerald1943 : Google baby! Sooo nice of you to drop by…NOT!

  • ChrisR266 : Oh, for cripes sake. Who brought google to the party? It wasn’t me this week.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, no problem. I actually read it all. Can he do that by Executive Order?

  • Emerald1943 : Thanks bito and Adlib! Great info!

  • kesmarn : “Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer Delivers Remarks at Rhode Island La Cosa Nostra Press Conference” on the DOJ site? Okay. Now I’m curious.

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: you be the moderator, you have the latitude. No apologies needed.

  • AdLib : Sorry about the big fat article! Meant to edit it down!

  • PatsyT : The pick up survived not a scratch Now my neighbors Hummer is not making a sound

  • ChrisR266 : Patsy: You’re a damned lucky soul. Move a little quicker next time, ok?

  • AdLib : “President Obama is reconsidering a plan to allow millions of homeowners with government-backe d mortgages the ability to refinance their mortgage at historically low rates in an effort to boost a still struggling U.S. economy, the New York Times reported, citing two people briefed on the administration’ s discussions. One version of the plan, which has been in circulation for several years and had earlier been rejected as both too expensive and too cumbersome to administer, would allow borrowers who have mortgages that are ultimately backed by mortgage finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to refinance at the prevailing market rate, regardless of creditworthiness or the home’s worth relative to the mortgage. An administration official told CBS News Thursday the administration is considering a host of proposals to help struggling homeowners but no new announcements are imminent. Despite historic lows for mortgage rates, many borrowers are unable to refinance their high-rate mortgage because their credit history is blemished or they do not have enough equity in the home for the lender to make a new loan under today’s stricter standards. The plan could save millions of homeowners hundreds or even thousands of dollars every month, potentially unleashing consumers with extra money to spend on other items. That would boost the economy and create jobs as demand for goods and services increase, backers of the plan say. The U.S. Treasury took control of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, which back home loans made to their standards, at the height of the financial crisis in September 2008 as losses mounted from mortgages gone bad.” «link»

  • bito : Speaking of the DOJ here is their news link «link»

  • kesmarn : Jest the boys out back shootin’ off bottle rockets, Ralph?

  • PatsyT : OK that was close

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: We really did need him to do FDR things two years ago, but he just wasn’t in the position to do so. He could now if voters give him the platform to do so–A House and Senate who will not derail the fixes.

  • AdLib : Bito – One second, I’ll find his statement on that…

  • Emerald1943 : Patsy..DUCK AND COVER!! LMAO

  • kesmarn : Patsy!! Ralph??? Is the pickup okay?

  • AdLib : Patsy – The NYPD are using a law from the late 1800’s, that people can’t gather wearing masks, to arrest protestors on Wall Street. So the Trump mask is out…but makeup and costume would be cool!

  • kesmarn : I’m happy to see he’s undoing that damned “No Child Left Behind” mess, too. Another thankless task.

  • PatsyT : Oh yeah, I heard about that satellite as a matter of fact…… we can hear some THING REALLY LOUD AND FAST ________________ ________

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, that sounds like a good plan. There has to be some way to get money into the hands of the people to stoke up this economy. And you KNOW the baggers are going to kill the Jobs Act. He may be counting on this for re-election. I don’t think people will stand for it.

  • bito : Can he do that, AdLib?

  • ChrisR266 : Patsy: That’d be so fun!

  • AdLib : Here’s what I want Obama to do soon…by Executive Order, require Fannie and Freddie to redo all of its loans under today’s rates, around 4% and put a massive amount of money back in the hands of people and the economy. I know he has discussed doing this, he should just go ahead after the Baggers kill his jobs bill.

  • ChrisR266 : Em: We were lucky to realize what Countrywide was doing before we got sucked into the vortex of hell. We stayed our course and are almost free and clear. They can’t touch us, but there are probably a few million more who they destroyed and haven’t begun accounting for, yet.

  • Emerald1943 : Hey everyone…has anyone seen any of the space satellite coming down tonight? Maybe in Europe?

  • kesmarn : Well, I must admit I was surprised by how low they would go, too.

  • PatsyT : You got that right Chris Now how can they get that MSM to pay any attention. How about everyone get a Donald Trump mask and put out the tweets that the Donald is joining the protesters

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I think you’re right. It just took him a little longer to recognize just how low they would go for political purposes.

  • bito : k’es

  • PatsyT : I think there were 4 or 5 teapariters

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, BoA is in my neighborhood, Charlotte NC.

  • ChrisR266 : Patsy: you sure the hell didn’t hear it on MSM, LOL.

  • kesmarn : Jinx, b’ito.

