WOW!!!
The Planet has doubled in posts and comments in one month!
Over 400 posts and 20,000 comments!
Now, let us congratulate the ones whose honor it was to be the ones to make these landmarks in our community.
The 400th post was made by…
…PepeLePew! With the post, A corny, hokey and unashamably bleeding heart liberal good time ! Congratulations Pepe! Your lifetime supply of Turtle Wax is on the way!
Next, the member who made our 20,000th post was…
…kesmarn!!! With the comment, “j’avaz, my German mom used to call the “running around on acid” cat behavior “chasing demons.” I guess that was the old country interpretation of the manic scampering” on the post, “Pet Diaries“.
Congratulations kesmarn! Enjoy the lifetime supply of VO5 Shampoo!
Though we are celebrating quantity in this article, what is most incredible is the quality of these over 400 posts and 20,000 comments. Speaking for the other founders, it is humbling to see the breadth of intelligence, reason, heart and wit that is reflected in posts and comments here day after day.
All of this coincides with yesterday being The Planet’s busiest and most visited day since we launched. A little background, The Planet is visited by thousands of people in 55 countries around the world.
What you are writing and sharing here does matter and does interest many people around the world. Thank you all for bringing us so far in such a short amount of time, you should all take a bow!
However, if you need to wax your car or are low on shampoo, I’d buddy up with Pepe and kesmarn if I was you.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!

I wish all of you a Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. Enjoy your meals and remember those who no longer may be with us at the table. If they are remembered, they live on.
And AdLIb, a special thanks to you for the new car. It’s a beaut, but they forgot the ribbon.
from “the whispers of the hummingbird fairies” to you all.

Did you read that KQ was released from the hospital today or that Emerald’s sister awoke from her coma, and there’s hope for her?
Plus, my husband joined the site and wrote a note, because AdLib said he needed 10 more members to make 200?
Hope you are feeling better, and am so glad to see you this night, the best night of the year!!!
Oh, let me try this, and forgive me for not getting it right, but I’ll write this sounding it out -
Ka-nee-chee-wah!
Doesn’t that mean, forgive the spelling, but doesn’t that mean How you doing?

I just wanted to wish all my fellow Progressives a Merry Christmas, Mele Kalikimaka, Feliz Navidad, and Joyeux Noel.
Have a safe and happy time with friends and loved ones, and drive safely, the cops will be out looking for DUIs.
For those of you who are alone, be aware that my thoughts are with you, I know the feeling, as I once spent Christmas a long way from home, eating C-rations while on patrol.

Merry Xmas and all holidays to ya!
I once had to spend Xmas at a Red Onion eating a burrito.
I got better.

Well, after getting my fill of c-rations, the good thing that came from that is that Spam was like Kobe beef. LOL.

As I sit here tonight, well, it’s 4:00 in Arizona, and it’s my favorite night of the entire year, but I can see the Superstition Mountains and the Saguaro Cacti, and I am so grateful to be alive.

Living is the hard part of life, and the older we get, the more memories we gain, and some are sad, but most are good.
My father used to always say to roll with it, because there will be more good times than not.
My mom used to say, all politicians are crooks, and really, isn’t that the truth?
Merry Christmas to everyone and to everyone, have a great night!!!
Merry, merry Christmas, javaz!
Not all politicians are crooks though the exceptions may be robots.

Aren’t we lucky?
We have this site that is just taking off, and before it does, because it will, but we have this opportunity to become acquainted.
Well. I for one am very pleased.
Forgive me not actually knowing, but when is the first anniversary?
The numbers that most interest me, more than gross columns and comments, is the scope of the membership and its “compliance”.
(Compliance, actual useful participation. Right now about 15% of the members produce about 95% of the volume, at a guess. If we had ten thousand members and that compliance rate, we would have a very active blog indeed! But if we had 1000 members and a compliance rate of 50%, we would still have an excellent blog.)
So. Good work. Please continue to spread the word.
Report comment
I’m still trying to process the numbers but I have one question.
If a blogger is leaving Chicago on a train going 50 MPH and a roofer can lay 10 sf. of shingles using 300 calories, how long until The Planet dominates the political blog world?
Report comment
Oh AdLib,
I hated those “word” problems. However, to answer your question? It won’t be long sweetie, not long at all.
Report comment
AdLib the answer is simple: feedings are 3 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon

Googled the ‘wii’ and ask, were you making fun of me for asking?
LOL
I’m used to people making fun of me for my lack of knowledge.
I laugh at myself, too, all the time.
DOH!
Not at all! I was just linking the wiki for it so as to answer your question.
I would never make fun of you. The only people I make fun of are wingers.

I feel very cool saying girlfriend.
It makes me feel hip.
Sheesh.
Is saying hip retro?
LMAO
We’re listening to Christmas music in French, from Cds we bought in France, and I feel so continental!
A very cultural Christmas!

‘kay everyone,
Going to have dinner with my dear, the sister I never had, friend because my family thinks I’m three fries short of a Happy Meal and have made their choices for today and tomorrow. Amazing how they conveniently forget what one goes through to bring them into this world — and by G (sorry God – OT) it wasn’t their father.

Hey guys, I have been popping in and out today as I cooked. It’s thankfully almost all done and the kids should be here anytime now. I am late responding to some of your kind comments, but please know how much I appreciate your caring and good wishes. It has meant the world to me today!
I can’t wait for Sherri to get better and get out of the hospital! (I’m trying to remain optimistic!) I am going to tell her about each and every one of you and the prayers you all have sent. She will be amazed to hear that well wishes were coming from so many places across the globe.
I must log off and finish up in the kitchen, light the candles, and keep my doggies from eating all the Christmas bows on the presents! I just wanted to wish everyone here the warmest and best of holidays! You all comprise a very special group of some of the best people in the world…and I feel so fortunate to be among you!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! And if you’re gonna’ eat at my house, you had better get a “move on”! And save room for pumpkin pie!
Love to you all,

Thanks for coming up for air — above the radar — letting us know you’re around. Peace!

dgraz, A long awaited debut for you, sir. a large welcome!!!

I wrote this on your wonderful Christmas memory thread, but AdLib said he needs 10 more for 200 members, so I asked my husband to join.
Report comment
I also asked him to read the Festivus thread by Marion, since imho, that is a great article and I can’t imagine the time or effort she spent on that.
Besides, it took at least 20 minutes to download on our dial-up, so after he read that, he said okay, he’d join and maybe write something someday.
He writes letters to the editor of our 2 local AJ papers – so, maybe he’ll write something here someday and reach many more people!
Woo-Hoo!
I would like to add this about my husband joining.
He has 2 very close and long time friends that do blog, and maybe now, if dgraz authors something, and I know he will, maybe his 2 friends will join.
What a debate that will be, but sadly, I’ll have to read it all after the fact, as we have dialup, but we do have 2 computers!
We just have to take turns using them.
Ut oh, something just occurred to me.
Report comment
If he actually finds that he likes blogging, well, this could be troublesome.
We might actually fight over time limits or something!
Well, if javaz is your wife, you’ve got one very, very special lady there! Please do join us! There are some incredible folks here with good ideas and great comments!
Merry Christmas, dgraz!

I’m trying to find this SNL skit I saw years ago where this guy talks about how he chopped down his Christmas tree with sadistic relish and then decorated it. It was something like that, but I’ve yet to see it again.
