• PatsyT : All the Best to you Dear Bito Have a lovely evening

  • bitohistory : night all, been fun,again

  • bitohistory : We will have to ask AdLib about the Free Fruity Drinks at the pool bar! Just read that on a tweet.

  • PatsyT : You have a wonderful evening Blues Tiger

  • Blues Tiger : I will call it a night , it has been a pleasure…

  • PatsyT : Nighty night Khirad

  • Blues Tiger : I have “nurse” friends

  • bitohistory : «link»

  • bitohistory : Latest tweets from Vegas.

  • Khirad : Yup, night.

  • PatsyT : So hey folks Shall we call it a night ?

  • bitohistory : Don’t ever make light of nurses around me, BT!!!

  • Blues Tiger : sleep well

  • kesmarn : I heard that, you naughty Tiger! Good night again!

  • Blues Tiger : Heh Heh Heh

  • Blues Tiger : Ohhhhhhhhh Nurse!!! I have a pain!!! Wanna kiss the boo boo?

  • bitohistory : Good Night, Good Nurse

  • Blues Tiger : Nite kes

  • PatsyT : Lost Wages !! Thats great Kes, You have a wonderful weekend !

  • kesmarn : I guess I should probably call it a day, as well. This has been soo much fun. I wonder if AdLib is having a good time in Lost Wages…? I hope so. Good night, friends!

  • bitohistory : Night D, keep Flagstaff blue. :-)

  • PatsyT : Hey Dilden – you have been a pleasure Thank You!

  • Blues Tiger : adios dildenusa

  • kesmarn : Good night, D. It was good to talk with you!

  • dildenusa : Thanks everyone, been a great evening. see you later.

  • kesmarn : I know! My son just walked into the room and noted that I’ve been tapping away for almost 3 hours!!

  • PatsyT : I am sooo bored with tv one of the reasons I like to chat on blogs with wonderful folks like all of you!

  • kesmarn : People watching! A lifelong habit of mine, b’ito. Never boring.

  • kesmarn :  Patsy, that’s himself!! He even says it’s an advantage to be deaf because when he’s bored with a TV show or a conversation, he can just turn his hearing aids off, which I can’t do. Smartass.

  • bitohistory : public transit is a great place for people watching, and meeting a cross section of folks.

  • PatsyT : Gee think of if the repubs liked out planet like we do we might have those rail lines everywhere

  • PatsyT : kes – for your Dad.. «link»

  • kesmarn : Khirad, that’s encouraging. I think I would just need to be by myself and experiment a while. When I’m with someone I just tend to follow like a silly sheep and I have no idea how to manage on my own, then.

  • kesmarn : He can see the bright side of anything. I guess that’s how you get to be 87.

  • Khirad : I felt like that too Kes, but you get used to reading the schedules and the whole routine. DC was dizzying at first – especially since I was going somewhere different everyday – but I picked it up quickly.

  • bitohistory : k’es,

  • kesmarn : Yes, b’ito. My dad used to call that aroma “invigorating!! ” Talk about an optimist.

  • Khirad : Free Rail Zone «link»

  • kesmarn : Confession: I have a small phobia about public transportation. Namely, I have a hard time reading schedules accurately and I have NO sense of direction. My nightmare is getting on the bus/train to nowhere and ending up in another country.

  • PatsyT : Khirad I love that Portland system too ! Oh ooo you would not need a car -no car payments? No Car Loan with interest? No Car Insurance ? No wonder this stuff is being fought tooth and nail

  • bitohistory : k’es, the industrial belt on the Great Lakes, they all have that same aroma, I think.

  • kesmarn : Free rail, Khirad! That sounds like some sort of Commie Entitlement Program. Does Sharron Angle know about this?

  • PatsyT : BT I love a little performance Art every now and then.

  • kesmarn : b’ito, when I visted my roomie, it smelled just like home, because we have a Sun refinery and a BP one here and they smell forever, too!

  • Khirad : DC’s Metro could get a little expensive, but dayyum, with it there’s no need to drive and it would be cheaper than gas, for sure. I liked it too. Portland’s is free on some routes during some times though. Damn Socialists.

  • kesmarn : Khirad, that Portland light rail looks very cool. I want one here!

  • Blues Tiger : Why is that PT? Do you not bang your head into the wall enough?

  • bitohistory : Gary!! Home of US Steel’s most productive steel mill #1 in the worl. and you could smell that forever also. ;lol: Can you tell I grew up in the area?

  • kesmarn : BT, some people just don’t know when they’re licked.

  • PatsyT : BT, I hope he does! I want to see the debate between the Newt and the Palin!