  • AdLib : I think Obama has accomplished more huge things for Americans than any President in recent memory. That isn’t in conflict with the proposition that he was under a misapprehension for some time that the Repubs could be honestly bargained with. Personally, after the Stimulus fight and dishonesty by the Repubs, I thought he should have accepted that as representative of who they are and how they’d conduct themselves. DeMint said publicly that they wanted HCR to be his Waterloo and Rush said at the outset that they wanted him to fail. Again, I think Obama understandably had trouble believing Republicans would destroy America rather than be out of power. Due to that, he is in the difficult position he’s in today. Had he accepted this in his first year, he might not be as damaged by much that’s happened.

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, oh yes…I remember now. Another one of those senior moments! I seem to have a lot of them lately! :-)

  • PatsyT : Where did I hear the story of the teapartiers protesting the protesters Of #OccupyWallStree t ?

  • ChrisR266 : Kes: Yes, I do. BofA is in for a world of hurt. They bought Countrywide and they now know where every single body is buried. BofA might be the next “Enron.” I have a Countrywide bought mortgage that will be paid off in a few months, and I know that BofA must be preparing for Armageddon.

  • bito : The head of Goldman-Sachs recently “got lawyered” up because of the DOJ !!!

  • kesmarn : He’s with Goldman-Sachs, Em.

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, was he at Lehman Brothers? I get them mixed up.

  • kesmarn : I hear that Lloyd Blankfein has lawyered up. Goody-goody.

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, I was going to ask the same question…would n’t that be great to see some of the Goldman-Sachs boys in orange??

  • bito : Chris the DOJ has been working on charges against the banksters and they have filed few the last month.

  • PatsyT : Oh Chris I hope that really proves out to be true

  • kesmarn : Chris, do you really think the scat’s gonna fly with the bankers and Wall Street boys in the near future? I like that thought!

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, it is interesting that the CoC backs the Jobs Act. That’s a change for sure!

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, we should ALL thank him! His list of accomplishments is growing into what will be a book before he’s done.

  • bito : Sabreen he has been more “firey” when he is in campaign mode. His speeches on the jobs act have been great. Policy makes good politics.

  • ChrisR266 : Bito: And, the Corporatists find themselves backed into a corner right now, too. The last thing the Chamber of Commerce needs right now is the economy to tank again. They’re now out there actively fighting the GOPTEA in the House. It’s a riot to me. And, the Banks are stockpiling cash because they know that their asses are grass in a matter of months. Justice and the SEC will no longer be able to delay the inevitable federal charges and lawsuits. They’re going to be paying out billions and billions. And, Wall street knows that too. Smells like the makings of a perfect storm to me.

  • kesmarn : The thing that the corporate folk and the bankers ought to recognize is that the Prez (like FDR) has actually done a hell of a lot to keep the whole house of cards still standing and not in a state of total meltdown. They should thank him.

  • kesmarn : Interesting way to put that, Chris.

  • Sabreen60 : I agree with you Bito. I don’t understand this attitude of “where has the President been”? As though he has not had to fight for every single accomplishment. Maybe he’s more fiery of late, but he certainly is working just as hard as ever.

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, that’s beautiful! :-)

  • ChrisR266 : Em: I’m now convinced it’s not skin. It’s something else, and I think it might be a little bit blessed. I prefer to think of the Force shielding him.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, Chris and all, can you just imagine how the second term is going to be? Think of all the stuff that he will be able to do, especially if we are able to get the House back for him!!

  • bito : I knew I liked you Chris

  • kesmarn : Em, I think c’lady was taking a little vacation (she said) and was going to “unplug” for a bit.

  • Emerald1943 : Bito, I hope she is just off on another adventure.

  • ChrisR266 : Bito: you are correct, as is Choice. Remember, all his opponents are not wearing such obvious nametags as the GOPTEA. What he represents scares the crap out of the corporatists, too.

  • bito : C’L has been MIA lately, I do hope our Mrs. Perkins is OK.

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, I don’t know how the man keeps up his spirits. He must have skin 6 inches thick!

  • ChrisR266 : Em: The President is a pretty smart man. I’m sure to this point he had intellectualized it so he didn’t have to deal with the enormity of its implications. I know I sure would. Otherwise, it might crush you, decimate your spirit and resolve.

  • PatsyT : Yep Em that too… it’s like they were just waiting for him to come around the corner and wham they pulled out a tire iron

  • Emerald1943 : Bito, where is CL tonight? Anyone seen her?

  • bito : I’m dis agreeable tonight, or again ;-) All of the so called compromises that he has made he has come out well ahead. C’Lady has cited that many times. He has actually won and the MSM has portrayed him as weak.

