Hi Planet,

I did it again. I really like Aphex Twin. Sarah is an inspiration for my creative process.

Tell me about it. I hear you. But most of the trolls on the left don’t mind if you disagree. It’s just that using one of the most heinous political leaders of modern times to denigrate and disparage politicians today simply trivializes what Hitler did.

Politicians today are very typical. Anyone keeping up with current events can usually predict their behavior. That’s why the system has broken down. Hitler was a typical politician at the start of his political career but pathology soon took over and became his “raison d’etre.”

Are you calling me a “”troll” dilden?
Should I be offended that by writing about my experiences in Europe, where I was born and raised after all, someone thinks that I’m a “snob?”

I for one am very interested in the opinions of people from other countries, some people are not it seems. Makes me sometimes wonder why I’ve spent 3 years of my life blogging on American sites. If it wasn’t for my American friends, and the love and respect I feel for them, I might not both to share any views again. When all that people care about is what happens within their own borders, it’s quite hard to be different and quite sad to find yourself being labeled in the process.

Quelly, what The Planet is about is promoting Free Expression and proving that people can have honest discussions and even when they disagree, still treat each other with respect.

I’ve had disagreements on issues with many members on this site but what’s unique is that nearly every time, it’s resulted in thoughtful conversations about why each side believes the way they do.

Fortunately too, The Planet is not a an echo chamber where everyone, out of fear of being attacked or due to peer pressure, says exactly what they think others want to hear.

It’s also not a community where people lash out because someone has a differing POV. It is that kind of valuing individualistic thinking that makes this site unique and attractive to its membership.

The narrow mindsets of lock step thinking and dishonest conformity, we’d rather leave to the Republicans, Tea Baggers and those who can’t handle the truth.

Just as you have the Freedom of Expression here to post your creative works, others have the Freedom of Expression to give their honest reactions. Surely, you prefer honest reactions to being patronized?

I post creative works here often, including articles from God, Satan, and even Hitler which I know from the outset may offend some members. I’ve posted videos too. And I’ve had members express at times that they didn’t like this one or that one (in fact, check out my recent God’s Blog post and you’ll see one such comment there).

There are plenty of sites where it is the way things are that those who agree are friends and those who disagree are enemies. The Planet is not a site where such simplistic binary thinking has a home, we endeavor to create an atmosphere where people feel free to express themselves, whether their opinion is in the majority or minority.

As we see every day, the simple absolutism of the RW degrades our ability in this nation to have substantive conversations about issues. They substitute intolerance for reason and clearly don’t become wiser for that choice.

Their mentality is the Bushism, “Either you’re with us or you’re against us.” Such a rejection of critical thinking over the need for affirmation and conformity well explains the hatred and lunacy (of the Teabaggers) that now is the engine driving their party.

So, we strive to make The Planet a microcosm and example of how the real planet should be. Where people freely express themselves and their ideas, accepting the right of others to have differences of opinions without hostility or demonization and even be open to considering such opposing views. The focus here is on becoming smarter (which I have thanks to the diverse and insightful membership here) and learning more about how others see things and why they feel the way they do.

It can take a bit of adjustment after spending a bit of time at HP and other confrontational blogs but in my completely impartial opinion, I think it’s a lot more satisfying blogging experience.

Goodness “Quid.” You are new to the Planet, I understand, and while you are welcome here, please, you must understand that the site often has polite (mostly ;-) ) disagreements. Certainly, you did not expect that every post gets 100% support and agreement, did you? Would one even appreciate or enjoy such a site?
Please, enjoy and appreciate, but I will guarantee you that all your posts will not please every one, nor will mine or anyone’s. Look though past entries before jumping to a conclusion , please.

    Bottom line?

We are all HUMAN. Period. We breathe, eat, sleep, pee, and poop the same. Hate to disappoint anyone, but guess what? It’s a fact.

I hate to burst your personal bubble but it is fucking reality.

However, if you can convince me I pee and poop differently than any other human being on this planet (and I’m not referring to PlantPOV — this is global)…let me know. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

At the age (okay ALMOST) of 61, if we, as living, breathing human beings, can not see beyond our individual, bigoted, and selfish selves, then we are forever doomed.

Shame on us, shame on my parents & grandparents, and shame on those believing they are better than any other living, breathing, human being in the world. Shame. Shame. Shame.

    Yo Shereef and K,

For various reasons, I spend way to much time alone. Not open to Planet discourse, BUT, called self-invented psychotherapy; cheaper, but not necessarily as effective. Ha, ha, ha…

However, and so neither of you think I’m ready to jump, my major in college was Business/Psychology. The Psych aspect was the most intriguing, informative, and enlightening.

I should have stuck with it. Damn, could be making $100/hour. However, I’m not that selfish…

Because of the electronic overdubbing it took me some time to understand what Sister Sarah was saying. So is Mr Twin implying that to reduce the growth of government we need to let loose packs of wild dogs to chow down on Grandma and Grandpa thereby reducing expenditures for medicare? I’m just a bit confused.

There is a much simpler answer to the question of the cost of government. I’ll answer the question with a question. Why are we still equiping a military to fight a nuclear war against the non existent Soviet Union? Why are we still subsidizing banks, car companies, agribusiness, pharmacutical companies? Answer. Because both the democrat and republican leadership want it that way.

I like Aphex Twin. However, I created the video. I am pleased that my work inspired you to reflect upon stuff.

