funny_faces_photosmaller_1Ok, still trying to figure this site out, but I am glad to see many familiar “faces” here.  Looks like there is a growing dissatisfaction with Huff Post and I hope this site is not as restrictive and the trolls will still be over there.  The place was overrun today with PUMAS, led by the vacuous AnnfrCA.

I heard people talking about AC. What do you expect from a person who puts Glenn Beck and Bill Mays on her Facebook page as people that she looks up to?

  2. Dreamers101 says:

Okay I did that FeloniousMonk what now?

  3. Dreamers101 says:

How do you submit your Avatar folks?

  4. Dreamers101 says:

    Hello peeps!

I really do A Lot of Familiar

  5. PepeLepew says:

Hi all. I see all the discussion about specific trolls.
AC is annoying, but I think she’s just some raging narcissist looking to spark a big reaction for attention’s sake. I suspect she doesn’t buy half of her own swill; she’s just some arrogant young person looking for attention. Gringo Lingo is exactly the same way. Pompous prick. He really gets on my nerves.
I think Gringo and AC are the trolls that bug me the most. Oh, and Bluesmann. He never has anything worthwhile to say about any topic. Just trolling for reactions. I don’t mind spirited debate, but none of these people have anything to offer by lame talking points and their own arrogance.
BJ and Coyote actually frighten me because I think they are quite literally insane. They pollute any thread with all kinds of rage and hate any time they log on.

    • KevenSeven says:

      Coyote is a way freak.

She dubbed Hume, JamesR and myself as the leaders at huff.

While I was flattered, I told her she was way off base.

She is an hysteic Israel Firster. So any criticism of Israel gets you on her shit list.

The blazzing irony of it all? There could be no more hot blood enemies during the primaries than James and I.

He was a Flaming Clintonista. I am so over the Clintons that I cannot express it. And I was on staff back in ’92. Got paid and everything.

Jim and I called a truce during the Gaza incursion.

    • FeloniousMonk says:

GringoLingo -- I knew I’d forgotten someone. Yea. But it’s like talking to a rock and being frustrated that the rock doesn’t talk back to you. You know, in all the time I spent there, I got lost trying to really figure out the infamous Beejer and Coyote personas. Wasn’t one of them the ugly plastic baby?

  6. PepeLepew says:

The newest, most annoying troll at HuffPost is some idiot called “ZenDiagram.” Unlike most of the trolls, who I think just get a kick out of getting attention and instigating, I think he actually drinks his own Kool-Aid.
Anyway, I only hang there anymore because I like so many of the nice posters and it can be fun getting trolls’ heads to explode, especially the dumb ones..

    • GreatGrannie says:

Zen has a brain like a windsock…..flapping about in the wind gathering nothing but air….

    • nicole473 says:

OMG, ZenDiagram spent an entire day arguing with me on the Franken rape amendment thread last week. He is unbelievable.

I finally decided that he was a paid poster for an MIC lobby firm, and when I called him on it, he wasn’t all that big on denying it.

That guy has no business using the name “zen”, lol.

      • PepeLepew says:

        What is an MIC?
That guy is a flaming homophobe and misogynist. He spends all day on the social issues threads.

        • FeloniousMonk says:

          Military Industrial Complex = MIC

Isn’t he one of those people who enjoys doing a beatdown on those who are being shown as being in trouble in our society and he wants to just blame them for everything?

          • nicole473 says:

Yeah, he is like that. Definitely a misogynist too.
In the thread I was referring to, he got all in to the legal aspects of the thing, and seemed to have a real dog in the fight. Hence, I began to think that he’s a paid poster.

    • FeloniousMonk says:

      Hey Pepe’.
      How’s it going?

    • escribacat says:

Fancy meeting you here, Pepe! I’m still thinking about getting my dual Canadian citizenship!

  7. MikaS says:

Hello Karate Kid! It is good to see you. It is also nice to see you, FeloniusMonk. I decided to take a break from HP today and it is nice to see so many familiar faces.