  • Blues Tiger : Ok, I just have to ask, What do ya’ll think about Newt talking about a run in 2012?

  • PatsyT : Bito is that south near Gary IN?

  • kesmarn : Spent many a college break in Whiting with my roomie!

  • bitohistory : Whiting!! Home of Standard Oil Refineries! Largest in the world!! (and you cold smell it forever)

  • Khirad : You know what I love. I mean absolutely loooove? Portland lightrail. «link»

  • kesmarn : Our area got a boatload of stimulus money and there’s a huge amount of road repair going on now. Which is good to a point. But what about mass transit? I think if it were more accessible, more people would use it.

  • PatsyT : kes and bito when my husband and I were first married we lived in Wicker Park right near the ‘L’ Gorgeous Historic home -but the noise- I used to worry about my babies getting to sleep

  • PatsyT : Now they have to work on the Grid and internet access

  • kesmarn : Funny you should say that, b’ito, My daughter is there this weekend. My college roomie and I used to take the “El” from Whiting (or was it Hammond) to Chicago. Fun times. (She lived in Whiting.)

  • Khirad : Interstates? Of course, been such ever since the Persian Highway. Same reason the English built roads throughout the highlands, etc. With us its more about mobilization from coast to coast though, of course.

  • bitohistory : k’es Chicago is pretty easy to get around on public transit

  • dildenusa : yes bito because Eisenhower saw the autobahns in Germany after world war 2 and he realized it was great for the military

  • kesmarn : I took Amtrak to Syracuse, NY a couple years ago, but the only run was an overnighter — 14 hours. You can drive it in 7. Still, it was fun.

  • Blues Tiger : Movement of troops and equipment quickly to various areas

  • PatsyT : bito that makes sense I think I heard that – for readiness

  • Blues Tiger : It was a cold war type of thingy

  • bitohistory : d., Wasn’t the big push for interstates for the military?

  • PatsyT : I remember the tracks of one in Cleveland Heights OH – My mom remembered riding it.

  • kesmarn : I guess I’m just thinking of public trans that has extensive routes and frequent runs, b’ito. Even NYC here does it reasonably well. Had a good friend who lived a block away from the bus stop in NYC, and the busses ran every 3 minutes! It was great!

  • dildenusa : PT I think there are similar kinds of transportation in other places but not in big cities.

  • Blues Tiger : Downtown denver has a couple I believe PT

  • bitohistory : Patsy NOLA still has a few.

  • Blues Tiger : We have public trans but few use it

  • dildenusa : BT Eisenhower wanted a highway system like the autobahn in Germany that was built by oddly enough, hitler. So after world war 2 all the local politicians jumped on the bandwagon

  • PatsyT : Is San Fran the only city that still runs the cable cars?

  • bitohistory : k’es, You mean public transportation like in the EU and Japan? or the 50’s here?

  • kesmarn : b’ito, a hundred years ago there was a local RR, “the inter-urban,” that had cars running into the major city many times a day. The tracks were almost likes spokes with the hub in the big city. How I wish we still had that!

  • Blues Tiger : if you think about it bito the freeway system although thought of progress and a great idea may be the single most major factor behind the demise of the USA…

  • Khirad : I still remember when those kids were fourwheeling out in the rural Kingman area, I think. There’s a lot of abandoned mines, which were barely covered up. I can imagine that.

  • bitohistory : oddly, I was just talking to my neighbor tonight about the LA streetcars and GM/ Goodyear. Must have been an oil company involved in the demise of urban/pubic transit.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, that was quick!!

  • kesmarn : D, Arizona is starting to scare me more and more….

  • PatsyT : Yes Kes, «link»

  • dildenusa : here in Arizona the mafia uses abandoned mines as ….. well thats where the bodies are

  • kesmarn : I guess after a while it just gets to be one big, poisonous mess of toxic air, water and land. Nowhere to run to, baby…

  • Blues Tiger : To be honest we have no clue what has been placed in the ground in old abondaoned wells

  • Blues Tiger : growing up and living in an Oil and Gas State, Adlibs article was sorta old news…

  • bitohistory : k’es, they also go through tons of fresh water

  • PatsyT : Kes there is no win in the dirty energy path at all – Time to face the music

  • kesmarn : Patsy, it says in the Tar Sands article that they go through huge amounts of natural gas to get the oil out. And then we read AdLib’s article about the horrors of blasting for natural gas. What a cycle!

  • Blues Tiger : The Tar Sands are just one of many strip mining disasters in Canada

  • PatsyT : Dilden I don’t get the hunting thing at all. The Piggly Wiggly is just down the street and I don’t have to skin anything also they sell beer!