  • kesmarn : Yes, I don’t think I’ve ever seen hatred like this. Not in a long time anyway.

  • Emerald1943 : Patsy, never in my years have I seen a President treated with such blatant disrespect. I don’t think he thought he would ever be treated that way.

  • ChrisR266 : I’m also awed at the sheer fervency of hate that the GOPTEA has for the President. It should wither most right minded people who see it. It withers me at times.

  • PatsyT : I think President Obama may have been too optimistic about Republicans wanting to help the country but you can’t blame him for wanting to see the best in people.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, Kes and chris, maybe naive is not the best word for it. I think that compromise is part of his innate nature and he really thought he could bring them together. That is not being naive. He just didn’t think, after that incredible election, that the hatred was still there and that they would risk the crumbling of our entire economy just to get him.

  • kesmarn : Yes, he may have never encountered the sort of madness that he came to grips with in the Repubs before in his life.

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: Bingo! Exactly. They’d push their own mothers off the cliff to get the White House back. The nation is starting to recognize that now, as well.

  • Sabreen60 : Kes I don’t know if I think he was naive. Maybe it was naive to believe that he could get two opposing parties to come together for the good of the nation. Maybe it’s naive for him to believe he can get countries who are fighting each other to sit down at the table. I think because he was often able to get people to come together at Harvard and the IL State Senate he thought he’d be able to.

  • AdLib : Kes – I wouldn’t use the term naive though I do think Obama underestimated the willingness of a political party to destroy its own country rather than accept not being in power. It is hard to believe.

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: You are speaking truth, I think, and the outcome is still the same. HE had to come to terms with the reality that the GOPTEA would never, ever, act like he was President. They would never, ever, give him the respect and listening ear he was due. He gets that now.

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, I think he was naive. I think he thought that by the power of his logic he could bring the two sides together. But he underestimated their pure hatred of him.

  • AdLib : Chris – I agree, the majority of Americans and voters are not extremists and have typically been turned off by extremists and angry partisans. By all rights and if history is a guide, after seeing how insane and dangerous the Baggers are, they should be turned out in droves.

  • Emerald1943 : Sabreen, nobody has been happier to see those gloves come off then I have been! I have been wanting to see him do this for a long time. Every speech is fiery now! And he is calling out Boner and McConnell by name.

  • kesmarn : So in a sense, AdLib, do you feel he was a bit naive?

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: I do agree with you. I just tend to see things through the rhetorical strategy lens versus the internalized humanistic one. I do think Obama at base, believed in the potential and did his damnedest to change the game. Now, the game is really threatening the lifeblood of the nation and he’s decided enough is enough.

  • AdLib : I’ll take a minority position here and say that it wasn’t Obama having a long term strategy, I think he earnestly believed he could bring Repubs and Dems together over core American issues. He just took a long time to realize it was futile and the Baggers made it crystal clear to him this summer.

  • Sabreen60 : Thanks Chris: I understand and agree with you. However, the polls I saw blamed the President for the debt ceiling debacle. Maybe if the same questions were asked now, the outcome would be different. Anyway, I definitely agree with you that he had to be a compromiser – even if it pissed off some folks on the left who didn’t understand. I never wanted him to come into office with guns blazing. I wanted him to try to work with the Repubs. He did attempt that and they slapped or kicked each of his cheeks. So now the gloves come off.

  • ChrisR266 : And all: I do have the deep belief that there is a large, reasonable and centrist right population in the electorate who do at base understand the social contract. They know you can’t elect all the fascists with GOPTEA masks on, and that ultimately, their slash and burn approach to destroying government will ruin the nation. I’m counting on them.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, it was a costly lesson. I just hope he has learned in time so that he doesn’t lose this election. It is an uphill battle!

  • AdLib : Chris – I think that Obama’s nature is to seek consensus and I also think he believed his mandate was to change the tone in DC and bring people together. I respect him for his principles on this, I wish it was possible and supported him on it for a while but I do think he was a bit too committed to that concept and the reality that the Repubs would not do anything to help the country, an idea that he could probably not imagine a politician having, is something he just wasn’t recognizing. He gets it now, after they have blackmailed America and risked destroying its government and economy repeatedly.

  • bito : Two things: do we need a post to suggest commercials for PBO and the Dems? AB and AdLib had some good ones. And I forgot the other one :-)

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, I saw that one! It was great. The Prez is fantastic when he is in “campaign mode”

  • ChrisR266 : Em: and, this week, Boehner fails to keep his ducks in line in the House and Obama is blasting at him and McConnell full guns next to the bridge in Cincinnati. And, on top of it, the TeaPty is now going to primary Boehner with a candidate. If that young democratic one who challenged him two years ago runs again, he just might win.