I don’t recall putting grandma or grandpa or any medical imagery into this composition so I can’t respond to those comments. The two dogs are domestic pets and not part of any packs that I am aware of. Nonetheless, the suggestion of wild dogs can be taken from it I suppose but I was actually sort wanting to see if I could get something of a satanic presence working with the teeth and stuff.

Overall, if there was anything I wanted to say in this video it was more or less that I think Sarah is a lot like Hitler: a dangerous and wrong person that seems to have an odd appeal to a broad range of desperate people. As far as any message in the soundtrack, those were simply soundbites take at random that help to intensify her already annoying voice. Her continual whining about government is a bit confusing since she wants to be part of it so badly yet quits her job as governor. She’s one strange bird alright.

Those other voices were from a couple of her groupies from one of her rallies during the 08 campaign. They’re telling us how “Fox News is the only channel that is fair and balanced.”

      You Betcha!

I must beg to differ with your idea that Palin is like Hitler or that your situation in American is anything like the desperation of a pre-Hitler Germany, it’s a sore point with me. This comparison by both the RW and the Left is unwarranted and used purely as a form of insult in most cases, while it also insults the memory of my struggling family and relatives at this very difficult time in our history and their lives.

As far as I know, the majority of your people are not literally starving, your unemployment figures are high but it doesn’t affect more than half of your population. You have a stable government led by a man who is not corrupt, and wants to make life better for the citizens who are suffering or have fallen between the cracks for far too long, and although there is a sense of desperation, your country as a whole is not ready to give up it’s freedoms to the whims of a foreign madman.

Hitler lived for the feeling of power and the sense of importance it would give to a man who had never excelled at anything much in his life. He wanted revenge on the people who had demeaned him and rejected him in his own country of Austria. In the life of any dictator or tyrant, there is usually a history of personal rejection, and to acquire the power to lead a country, whether by force or cunning, then barge ahead regardless of what the people want or need by installing intimidation and fear, might sound like Palin or the GOP, but the difference is huge and the outcome would be too.

Palin’s main interests are Palin and money. There may be a few dim bulbs who enjoy having people thinking for them and telling them what to do, but America will never allow itself to spiral into the desperate void that gripped the people of prewar Germany because most of you still have a choice and most of you still have a life with hopes for the future. We, meaning my family in Germany had only two choices, to live or to die in a country which had quite literally hit rock bottom economically, and as far as I can see, your freedoms are still intact, you can stop the party of would be aggression by voting against them in every election.

If everyone came together to vote for the common good of the country, it’s principles, it’s proud history of freedom for all instead of just selfish personal agendas, these nutters would be beaten every time by the sheer percentage of the sane to the insane. Your vote is your strength, you should ALL use it. Anyone who sits out any election, will be responsible for the fate of your country, for some, 8 years of Bush wasn’t enough it seems, they need to be reminded by having another 4 or 8 years of the same, I pity their foolishness and the impact another GOP administration in the WH would have on so many of you.

You have every right to make your video, I just stated that I disagree with the comparison no matter who chooses to use it. The Planet is a place for differing opinions, yours, mine and everyone else’s too.

Just for the record, I was addressing your comment about Palin above, and not the content of your video.

Points not often understood by many when throwing the “Hitler Badge” around.
Hitler did have overwhelming support amongst the voters and what of Palin? more people believe in UFO’s than supporting her for president.

My great grand father left Germany because of all the wars and ensuing poverty from them, and this was in 1898. My father said he new at least 5 languages and joked that they would wake in he morning and wonder what country “owned” them today.
WWI broke Germany’s back and spirit.

On August 19, 1934, 9 out of 10 Germans endorsed Adolf Hilter

Yes bito they did endorse him, when you have no other option than to see your children starve to death, what’s left I wonder?

I accidently stumbled on a few photos of my grandparents, a young, newly married couple who had just adopted my 9 month old mother and made sure she had food while they did without. The photos looked like two skeletons wearing clothes, I didn’t even recognize them.

I have just lost a friend of two years arguing about the same subject and my belief that to compare America now to the Hitler years is number one, ridiculous, and number two, as I wrote above, an insult to what people were really going through when the economy and all hope fell through the floor. I stuck to my beliefs that the GOP are not comparable to the SS of Nazi Germany, and consequently lost a friend because of it.

These people who fling about the Hitler/Nazi and Communist cards, have no idea what they are talking about.

I agree that there are some on the Right who are positively evil or let’s say insane, however to equate them with the horrendous evil done by the Nazi party in the name of the German people, is pure fantasy on the part of the people who want to make it so.

Kalima, I am a bit concerned about who will bother to learn history. After the Beck-a-thon the other day I heard some one say that they liked Beck because he taught them history!!!
He knows history like I know interplanetary space travel.
Soon there will be no one left that even remembers the great depression or even has talked to any one who lived it. Without actual voices or without an interest grade school history, I worry.

If it wasn’t so sad about this person claiming that Becky had taught them history, I would be falling off my sofa with laughter.

Again I must stress better education for everyone and repeat that no matter who tries to sugarcoat it, history is one thing that can’t be ignored or rewritten, even if their Bible can.

The majority of violent groups like the Taliban for instance, are made up of a large percentage of people who can’t read or write. Go figure. Ignorance and lack of education can and does promote violence as an outlet. The more we learn about others and other nations, it’s people and it’s not so terrifying cultures and beliefs, the less we might be inclined to hate, distrust and want to blow them all to kingdom come.

Those who chose to remain ignorant for lack of interest in anything further than their own back yards, are lazy and immature. To have an arse like Beck thinking for them will be their downfall. Good luck with that!