  • bitohistory : Good point D, Think it might just be “those Feds”? Send you money to the Sauds. not DC

  • Khirad : No, it was my first time east of the Mississippi. And yes, I absolutely loved the area’s diversity. It, too me, was the “real” America. What America is all about.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, that Tar Sands photo is kind of breath-taking — and not in a good way. What an awful thing to do to the land!

  • PatsyT : That is a stellar statement BT !

  • dildenusa : I find it so hypocritical about hard right hunters wanting to save wildlife while they really could care less whether the price of oil is $10 or $100

  • Blues Tiger : The diversity you showed is what makes this country great

  • PatsyT : Khirad Have you been to the area before ?

  • Blues Tiger : I just wondering, it was a festival afterall

  • Khirad : I have no clue, but it was probably some spring tradition, I guess.

  • bitohistory : Are you sure those pics weren’t Cypress Gardens, FL.?

  • PatsyT : OK this link is quick Tar Sands «link»

  • Khirad : They’d get the vapors.

  • dildenusa : bito, it’s so bizarre. they are giving Obama a rough time about green energy. it seems all these republicans want to send their money to saudi instead of keeping it here

  • kesmarn : All the Belles would get dizzy if they whirled. But how would we know the difference?

  • Blues Tiger : Ok, why where they even there?

  • Khirad : I just thought that they should whirl in those skirts and take the dervish out of the mix.

  • kesmarn : Questinia thought that whirling “Derwishes” with their big skirts would be a nice complement to the Belles.

  • Khirad : Had I known they’d be so popular I’d have posted my other photos of them!

  • bitohistory : Dilden, you got me watching PBS.

  • Blues Tiger : It’s like this site has a hoop skirt fetish

  • Blues Tiger : Ok what is up with the all the fascination with Khirads Southern Belles?

  • Blues Tiger : Helloooo PT ,hellooooo Kes !!!

  • kesmarn :

  • kesmarn : Hey, BT. Better late than never??

  • kesmarn : b’ito, it is tragic. I feel guilty (news?). Next car needs to be a Smart Car or something like…

  • PatsyT : Helloooooo Tiger

  • Blues Tiger : any good agnostic worth their salt knows betty

  • Khirad : All those other religions are rubbish!

  • PatsyT : About the Oil Sands also know as the Tar Sands of Alberta to many vids to choose from «link»

  • Blues Tiger : betty Bowers is a better christian than you!!! Helloooooooo everyone

  • bitohistory : k’es, and most of that oil from the Sands is going to the US. Destoy the gulf, Alberta, Alasks and now North Dakota and the oil shale.

  • dildenusa : there is a report on pbs right now about Wyoming building wind turbines and the hard core environmentalist s and hunters are against it.

  • kesmarn : We’re seeing more and more wind turbines here, D. And Ohio is hardly noted for being gusty. In spite of the number of windbags running for office.

  • Khirad : This is kinda mean, but I had to look her up. I thought she was a drag queen at first. She’s super funny either way, and it was probably the dramatic makeup.

  • kesmarn : Her or Elizabeth Warren,Patsy!

  • dildenusa : There is talk all over the western US about building wind turbines.

  • PatsyT : I am loving that Betty gal ! Can we have her for Pres?

  • Khirad : The Saudis are closer to being out of oil than they admit. Of course they are working on it. Think of it, if they got it right, they could supply the world with energy yet!

  • kesmarn : Patsy, I gather they have really seriously damaged the environment…fo r less than huge amounts of oil. So sad.

  • PatsyT : Kes, The Oil Sands in Canada are a tragedy

  • Khirad : That Betty Bowers vid was awesome. The Dems just need to run vids this September to October of a compilation of ‘Drill baby drills’.

  • dildenusa : Bito, I think the saudi’s and the Iranians are also trying to push wind and solar to compete with us

  • PatsyT : Bito Good Point You would think that would make a difference

  • kesmarn : The R’s always answer that the way to reduce our dependence on foreign oil is to drill, baby, drill domestically: offshore, in Alaska, in every wilderness area they can get their oily hands on.

  • Khirad : There’s actually been some interesting things happening in the region due to the sanctions, dilden. Yes, Patsy I thought that too. But, you have to admit it was mostly for rhetorical effect. I don’t blame them for it or disagree with it (Iran is having windfall profits – with little to show under the poor economic stewardship of AN), I just saw it for what it was.