  • kesmarn : Sorry — numerous distractions here. I agree, Chris, I think the folks who describe Obama as “playing the long game” have it right. He’s patiently waited to position himself just where he is now. And he has the advantage at this point, imo.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, well….crickets .

  • AdLib : Gotcha Bito!

  • bito : We can discuss this sometime on TO/OT AdLib, this is not a proper forum, OK?

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, BINGO!! I think that’s the strategy exactly! Every speech he has been making, he is hitting them hard, and by name!

  • AdLib : EM – The Repubs did this exact thing I think Reid should have done, they rammed through the Bush Tax Cuts through reconciliation swiftly after being blocked by Dems in the Senate. Quick and done. Reid was a key reason Obama twisted in the wind for a year and a half.

  • ChrisR266 : Sabreen: I’m back and on an even keel again. Here’s what I think happened. For these last two years, the President was between a rock and a hard place in hell. If he didn’t play nice, he would be called an obstructor and worse. He took the risk of being the compromiser because he looks less worse to people out in the center when he’s trying to compromise. After two years, he’s essentially made the case that He’s tried, and the GOPTEA obviously hasn’t. He can now attack with both barrels, knowing that GOPTEA behavior can no longer be explained away by anything but raw spite and reckless obstruction. He’s laid out a pretty fair plan. They’re imploding. Not a bad situation.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I missed it! :-) But then I miss a lot these days! LOL

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, that’s a good point. We were screaming for him to use reconciliation early on. And you are right. That gave the thugs time to weaken it down as they do on everything.

  • AdLib : Em – Our topic is possible GOP or Dem control of power in DC in 2012, what will happen one way or the other.

  • AdLib : Bito – What I’m saying is that he’s known Lieberman and Bayh and Nelso for many years, he knew where they were on things, he could have felt them out early on, he just proceeded with one poor decision after another. IMO, a good Senate leader would have quickly moved for Reconciliation once the initial effort was filibustered and not have let it drag out for a year and a half which weakened the ACA and helped squander Obama’s political capital.

  • Emerald1943 : What happened to our topic? Are we doing “random” tonight?

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I’ve been listening to his speeches when he goes out on his Jobs bill. He is incredible at reaching the audience. There is no one any better than he is.

  • AdLib : Em – Just as a majority opposed raising the debt ceiling until Obama explained it to them (most thought it had to do with future spending), I think many are just uninformed about what’s going on in DC, all they hear is that nothing can get done so they blame everyone. Part of Obama’s campaign will be to educate people about who is threatening America and government’s ability to function.

  • Emerald1943 : Bito, too bad we don’t have those earmarks anymore! :-)

  • bito : Goodness, AdLib, he has a damn Caucus to deal with! Liberman was the cog ,Bayah Nelson, Webb and Nelson (FL). He can’t make Senators vote the way he want’s them to without compromises.!!

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, he could have done it last January, but for some unknown reason, he wimped out on it.

  • kesmarn : I know it’s not new info,but the Prez’s ratings are very substantially above congress’s.

  • AdLib : I’ll saty this, if the Dems win the Senate back, the House and the WH, Reid had better get the filibuster rule moderated.

  • Emerald1943 : Sabreen, I think the people who blame the President are the PL idiots who just want something to gripe about. Anybody who really looked into the deal would know that the Prez scored a win on it.

  • ChrisR266 : Sabreen: I get what happened here, when I get back, I’ll give you my take on it.

  • AdLib : Bito – Reid was terrible on the whole ACA thing, setting up all kinds of flawed scenarios that crashed and burned. He waited until it was almost too late to pass the ACA through Reconcilliation when many of us were calling for it a year earlier. In fact, I’d ask you to give an example of good strategy he’s exhibited.

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, I, too, live apart from it in a very rural, mountainous area. But I sense things from the blogs I read every day. Something seems to be brewing.

  • ChrisR266 : Em: that thought made me so upset, I gotta go smoke it off. be right back.

  • Sabreen60 : One of things that concerns me when you read the polls is that people are blaming President Obama as well as the Repubs for the debt ceiling mess. I don’t get it.

  • ChrisR266 : Em: If they have the sustenance and subsequent energy to do so, yes. It’s so much worse for people than I can wrap my head around. I admit, I live relatively removed from it as a college professor. The gaps between us all are so large, it freaks me out.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, he’s been on Dr. Evil Kasich’s ass too. But not as much as the Wisconsin thing.

  • bito : Give me one example AdLib re: Reid that he was so terrible on?