    • KQuark says:

Welcome MikaS. Don’t I know you from somewhere? :-)

    • kesmarn says:

Welcome, Mika. This place is like the cool front porch swing after being in the hot kitchen!

      • MikaS says:

Hi kesmarn! That is a nice description of the place. It is nice to get away from the hostility of the HP. I try to stay out of the fray, but lately that is becoming impossible. I have been out of junior high for quite some time and I do not require a daily reminder of the pettiness.

    • FeloniousMonk says:

      Morning Mika.
This is very refreshing here. Hopefully this will become a new home for you too, and out of choice, not required.

      • MikaS says:

I read the site regularly but I have only posted a comment a few times. I rarely post off of HP but lately I find that I am disturbed and perturbed by the place. Today on the front page is an article about Jon Gosselin dating the Octomom for a reality TV show. If it wasn’t for HP, I wouldn’t know who the hell Jon Gosslin is. Of course I have to admit that I was entertained a little reading the Levi story. I am thoroughly enjoying his languorous divulgence. I know! I have no shame. : )

        • escribacat says:

LOL. I feel like I’m an expert on those two, just from reading HP headlines.

        • nicole473 says:

Welcome, Mika! I just learned who Gosselin was recently too, lol.

I can not believe that she would put that on the front page.

          “The Huffington Enquirer”.

          blech.

          • FeloniousMonk says:

OK. I had to go over and look. I feel so ashamed.

Sure it shouldn’t be called Sideshow World? All that’s missing is some publisher jumping into a pit and biting the head of a live chicken.

            And it isn’t even friday!

  8. FeloniousMonk says:

I hope we can all exorcise our demons here quickly and move on to better things. Our health, and the health of our nation and world depend on those who can and do work to make a difference trying to work towards the correct goals. I still believe in a better world, and not in the hereafter, but in this life. But I’ve always been a little on the supposed impractical side, asking why can’t we do this or that or why did it become so complicated over what should be a simple issue, like justice.

  9. KevenSeven says:

    Good to have you here.

Please help us promote HuffNo Friday.

That means telling people, as discretely as possible, that Friday is an embargo of Huff, with lively discussion over here.

AdLib and I have been discussing the idea of structuring the evening. He has a good plan.

  10. Grabamop says:

Weleome KK! I am glad to see more HPers here. AC is so annoying, but I noticed last night no one was taking the bait. Middleofthemiddle just does not give up. I hope this remains to be a troll free zone. And we can even type troll without hiding it! The first admendment is alive and well here.

  11. FeloniousMonk says:

This is going to be the only time (hopefully) I ever mention names of those I am going to try to promptly forget as I move away from the HP addiction. I will also say, for the first and only time, what other profiles I used, all but one of which were removed by myself after HP finally got the remove this profile button working this month.

A year ago, I started out as HonorJusticeTruth, and this is where I wanted to go in this brave new world, only to start discovering the world of trolls and a certain amount of catiness. Now after my initial discovery of HP frustration, I used ArrianasStudMuffin for about three entries, which, of course, they pulled. Incidentally, I admitted this recently and may have added to my demise there. In answer to my frusrations with AnnFromCA, I invented StanNotFromCA. Everyone

    • kesmarn says:

AC is like Ann Coulter in that she’s smart enough to know better, but chooses--who knows why--to say what she says for its annoyance value. She’s extremely good at going for the Achille’s heel and has an almost eerie ability to sense where that is for any given person or group.
The one really memorable moment I had with her was when I caught her in a very blatant and obvious self-contradiction on the SAME thread.
Every time she posted a sanctimonious lecture to the left on “being irresponsible, living in debt, and making foolish decisions,” I re-posted her own words in which she had said that she was “owned body and soul by the banks.” She actually said: “You got me.” After the 4th time I posted her own quotation, she sheepishly gave up and left.
I was actually a little embarrassed to be so pleased at whupping a kid, but she sure had it coming.