  • bitohistory : D, I heard that report on India, they can be hard to figure out. IMHO

  • PatsyT : Khirad I see your point but I can also see how if we lead on green energy, other parts of the world would be buying technology from us and less oil from Iran

  • bitohistory : One way to get the R’s concerned may be to bring up the military report that it is a national priority. As impotatant as nukes.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, I’ve seen that ad. Great point made there.

  • dildenusa : Khirad, there was a report on npr today about India buying Iranian oil

  • Khirad : The only thing that’s a little misleading is how much Iran gets, even though we don’t buy Iranian petroleum (at least not directly) anyway. It’s a stellar ad, but I couldn’t help but notice that.

  • dildenusa : Arizona still has large areas of open range. the north rim of the grand canyon has a population density under 5 per square mile

  • kesmarn : There was just today a story in our local paper about a visit from a Sultan Jaber (United Arab Emirates) who is a chemical engineer visiting our area to study green energy. Said: “We know we’re going to run out of oil some day.”

  • Khirad : Yup, it’s the Teddy Roosevelt principle. And yes, go Gabby!

  • PatsyT : I love this campaign Who can deny the vets??? Do they play this on Flox? «link»

  • dildenusa : well in Arizona there’s been loss of wildlife habitat because of the development so now the hunters are afraid that wildlife populations will fall

  • PatsyT : Dilden – Whats not to love about the American Green Energy – Sorry Hunters you have other choices – our other choice has made the middle east rich beyond imagination

  • bitohistory : I have to give our rep Gabby Giffords credit on the solar bill. That was her baby.

  • kesmarn : Khirad, I wonder if there is starting to be a leeeetle bit of a shift in the MSM. ABC nat’l news tonight went after Mr There’s-No-Clim ate-Change Imhoff (I think it was…Lord, I’m blonde today) and asked him what he thought of the 101 F weather. He babbled incoherently.

  • dildenusa : well the governor is behind the solar and the republican controlled legislature wants it

  • PatsyT : Thanks Khirad I am SO watching that later !!

  • kesmarn : dildenusa, that’s ironic: offending the gun-toters in favor of green energy. Who’d a thunk?

  • Khirad : They are TEARING into him, his history, his character, and not taking his bullshit. It’s amazing, like a little bit of MSNBC on CNN.

  • PatsyT : Alvin Green Video «link»

  • dildenusa : Vegas, California, Mexico, you name it they want to sell it

  • Khirad : Like the new saw goes: could Greene be worse than DeMinted?

  • kesmarn : Khirad, what’s Cooper’s take on Breitbart?

  • PatsyT : Thank you Anderson Cooper !!! We need more of that !

  • bitohistory : Dildenusa , are they planning on selling the power to Las Vegas?

  • dildenusa : In fact they have angered a lot of the hunters because they are building wind and solar on multi use BLM land

  • kesmarn : Patsy, I haven’t seen the Green ad. I totally don’t know what to make of him. But I’d like to see deMint out!

  • Khirad : Yes, I saw the Greene rap vid yesterday. It was hilarious. By the way, Anderson Cooper is totally tearing into Breitbart.

  • bitohistory : Khirad, seen any polls on Gabby? Or are the concentrating on the R’s and who can be the biggest winger?

  • dildenusa : Here in northern Arizona they want to build wind and solar plants and the republicans are all behind it.

  • kesmarn : Hey dildenusa! Good to see you!

  • PatsyT : Hi Dilden, Hope the dinner was wonderful

  • kesmarn : b’ito, I quickly skimmed that Breitbart article. That is totally infuriating. He is awful.

  • dildenusa : Hi! Sorry I’m missed everybody I was making my dinner.

  • PatsyT : Alvin Green has a rap ad anyone seen it?

  • Khirad : What I really hope for is some miracle, like Orange County or Alvin Greene. God, they would just explode! It would be beautiful.

  • kesmarn : Hey, Q! We had the big T-storms, too. All quiet now.

  • bitohistory : back to the first topic (sorry) but this is the link to the new Britefart lies «link»

  • PatsyT : Hi Questinia You stay out of harms way !

  • kesmarn : And — okay, this is mean and superficial — why are so many Repub women candidate’s eyes crossed? Bachmann, Angle and Palin (to name only 3) all have this quality.

  • Questinia : GYNORMOUS Thunderstorm! Wheee!!!!

  • PatsyT : Khirad I think you are right on the bluedogs but there may be surprises My guy here in Ca 44th is doing well really well ! «link»

  • Khirad : Of all the stuff she’s said: no jobs, rapeorade, second amendment solutions should they lose. WTF kind of even a generic Republican can vote for that?