  • AdLib : EM – I’m not crazy about Ed but on this I agree, he has been a strong promoter of the cause in WI and I do give him props for that.

  • ChrisR266 : No senatorial leader will ever be successful unless the electorate gives him or her a filibuster proof senate. That’s just reality until the Senate changes the filibuster rules.

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, do you think it’s possible that the poor and down-trodden will actually rise up and take to the streets? I’m serious…

  • Emerald1943 : Bito, LMAO! That was good!

  • kesmarn : Oh so true, b’ito.

  • ChrisR266 : The more havoc the TP wreaks between now and 2012 the better. The havoc they wreak is not pissy little stuff, they’re messing with the health and viability of this nation big time. A few more months of it might be all we’ll need.

  • AdLib : Bito – I don’t see Reid as a very successful or strategic leader. He was behind the curve throughout Obama’s first 2 years. I would like another more startegic and aggressive Dem in that place.

  • bito : And k’es is just a tired RN,Em

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I will give Ed Schultz credit for keeping the Wisconsin thing on the front burner. He’s done a good job with that.

  • kesmarn : Chris, I wish we really did run health care. I’d fire Big Pharma and Big Insurance. But — yes — we do cover the doctors’ asses! -D

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, you are 100% correct! Thanks! (I’m a retired RN)

  • ChrisR266 : Agreed, Kes. Nurses run health care and carry Doctors’ asses. Everyone who has ever been sick knows that.

  • AdLib : Chris – OH and WI are real bellweathers. The people are rising up against the Baggers nationwide and the MSM is doing all it can to keep that reality in question.

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, yes…especially nurses! I resemble that remark! :-)

  • kesmarn : Especially nurses, Chris.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, the elections can’t come fast enough! How much more damage can they do between now and next November??

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib and Em: And, you just don’t fcuk with firefighters, teachers, nurses, and state caseworkers. What an idiotic thing to do.

  • bito : I call BS on that about Reid AdLib, he has a caucus to deal with and every Senator wants to be President. He herds cats constantly the same as PBO

  • AdLib : Em – I don’t think it’s even a question, the Baggers are right now setting up another shut down for the nation. I mean, how many of these are Americans going to go through before they go out aggressively to vote out these Bagger terrorists?

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: Agreed. What the GOP in Ohio didn’t count on was that for many GOP, their loyalty is on social issues, not on economic ones. You slice them off at the knees economically, and people get real mad, and realize they’ve been duped.

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, Yes, I have been encouraged by the SB5 thing. That’s great!

  • AdLib : Chris and Emerald – Americans may be passive but everyone has their limit and it is ignorant of history to not recognize that.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I almost hope the baggers keep on obstructing things because a lot of people are watching now.

  • ChrisR266 : Em: Well, at least in Buckeye land, if opposition to SB 5 is any indication, they have and can be moved to protect their own interests. I worried about this for the last few years. It just took an arrogant asshole governor and legislature to push them to the edge.

  • AdLib : I think many Baggers will be unemployed after Nov 2012. The pudnuts all pile on Obama’s poor polling but always leave out that Repubs poll far worse.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, yes I think so. They just think they can cram anything down our throats and that we will just sit down and take it.

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: Yes, I think they think that.

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, they are p*ssed off everywhere, but how will they vote??

  • AdLib : The real question is, do the corps and Baggers and wealthy think that the majority of the country will just accept being crammed into pens and slaughtered?

  • ChrisR266 : AdLib: I’m becoming a bit less worried about losing the senate. People are starting to get really pissed off at the GOPTEA. Even here in Ohio, I’m hearing talk like I haven’t in recent years.

  • Emerald1943 : Chris and Adlib, it seems like we are getting hit from all sides. Between this re-districting, voter suppression and the money from God-knows-who, I don’t know how we can hang on. I’m trying to stay optimistic.

  • ChrisR266 : Em: Nope, not trying to hide it at all. They arrogantly proclaim (in less blatant terms) “to the victors go the spoils.” Real democratic of them, ‘eh?

  • AdLib : EM – Actually, with Warren running in MA, I think we can hold the Senate.

  • AdLib : Bito – I don’t know, Reid has rarely shown a great deal of backbone and if the Dems lost the WH and only had the Senate, with Baggers and the new Pres threatening defaults and shut downs, I could see them going along with things and saying they did so to protect the people.

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, it’s so transparent! They aren’t even trying to hide what they are doing.

  • Sabreen60 : My husband I seriously consider moving when he retires.

  • ChrisR266 : Em: Pull up the map; you can google it. They drew all these “ribbon” districts that cut narrow swaths through like 10 or 12 counties, just to protect seats from the growing blue pockets in the state.

