This weekend, we invite you to reach back to songs you enjoyed when you were younger or songs from before you were born. Classical, jazz, blues, pop or rock, songs from the past that stay with you.

There are so many wonderful classical pieces I enjoy, I could fill up the whole post with them. Having to narrow them down is tough, I just picked one from Tchaikovsky and Mozart but there are so many others on my favorites list. Following them somewhat chronologically are an eclectic mix of oldies but goodies:

Waltz from Swan Lake – Tchaikovsky

The Marriage of Figaro – Mozart

Limehouse Blues – Django Reinhardt

Stardust – Louie Armstrong

Rhapsody in Blue – George Gershwin

That’ll Be The Day – Buddy Holly

Shout – Isley Brothers

You Really Got Me – The Kinks

Whole Lotta Love – Led Zeppelin

A Whiter Shade of Pale – Procol Harum

I better stop now or this post will go on for pages. Your turn!

Pledge drive on the local PBS station, they’re showing a 1969 TV special about these two, IMO the best duo ever:

Before my time, but a good one, the Glenn Miller orchestra, “In The Mood”. Before MTV there were “Soundies”, juke boxes that would play 16MM films of songs, not sure, but this could be one.

I heard a lot of Glenn Miller while growing up. My parents were big fans. Woody Herman and Tommy Dorsey too. And of course, Frank Sinatra.
