Hey, kids.
Just a minute to dash off a few thoughts before going to a screening of Area 9.
Last week’s Friday was good, especially considering the technical glitches that made it look as if there was going to be no blog at all for the day.
We got two evenings left until HuffNo. AdLib likes to schedule it to start 9pm Thursday PST, as that avoids posting Friday morning EST. Me, I am not quite that fastidious. AdLib and I will mud-wrestle to settle the issue next week. But please do invite people tonight and tomorrow night to join us for the party.
Apparently we will be having a debate to observe. That sounds yummy.
All part of the service here at PlanetPOV, the site that entertains, stimulates and amuses. Oh, and listens to your vents, should that seem useful.
What does it mean when a person gets a “featured” comment on HP?
I saw that an Andrea Costillo quip was “featured.” She is being singled out by the geniuses at HP for her brilliant wit. She generates a lot of extra clicks with comments like “I don’t give a cr@p about Afghan women.” That is her level of intelligence.
I must say, I don’t understand why so many people respond to her hate speech. I think I’ve only posted to her comments two or three times to correct some factual error.
Nellie, it’s how she presents herself. The wide thighed and bushy tailed FSU college student with the “quick wit”. She’s irritated me with her ignorance since the first time I’ve read her. I’d rather read AnnFromCA, and she’s cracked too.
So I’ve made a practice of putting her off her game as often as possible.
Ok kids, must start my day at work, will talk with all of you later, have a great day everyone!
You too, BDM!
Good morning everyone!
What debate?
🙂
Morning javaz, if you go to the ‘new planet features’ it explains that there will be a live debate this Friday night. I hope I can stay awake for it, it starts @ 7pm PT, thats 11pm EST…Looks interesting
I just read that, thanks!
It sounds interesting!
I didn’t realize there was such a time difference.
I can never keep track of the time changes, especially since Arizona doesn’t do daylight savings time.
Now, I’m going to have to look up to see if PT is an hour ahead or behind AZ!
BDM: That’s 10 pm EST, not 11. Hey, you aren’t confused, how do you think us Arizonans feel when we go from a 3 hour time difference for the east coast to a two hour time difference, and simultaneously a 0 hour time difference for the west coast to a 1 hour time difference! Such is the joy of relating to a country that switches to and from Daylight Savings and living in a state that doesn’t use Daylight Savings. But there is logical reasons for it.
Morning guys, that is confusing…as you can see I have trouble telling time, 10 pm is still late for me!
But I’m going to try to stay up, may take a nap in the afternoon or drink a lot of coffee.
Hello Javaz. Good to see you here.
Good morning, Monk!
I like that AZ doesn’t do daylight saving time, even though it is confusing.
I understand for the guys out there working in the heat why we don’t, but I remember living in the high plains and enjoying the difference, especially the amount of light still out there at 9 PM in the evening during the summer. There are things I do miss about home (funny, I do regard AZ as home, but I guess you always think of where you grew up as home, too.)
There is good and bad with Daylight Savings, good, it’s light in the mornings here, bad, dark early, the sun goes down at 5pm.
My husband and I are very sensitive to this, we have a tendency to hole up for the winter. Someone suggested we get light boxes, but I just can’t see the ol’grouch using one!
We’re in for a big storm this weekend, it’s hitting the coast of Virginia pretty bad today and will move up the coast and hit the Northeast starting tomorrow afternoon. High tides and winds at 30-50 MPH…the ol’grouch is loving it, more work, as boats always get damaged in storms like these!
California in the winter is the pits for lighting, IMO. It’s dark at 7 AM and dark at 5 PM. I don’t miss that part of living on the edge of a time zone.
That must suck, lord my husband and I would be sleeping 14 hrs a day out there!
Yes, BDM, and since they don’t have all the really big storms you guys get the boats are safer, too. I used to live in Costa Mesa, right next door to Newport Beach. Never saw the repair people very busy. Of course, they’re Cali’s, so maybe they were just laid back.
I should show you some of the pictures from the storms that we have had in the past…50′ sailboats thrown up on shear cliffs, 25′ above the water. Crazy, the power of the sea, got to love it and respect it. Wouldn’t live anywhere else, well maybe a nice little house on the coast of Maine or the coast Cap Cod!
BDM. My idea of a beautiful ocean is a primo tube at Pipeline or a soft, sheltered cove with plenty of palm trees and a sandy, warm beach.
Well I guess I’m a Yankee, thru and thru, you should see the sky today, silver with dark streaks…winds at 10 knots out of southeast, water is black with some white caps…nothing like a New England winter by the water!
HP seems to be intent on driving people elsewhere. Have noticed today their even more ugly advertisements and other items covering up more of the page with trash. Next we’ll be seeing an on-line sales site, “Arianna’s List”. Also didn’t see much of anything getting major reader interest. Is that a leak I hear? Sink, baby, sink!
Hiya FM.
Are you speaking to that black stuff popping up on the top? I was just in there and thought maybe it was a problem on my machine. Horrible if HP induced.
Leaks…LOL, indeed. Deluge soon enough I predict. Glad Planet is going dedicated server.
Have some new footwear to share with you tomorrow. Now it’s time for baby to hit the sack.
Tomorrow, my friend.
The answer is yes, all that ugly black stuff overlapping at the top of the screen.
Sleep tight. Well, maybe a little juiced anyway {smile mischeiviously!}
It is stadium seating.
With a jumbotron overhead.
Not to worry.
And I am slippery as an eel when I am slippery as an eel.
If this was a reply to me, I had to look up for a change.
Yes, I hit the wrong reply button.
Well then, I suppose I’ll have to forgive you for my stiff neck.
Dibs on front row seats, one for me and one for my legs, for the mud wrestling please. Second row’s no good, won’t be able to see a bloody thing.