  • kesmarn : Yes, b’ito. McCain was for campaign finance reform, too, as I recall…

  • kesmarn : She knows if she opens her mouth, she’s toast. But — hey — how long can you use the sprinting strategy and expect people not to notice? Did she not think of this before she ran? (literally)

  • bitohistory : That was a round-table question at NetRoots today. The R’s/ McCain was for it when he was running for Pres. It is now the party of NO.

  • PatsyT : Kes, on Sharon Angle – mann o man I can not believe how they try to spin that trash. Since when do you call a press conference and not answer questions ?

  • Khirad : Exactly, if that holds or people’s ennui comes to its senses, they will not take the house. Rather, some Blue Dog seats will go back to the GOP.

  • kesmarn : This is one area where the RW has done a real brainwashing job. They have convinced people (around these ignorant parts, anyway) that their electric supply will be “regulated” by some outside entity that will decide whether they can use their dryer and at what temp their thermostat will be set. Madness.

  • bitohistory : Gallup poll this week, generic D’s vs R’s : 49%–42%. Taking over the house? Nah

  • PatsyT : LAST TOPIC …. HOW CAN THE REPUBLICIANS CONTINUE TO BLOCK GREEN ENERGY WITH THE GROWING DEBT TO CHINA, DON’T THEY WANT TO GET AHEAD? HOW ELSE CAN THIS BE SOLD TO AMERICANS?

  • kesmarn : Did y’all see Sharron Angle running full tilt from the media as they were trying to question her? She must have been on the track team in high school. Even in heels she outran ’em.

  • kesmarn : On the fall elections again, it’s looking pretty good for Ted Strickland to get re-elected as Gov of Ohio. He’s a decent guy.

  • PatsyT : Born again Birthers ?

  • kesmarn : I don’t know where she heard that. Or maybe she made it up. Funny!

  • PatsyT : His dude ? Too Funny !

  • bitohistory : need a score card, guess some birthers are now denying that they are.

  • kesmarn : As my fave 4th grader says: Ouch. He got hit right in his Dude.

  • PatsyT : Khirad LOLOL on the link !

  • PatsyT : Survivior Somalia !

  • bitohistory : Patsy, I always thought Somalia would be nice for them. They can get their own little army

  • Khirad : Patsy, I was thinking more like this «link»

  • kesmarn : Thanks for reminding me, b’ito. I had read up on ’em a while ago and had forgotten. Between birthers and tenthers, and tea-baggers, it’s hard to keep the players straight.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, love the link. That’s about the only kind of crucsing power they’d understand. Certainly not the cerebral variety.

  • PatsyT : Can we have a new reality show where they have to go to Haiti or Yeman with nothing and see how they like the “small Government” ?

  • kesmarn : They’re all states rights until they need bigtime help. When the tornado roared through here and tore everything up 6 weeks ago, we had a bunch of born-again big government people.

  • bitohistory : Tenters are states rights people. “Integrated lunch counters are not in the Constitution. states rights not federal law

  • PatsyT : Khirad, How about this for full crushing power «link»

  • Khirad : They are states rights people. But, what gets me is that Senate candidate somewhere for abolishing direct elections of senators. I mean, where does that even come from? Isn’t that a little, undemocratic?

  • kesmarn : Patsy, Daddy died and left it to him (the $$), so I guess he can waste it as he pleases. Not too much to campaign on there…sigh.

  • bitohistory : Quick with that quote Khirad!!! lol wow

  • kesmarn : Oh boy, remind me again on the tenthers. I lose track (and I must be tired).

  • bitohistory : k’es , he’s a tenther

  • PatsyT : Kes, How about going after him on ‘daddy money’

  • Khirad : “I hope that the American people will go to the ballot box in 2010 and 2012 so that states are not forced to consider separation from this government” – seriously, with all this crap the past year, Dems just need to have soundbyte after soundbyte of the crazy shite they’ve been saying. This isn’t the usual GOP. This is the ultracrazy fringe. They need to be crushed.

  • kesmarn : I missed the guy from TN on secession. What’s his beef?

  • bitohistory : “dont make us leave –vote GOP”

  • kesmarn : Right, Patsy, and they’re going after her now on earmarks. Of course, if she hadn’t brought any $ or jobs to the district, they’d go after her on that.

  • bitohistory : Do

  • Khirad : Thanks Bito, that was bugging me.

  • PatsyT : Kes you have Marcy ?

  • bitohistory : Khirad, Wamp from Tenn

  • PatsyT : Bachman is going on and on a bout subpoena power – Wow I guess the majority rule means nothing

  • bitohistory : Rep Spaks had a new PO scored by the CBO Saving $68 Billion

  • kesmarn : You’re not thinking of Perry in TX, are you?

