Thanks Escribacat,

Your Rashomon series should be nominated for an award too. It’s brilliant.

Escribacat, I find myself looking forward to each new Rashomon post of yours! This is a fantastic feature, it makes a strong statement so simply. Genius, escribacat!

I must admit, I look at each edition as a competition between Drudge and HuffPo for the most inane or yellow jounalism loke headline.

Have to give this one to Drudge this time but HuffPo’s hysteria gives it a strong second place.

I agree this feature is excellent and the juxtaposition of these headlines shows that the right and reactionary left don’t care about the truth only the spin to advance their memes.

HP’s headline “U.S Keeps Chasing Al Qaeda In Afghanistan While Latest Action Moves Through Nigeria, Yemen, London, Amsterdam” is disingenuous.

Afghanistan is more about subduing the Taliban than it is about chasing Al Qaeda. The President does not want the Taliban turning Afghanistan…or any large Middle East country, for that matter…into an Islamic State, which is the Taliban’s intention.

Indeed, the Main at HP right now has Adam Rose, the author of the article, saying this: “”An additional 30,000 troops are scheduled to be deployed to Afghanistan, where some estimates peg the total number of Al Qaeda as low as 100.” This is so disingenuous he ought to be punished for writing it. He is throwng the 30000 number (of troops) up against the far lower number, 100, of Al Qaeda, to try and paint a picture of overkill on the part of the President. In other words, 30000 to go after 100.

And again, totally ignoring the Taliban as if it is no problem at all.

I hate dishonest writing and HP is becoming far too proficient at it.

“becoming”?

HP has been a yellow journalism swamp from day one.

You are so right Abby. HP has become just a mirror image of the Drudge Report.

KQ: just saw your reply about Drudge. (Left you one about 18 hours ago (before I crashed) saying I hope you bust out of that hospital soon, and for good.)

Where did Drudge come from, anyway, and how long has he been doing…what he does?

I first heard about The Drudge Report from this right winger I worked with after the 2000 election. Matt Drudge is a right winger blogger that started his site to complain about Clinton and Dems from what I understand.

I hope to get out of hospital by New Years Eve according to my cardiologist. I was pretty lucky this time because I got a private room with a couch so my wife can stay overnight. It seems I gained a bunch of water weight which is a symptom of my condition. In 24 hours I lost 10 lbs of water weight with the diuretics they gave me.

I am hoping you will be out by New Year’s Eve. I recall many posts of yours about what you have gone through and not in any of them did you seem to be complaining, but only keeping us informed.

Bravo.

Another great set of headlines, e’cat. We get a varied view of the event from this group of news outlets. As usual, the most heavily editorialized headlines are from the same sources: Fox, Drudge, Politico, and HP. And, sad to say, Fox is the most objective of the four.