  • Emerald1943 : Bito, I don’t hold out much hope there either. We only have to lose four seats to lose control in the Senate.

  • bito : It depends a great deal on the Senate, AdLib if PBO was defeated, they would be the last resort frm some very draconian actions

  • PatsyT : Wow I know how the europeans felt when they were considering leaving their homeland … very sad

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, that’s incredible! 900 miles? How can that be?

  • AdLib : Patsy – My wife and I truly did discuss whether we would stay in the US if McCain/Palin won. Not out of protest, out of fear that the nation would come apart under them.

  • Sabreen60 : Kes, I didn’t see your comment. My cat is always blowing my cover.

  • ChrisR266 : Em: Uh, I only think we had one left, and that was pretty much out of the mix yesterday when the senate passed the new redistricting map. So, he’s now officially out of rights to strip. One district is 900 miles in circumference. 900 effin miles.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I really think it’s coming.

  • Emerald1943 : Patsy, take my word for it. St. Maarten is paradise on earth! That’s where I’ll be!

  • AdLib : Would the American people, who have proven to be so lazy and passive, really rise up?

  • PatsyT : My husband will move the entire family to New Zealand or something like that

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, STRIPPED..not stipped.

  • kesmarn : I know this sounds bizarre, but I just have to floss my teeth. I had popcorn earlier! BRB!

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, how many rights has Dr. Evil stipped today?

  • ChrisR266 : Evening, Patsy, good to read you!

  • AdLib : Ending the ACA, tax cuts for the wealthy, vetoing unemployment, signing onto killing Medicare and SS…

  • ChrisR266 : LOL, Kes: Dr. Evil is blowing all around town pissing people off. Nothing new here, LMAO.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, oh God above please help us! I don’t think the UNITED part would make it.

  • Emerald1943 : Chris, it’s nice to be seen! :-)

  • AdLib : That actually makes for a good first topic, what do you think would happen if a Repub won the White House in 2012?

  • PatsyT : Hi Chris!

  • ChrisR266 : Hi AdLib and Em. Glad you’re both here to be seen, too. Hi Sabreen and Kes.

  • bito : Night Sue, and yes Sabreen, we follow you on the twit,

  • kesmarn : Hey, Chris! How’s life in the state cap, home of Dr. Evil Kasich?

  • Sabreen60 : Hi Chris!

  • Emerald1943 : Hi Chris! Glad to see you! :-)

  • AdLib : Hey Chris!

  • Sabreen60 : Did the glowing cat do it????

  • SueInCa : Adlib I kind of thought that too, but did not have time too look it up, grandson is getting cranky lol

  • ChrisR266 : Good evening, all friends!

  • kesmarn : It’s that glowing kitty cat that gave you away.

  • Sabreen60 : Geez. My cover has been completely blown.

  • AdLib : Aw, sorry to see you go Sue!

  • kesmarn : Sue…I hope he relents and lets you have the ‘puter back later!

  • AdLib : Sue – It would still need a vote in Congress to send an Amendment to the states or each state would have to have a Constitutional convention.

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, have a great night! See ya tomorrow! :-)

  • Sabreen60 : Ahh Bito. You know my alias :)

  • kesmarn : I wondered if you were one and the same, Sabreen!

  • SueInCa : Ok guys gotta go, the grandson just realized he asked for the computer at 7 lol. have a great talk everyone. Have to get him an ipad

  • bito : Hello @QueenMerytAmon :-)

  • kesmarn : The Confederate “head” seems to be alive and well. Weird religion, bigotry and an urge to establish unpaid labor… :-(

  • AdLib : Kes – I am right with you on both propositions, that the corps are sitting on their money to hurt the economy and Obama and get their puppet in the WH…and, I don’t know that America will make it peacefully through a GOP Presidency at this point.

  • SueInCa : 24 states now do not have the death penalty, 10 more and it becomes ratified for all 50 states, at least a talk show guy said that the other night during the travesty in Georgia. You need 34. It was the Amnesty Intl guy

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, I think it’s possible we could go down under our own weight, so to speak. We are in deep trouble now. I don’t know if anyone can fix what ails us.

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, I’m not sure how the Russian thought it would happen. But north vs. south sounds about right.

  • bito : Em Missouri was right

  • SueInCa : Hello Bito, Sabreen and Patsy

  • kesmarn : I only knew it was Missouri ’cause I still had the tab open, Em!

  • AdLib : Hi Sabreen!

  • Emerald1943 : Sabreen! Hi there! Glad you’re here! :-)

  • kesmarn : Hey, Sabreen!