  • kesmarn : The guy who’s running against my congresswoman is a T-party nutter, who’s financing his own campaign (Daddy’s money). But he’s running as a Repub. If he gets in, we’re screwed.

  • Khirad : A little OT for a second, cause it’s bugging me. Who was the newest guy that talked about secession?

  • PatsyT : I heard about that too Khirad, do have any other info on that?

  • bitohistory : Oh the Dems will lose seats, but I don’t think they will lose leadership. The party in power has always lost seats since ’45 (?)

  • kesmarn : I have to say that my congresswoman is facing possibly the most serious challenge she’s faced to date. But I still have the feeling she’ll win. Hope I’m reading things right.

  • Khirad : And did I hear something about the PO again?

  • Khirad : There is no way Dems won’t lose seats. Republicans were so down last two cycles that we picked up some seats we didn’t have the place in winning, really (but we’ll still complain about Blue Dogs anyway). It does not mean a ’94 though. And, the newest poll showed that people still hate the Republicans more than Democrats. And, Harry Reid is pulling ahead. I hope that by the time midterms approach, people will stop bitching and actually consider the alternative of “NO”.

  • PatsyT : So true bito, You can build on this health care reform you can’t build on nothing Same with Fin Reg Reform and on and on

  • bitohistory : I hate to say it again to the people that expect perfection: Progress is Progressive

  • PatsyT : MSM LOVES TO RATTLE ON AND ON ABOUT HOW THE MAJORITY PARTY ALWAYS LOSES SEATS IN THE MID TERMS BUT IS THAT REALLY GOING TO BE THE CASE? RACHEL MADDOW SPOKE OF THIS THIS WEEK. CAN THIS REALLY BE SO AUTOMATIC? WHAT ELSE CAN THE DEMS DO TO RETAIN THE LEAD?

  • bitohistory : I would have loved to seen nellie’s take on the Britebarf thing.

  • Khirad : I’m really getting sick of it. If I defend it, I’m settling. They would rather us give it back to the wolves. If they don’t get everything, they feel betrayed. How about this? Get motivated to vote in more liberal Dems to help push what you really want through? I’m fed up with crybaby idiots. I really am.

  • kesmarn : Go for it, Patsy! I have to duck out just for a moment…

  • PatsyT : Well how about our next topic??

  • kesmarn : I’ll say it again…I miss nellie and Cher!!!

  • bitohistory : we need nelly and her weekly Obama good things collection

  • kesmarn : It’s almost as though, if it isn’t perfect — if Blankfein doesn’t go to prison or we don’t get the public option — it’s worthless. We have come a long way!

  • Khirad : On Financial Reform, that is.

  • Khirad : It’s amazing how hardly anything was made on that. Rachel also totally nailed it on apathy. I feel sorry for Obama, passed more than FDR and yet all he gets is flack. Criticism is okay, but this is self-defeatism. SNAP OUT OF IT LIBS! Remember what ’94 was like?

  • bitohistory : Center=fold in the Nation

  • PatsyT : Sarah Palin look out !

  • kesmarn : There may even be an article about her in Playboy.

  • PatsyT : Kes, Thats OK They like her brains best I am all for that!

  • kesmarn : :lol

  • kesmarn : Patsy, they’re starting to drool… Whaddya think?

  • bitohistory : She is on Rachel a lot. I read her articles alot in the nation, thought she was some old woman prof. LOL

  • kesmarn : Of course, the passage of financial reform got lost in the flurry of Sherrod stories. This always happens…

  • Khirad : I forget if Melissa was on Keith or Rachel today…

  • kesmarn : Yes, Khirad, if the WH and Vilsack had held their fire, they could have really smashed these haters with the full tape. Would have been a sight to behold.

  • PatsyT : Where so you catch Melissa ?

  • Khirad : Exactly Bito!

  • bitohistory : I think we talked about Melissa last time Khirad, Cute as button, smart as a whip!!

  • kesmarn : If we lived in the kind of world they seem to be aiming for, no human would ever believe anything that any other person said — ever. What kind of environment for discourse is it when you have to research every single thing from scratch? Basic truth-seeking ought to be a journalistic “given.”

  • PatsyT : bito I know what you mean about C Todd Way too relaxed – Should this stuff bother him?

  • Khirad : True, CNN did do its job on this, so in that regard, it wasn’t all on them. The funny thing is, that I almost wish that the USDA and White House had held off, and let this story grow into one of those Crusades, before they pulled the full video out. I would have loved to see more people with eggs on their faces and a full parade of mea culpas.

  • PatsyT : Khirad I feel like they don’t care anymore at all if things prove out to be credible or not- The goal is to enrage the white vote – southern strategy style –

  • Khirad : It’s totally weak to say that the media had no part in this. By the way, did any one catch Melissa Harris-Lacewell? She was spot-on, as always.

  • kesmarn : I didn’t see the Todd segment, b’ito. The only thing I’ll give the media credit for on this one is finding the farmer she helped and giving him and his wife the chance to clear her name.

  • kesmarn : Isn’t it amazing, Khirad, the way they will defend even criminals rather than appear to break ranks? Very twisted, dysfunctional sense of “loyalty.” What about loyalty to the truth, for God’s sake!

  • bitohistory : Chuck Todd wasn’t able to think that it could possibly be in any way the media’s fault. But then he has done some poorly/thinly sourced stories. I have problems with him. Does he want to be a reporter or ….

  • kesmarn : Right, Patsy. The MSM makes the story about the NAACP or the administration REACTION to the situation. The STORY is that FOX and Breitbarf are cockroaches and they need the NAME that and OWN that.

  • Khirad : What I hated today was that everyone on the tright was piling onto Obama and Vilsack. I would say fine. Then I would say they’ve apologized but Breitbart hadn’t, and he destroyed a woman. And, if he was going after the NAACP, which wasn’t the original story he posted, then he destroyed her as a tool. It actually makes it worse. Long story short, I drove the trolls away when I asked them to call him out. Not one of them would accede to that small concession. Not one. And I tried three times.

  • PatsyT : Oh cathodist… Is that new?

  • PatsyT : Can’t our news media just shine a light on this for what it is? They keep tippy toing around this.

  • kesmarn : Right, Khirad. In the Methodist church I attend (as a cathodist) the preacher is Black. And when he says: “You wouldn’t believe some of the stuff I used to do…” the congregation cheers him on, because they know what comes next.

  • PatsyT : Kes, I know my sister is a nurse -I have stories !! Some day we have to share I am glad I am the one that tells the stories and wasn’t there

  • kesmarn : So many orifices, so little time to clean. OOPS! TMI

  • Khirad : Someone compared the crowd reactions to that of a Black church, the cadence. And, in context, they cheer the loudest at the end. In fact, in the tape they rolled today with Chuck T at the helm, I couldn’t even hear the response anymore.

  • kesmarn : Oh, Patsy, if you only knew….

  • PatsyT : Kes I hope you don’t run into that at work!

  • kesmarn : He and Limbaugh, like cornered rats, only get meaner when their enemies close in.

  • PatsyT : I love Brightfart ! LOL Khirad !

  • kesmarn : “Buttbarf,” my personal favorite.

  • Khirad : Rather than apologize, Breitfart keeps digging deeper justifying this. His ego will be his own ultimate undoing.

  • PatsyT : He has alias Brightbarf Brightbut Butbarf …

  • kesmarn : Hey, Khirad! Yes, I think FOX will move on, but Breitbart will never be credible again, except with the KKK.

  • PatsyT : Hi Khirad !

  • kesmarn : Yes, b’ito, it kinda stings to admit it, but that’s the long and short of it.

  • Khirad : The silver lining to this is that to “Breitbart” someone will be a verb now. When RW bloggers or FOX tries another hit job, we can just they they are trying to Breitbart them. They may have undermined themselves, here.

  • PatsyT : bito I heard that – Do you think it was planed out like that?

  • kesmarn : Patsy, I hope she sues, too. And wins.

  • bitohistory : The NAACP and the admin. got played!! Big time.

  • kesmarn : b’ito, I listened to the crowd reaction and I heard it more as a sort of groan of recognition of how she felt. A sort of “Oh yeah, I’ve been THERE” reaction. Very honest.

  • kesmarn : One thing regrettable about this whole affair is that it made the White House and the Dept of Agriculture look a bit gullible…like Breitbart had “played” them. I don’t think they’ll fall for that again.

  • PatsyT : I hope she sues the daylights out flox and brightbut and then writes a book

  • bitohistory : He is now saying that when Ms.S said she didn’t help the white farmer that the crowd cheered. If one bothers to listen to it they know it is a blatent lie.

  • kesmarn : One thing that occurred to me was that Sherrod was really fortunate that the couple she helped lived into their 80’s in their right minds, so they could “refudiate” this nonsense. Otherwise it would only have been her word.

  • PatsyT : What happened to American Dream of doing well in school, learning new things, discovering the world? These RW’ers seem to want to bury themselves in stupidy and then celebrate it – Gotta celebrate it!