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, I thought that it was Missouri but could not remember for sure. Having a senior moment! :-)

  • bito : I’m having a difficult time with MM lately. He thinks PBO can just ram through anything he wants to.

  • Sabreen60 : Good Evening Planeteers

  • kesmarn : I wonder what his scenario was, Em? North vs South?

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, some Russian sociologist predicted last year that the US would break up in the near future.

  • kesmarn : Looks like Missouri, Em.

  • Emerald1943 : Bito, where was that case again? I can’t remember where it was…what state?

  • kesmarn : I agree, Em. I don’t think it’a an overstatement to say that the country might not survive a Repub Prez right now.

  • AdLib : What are the odds that, with the extremist Baggers and GOP, the Death Penalty could be eliminated in many states?

  • kesmarn : At a brief glance, it looks like more than mistaken identity, b’ito. More like the guy was framed?

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, please…NO! We cannot let that happen! They are doing everything in their power to throw this election to the thugs.

  • SueInCa : adlib i think it is because they are on their way to another crash in the markets, speculators like Goldman Sachs………

  • bito : Hey all, k’es I think it’s worse than the Troy Davis case from what Karoli’s article says and links to.

  • kesmarn : I think it’s more likely that they’re holding out until the public buckles and elects a Repub Prez and Congress, AdLib.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, that’s interesting. Michael Moore is an intriguing character for sure. I’m no conspiracy nut, but then they are stockpiling a ton of cash right now.

  • AdLib : Michael Moore proposed a questionable theory about why corporations are hording their $2 trillion, he says they know an upheaval is coming and so are stockpiling money in preparation. I don’t agree, I think that’s a bit much to assume but it was an interesting thought.

  • Emerald1943 : Kes, it is another Troy Davis situation. He was beaten by police to get a confession.

  • SueInCa : Em he just posted it here and I saved for reading tomorrow, thanks for the heads up

  • kesmarn : Hey, b’ito. I’m going to read that more thoroughly in a bit. That does look like another Troy Davis situation, though.

  • Emerald1943 : Patsy! Hi there! Glad you’re here! :-)

  • PatsyT : Hi guys

  • kesmarn : Hey, Patsy!

  • AdLib : Hey Bito! Happy 500! And hey Patsy!

  • SueInCa : Thanks Bito I bookmarked it

  • Emerald1943 : Bito! Hi there! Thanks for posting! That is such a sad situation. I wonder if he’s getting any help.

  • PatsyT : Hi Guys, How is everyone tonight?

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, the TP isn’t doing much to help their image right now with a potential shutdown threat…again!

  • kesmarn : I hope you can put up with me. Tired -+- and then I become the Queen of the Typo!

  • bito : I am trying to draw attention to this case now, before many of us have to hold another deathwatch like Troy Davis. «link»

  • AdLib : I agree with both of you, Em and Sue, there is only so much time left for government to address the joblessness and poverty of so many before it blows up. I don’t think it’s that close yet but another year and with the GOP oppressing the majority harder…who knows?

  • SueInCa : Kes Hello!

  • Emerald1943 : Kes! That’s great…you can hang out with us all night! :-)

  • kesmarn : No work tonight! Halleluiah!

  • Emerald1943 : Hi Google!

  • AdLib : Hey Kes! Nice to see you so early!

  • Emerald1943 : Kes!!! Hellooo! Glad to see you!

  • kesmarn : Good Friday evening, friends……and Google!

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I think it’s more than just this case. I think it’s about the inability of our govt. to actually do anything at all.

  • SueInCa : Thanks I will search tomorrow

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, it’s worth reading. I think he posted in on TO/OT.

  • AdLib : Emerald – I welcome people being brought to discomfort with the death penalty over this case. I have issues at times with LOD and his self-righteous elitism. The truth is, some people don’t “get” things until there is a glaring injustice.

  • SueInCa : Adlib Moore is right

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I believe so too. Something is getting ready to blow up! The people are really frustrated. There seems to be a tension that I’ve not noticed before.

  • SueInCa : Em no I am catching up I will find it and read for ure

  • SueInCa : Funny england does not believe in it but we took our judicial system and based it on the Magna Carta right?

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, that’s how I feel too. We have to protest every one of them. Bito posted a story about a guy named Reginald Clemons. Did you see that?

  • AdLib : EM – It is encouraging to see so many people continuing to discuss Troy Davis and the death penalty. And the Wall Street protest has been making a bit of tv headway, through Colbert and KO. Michael Moore was on KO saying that he thinks that there is a powerful dissatisfactio9n bubbling under the surface of the nation due to all the corporate dominance and suppression of what the public wants…and if it’s not addressed soon, something may cause it to erupt all across the country.

  • SueInCa : Em every one hurts, there is no distinction to me, it is WRONG

  • SueInCa : I am learning all the fashion terms to talk with customers, we are personal shoppers almost, every gal likes to shop

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, Lawrence O’Donnell did a really good piece last night on his show about the death penalty, saying that if you did not get upset by the other executions, then you weren’t really upset about it at all. He made a really good point. Are we still upset when there is no question of guilt, like with the guy in Texas who killed James Byrd?

  • SueInCa : I might get my husband to try them. I like the fabric in their skinny jeans

  • AdLib : Sue – I was a Levis guy for a very long time but some of the Gap cuts just fit better.

  • SueInCa : Not at all that is the terms used at the GAP……

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, Oh thanks. I’m behind the times, I guess.

  • SueInCa : Banana Republic

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, what’s BR?

  • AdLib : Sue, right. Such a feeling of helplessness as someone was slowly put to death.

  • SueInCa : adlib we are levi’s people and have our favorite numbers. I am a BR gal though

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I have been pleased to see lots of conversation today on MSM about the death penalty. I hope this is the beginning of the end.

  • SueInCa : Adlib

  • AdLib : Sue – Then that sounds very cool! I do like the Gap but like most clothing manufacturers, their fabrics have gotten thinner when it comes to jeans.

  • SueInCa : Adlib that is what it felt like, that night i listened on the radio too, note to you on your article

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, I was literally confused. I didn’t know how to feel at that time. It is not easy to deal with KNOWING that someone is dying at that particular time.

  • AdLib : Emerald – I saw that, thanks for posting it. I am still so upset about that slow motion murder of someone who wasn’t guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Kind of felt like standing by while someone was murdered in the next room.

  • SueInCa : Adlib I think so, the people are really friendly and it will give me a chance to meet more people here, now if we move I will be back in my old hood

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, OK..that’s a good place to start. I posted some info about the two men in NC that were released from prison today by the Innocence Project. They had been in prison about 20 yrs. for murder they didn’t do.

  • SueInCa : Adlib I was tired out when i got up this morning

  • AdLib : Sue – So does the Gap job look to be a good experience?

  • AdLib : Sue – All that yelling can tucker you out! ;-)

  • SueInCa : yes, a temp position until Christmas. I will be ready to take another vacation by then

  • AdLib : Emerald – I think we have a few topics on the table, namely, Class Warfare and executions.

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, didn’t I read that you’ve been training for your new job?

  • SueInCa : I think I am a little tired

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, LOL

  • SueInCa : I AM YELLING I AM SO FAR AWAY LOL…..

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, what’s our subject tonight? Or are we going random?

  • AdLib : Sue – I’ll tell ya whut…Bobby is hilarious. BTW, your caps lock is on!

  • SueInCa : ADLIB MY GRANDSON LOVED BOBBY

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, of course…King of the Hill! LOL

  • AdLib : She’s 8 but obviously, Dad has taught her to appreciate the finer things.

  • SueInCa : HANK IS MY FAVORITE CONSERVATIVE

  • SueInCa : WE WERE SITTING ON THAT BEACH WHEN A WHIRLING DERVISH STRUCK. IT WAS WEIRD LIKE A MIMI TORNADO

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, how old is your daughter?

  • AdLib : Very cool, Emerald! My daughter’s watching King of the Hill right now.

  • Emerald1943 : Adlib, this is so neat. My NPR TV is doing a feature on Placido Domingo and his music tonight, so I will have a great soundtrack to go with VP

  • SueInCa : LOL OF COURSE EM

  • AdLib : Sue – You got it!

  • Emerald1943 : Sue, on second thought…

  • SueInCa : I WILL TAKE THE SAND CHAIR ON KAANAPALI BEACH

  • Emerald1943 : Hi Sue! What?

  • Emerald1943 : Adlibl, wonderful! I’ll take the big overstuffed recliner in the corner! :-)

  • AdLib : Hey Sue!

  • AdLib : Heh! Meant “hors”!

  • SueInCa : OK PEOPLE i AM PUTTING MY GRANDSON OFF AS LONG AS I CAN HIS BATTERIES JUST WENT DEAD IN THE XBOX CONTROLLER, DAMN DOLLAR STORE

  • AdLib : Hi Emerald! Yes, you get your pick of couches and hos d’oeurves!

  • Emerald1943 : Hi Adlib! Am I the first here tonight?

  • Emerald1943 : Hi everyone! I just heard that lovely POP

  • AdLib : Vox Populi starts soon, don’t forget to say “hi” when you arrive!

  • AdLib : Vox Populi, our live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7 pm PDT. Hope to see you then!