  • bitohistory : Maybe we can hope that the media will be more skeptical. Hire some editors and producers

  • kesmarn : Tell all, b’ito! What did he say? I know, earlier he was insisting that CNN didn’t bother to verify whether the “farmer’s wife was really the farmer’s wife.” (Meaning the couple Sherrod helped out.) Is that weird or what?

  • PatsyT : Hi Bito !

  • PatsyT : It makes you wonder how they did in school1

  • bitohistory : Hello,Britebarf was on Hannity again spreading new lies

  • kesmarn : You know, b’ito and I were talking about this online today. I surely hope so. But choicelady posted a study that indicated that — for fringe loony groups — the more scientific evidence you give ’em that contradicts their cause, the more firmly they cling to it.

  • PatsyT : WITH BREITBART AND FOX EXPOSING THEMSELVES AS PURVEYORS OF FRAUDULENT PROPAGANDA THIS WEEK, WILL THE OUTRAGEOUS AND DISHONEST SLURS FROM THE RIGHT BECOME LESS EFFECTIVE AND BE MET MORE WITH SKEPTICISM THAN ACCEPTANCE?

  • kesmarn : Fire away.

  • PatsyT : Well here is Topic # 1

  • kesmarn : Whenever you’re ready, Patsy. Pleeeeease join us, friends!!

  • PatsyT : Hey we can start a topic any time you want kes

  • kesmarn : There’s a bizarre melding of religious fundamentalism/e motional faux-patriotism/ pro-corporatism/ racism/gun obsession. The whole package freaks me out.

  • PatsyT : Since when did this corporama mentality become so persuasive ?

  • kesmarn : Yup. And then when you cross the Texas border it becomes St. Glen of the Beck and Dallas will be renamed Limbaughville.

  • PatsyT : Oh yes I love the pics Khirad posted

  • PatsyT : I can see it now … in the school books (except Texas) Glen Beck a fraud Fox a propaganda machine on and on

  • kesmarn : On a happier note, Khirad posted some wonderful DC pics, didn’t he?

  • kesmarn : I think this era will be viewed a lot like the McCarthy era was…paranoia reigning. But the country snapped out of it then. Now? …I dunno.

  • PatsyT : I think we may have to give up on figureing them out … Think of what the history books will say?

  • kesmarn : I spend so much time trying to figure them out (why?), but I simply don’t get it. Some of them can be superficially charming, but they vote for systematic cruelty. Confusing.

  • PatsyT : Oh goody … What motivates these people? How can they be so hard?

  • kesmarn : When you get a chance later, you can view his tantrum on AdLib’s Netroots Nation Blog. I posted it. He outdid himself.

  • PatsyT : I will have to catch the wonders of rush later but I can only imagine. Wow will he have his own suite in H*ll?

  • kesmarn : Holy Moses, we have 5 guests online. I knew I should have made more potato(e) salad.

  • PatsyT : Hey I used to like Bobs Big Boy!

  • kesmarn : I’m all for that! Did you see Rush’s rant about the “Nutroots Nation”? OOOhhh. I think they hit a nerve with that BigBoy.

  • PatsyT : I think we should start a Green Tea Party you know all green candidates no oily ones.

  • kesmarn : I do love a good thunderstorm. They’re not scary to me; they’re kinda exhilirating. (sp?)

  • PatsyT : Watchout they may mistake you for one of them!

  • PatsyT : Oh Boy do I ever remember those storms! They roll in with that blast of cool air and crack with the lightening and boom with the thunder. Out here in So Cal we have very little of that.

  • kesmarn : I got so irked with the hot sunlight that was poring through the curtains in the living room that I actually put aluminum foil on the window. Heehee. I look like a T-Party people trying to bring in signals.

  • kesmarn : Patsy, no…the heat index was up to 106 F today, but we’re having thunderstorms now, so it’s cooling down. If I disappear, you’ll know God finally had enough and struck me with lightning.

  • PatsyT : It’s casual Friday

  • kesmarn : Hey, where did everybody go? I’m starting to get a complex.

  • PatsyT : Yes a week! Has Ohio cooled off ?

  • PatsyT : HI KES,

  • kesmarn : Hey, Patsy! Is it possible that it’s been a week?

  • PatsyT : If you hear extra pops it is because you may have a extra window open

  • PatsyT : Say Hi when you arrive

  • PatsyT : Hi everybody! How are things around the country?

  • bitohistory : Have a good time AdLib, learn and teach!

  • AdLib : Hi all!