      • FeloniousMonk says:

I found the day I got tired of hearing about free government this and that from her and reminded her she was going to a (socialistic) state university where her tuition didn’t meet the cost of her education very enjoyable. Called herself a “free rider” and I chose to just say I wouldn’t touch the term, even understanding how she chose to use it. Didn’t get much more on that one out of her.

        • PepeLepew says:

What I remember about AC is her railing about publicly-funded insurance, then blurting out that her father is an Air Force officer, so she gets insurance through his (socialist) U.S.-funded medical plan. Now her latest version of events is that her father is a DEA prosecutor. She’s some piece of work.

          • FeloniousMonk says:

She also started in on the concept of allowing people with preconditions in as being bad. Now considering that when anyone goes to work for a company that has a group policy may also have preconditions which, because it is a group policy, makes them not excluded from coverage, her arguement was very bogus.

Somehow I picture her not getting a degree for a living but for social contact, and going after a well-to-do spouse.

            • kesmarn says:

The sad thing is that she has no clue about what life may have in store for her. I don’t wish harm on anyone, but--even if she marries the well-to-well financier--there’s no guarantee that her life will never include a handicapped child, a devastating diagnosis, a painful infidelity, bankruptcy…whatever.
She seems ill equipped to deal with any of that because she still has the classic delusion of the naive: namely, that we can control what happens to us.

              Oy.How little she knows.

            • FeloniousMonk says:

She’s young, she thinks she’s invincible. I told her not all of us were as lucky as her to reach the age of 20 unscathed by life, but she just scoffed at that. I too wish her no ill will, but when something happens in life, she will either be deeply wounded or be in utter denial.

              Any votes on which?

            • KQuark says:

You are so right Kesmarn just the fact that she uses her real name shows how naive she is. I warned her that all the trolls that love her now will be the first predictors she will have to beat back in real life.

            • escribacat says:

              Well said, k.

    • nicole473 says:

      Agree on many levels.

      Who is “AC”, btw?

Ramirez is dangerous. Glad more repubs are not more like him, lol. :)

Flossy makes me want to bash my screen in, and looneybin makes me want to report him to his mother.

Anyway, really glad you’re here, although I hope you’ll maintain a sock or two to join in over there when needed.

      • FeloniousMonk says:

As noted in a reply above, my current quiet sock is DevastationManor. Although there may be a new monk sock coming, since the sock I tried to replace Felonious with was ScottJoplinsGhost, which they got rid of as soon as adey started to try to get my fanbase back, so I was thinking GhostMonk might not be a bad choice, or Spirit of StMonkus.

But as I said, right now I’m satisfied being out of the stadium, without the roar of the populus as they watch the gladiators.

        • BigDogMom says:

I like Spirit of St. Monkus if it were sent to the floor for a vote…How are you, raining like cats and big dogs here in CT, but it’s bringing down all the leaves which is good thing…work smart, not hard, my motto…

          • FeloniousMonk says:

I’ll think about that. I do like the wordplay in it.

I’m alright, although when it gets into the 50s in Phoenix I feel cold. I have to travel towards Sedona to be able to see fall colors.

Working on the jobsearch. When you’re in your mid 50s and your industry is in the doldrums and perhaps has gone through a major structural change do to globalization, and your experience used degree is not the best one for many employers, it is difficult. It’s a pity my MBA has sat unused. But right now everyone wants serious experience (well, there’s a lot of people to chose from) and, of course, there is that little age issue. Something will come up but it is hard to maintain a positive attitude after an extended time, especially when your COBRA coverage is ending soon. Sorry if it’s too much info.

            • nicole473 says:

Mid-fifties here too, although I hate to admit it.

I’m an artist, and people are not buying a lot of art right now, which didn’t concern me until my divorce was final in July.
Now, no insurance, no job, and a 19-year-old in college.
              Yikes……….

            • escribacat says:

Hey FelMonk. I’m in a similar situation. Early 50s. Seriously under employed at the moment (technical writer). No insurance, can’t get it due to pre-existing condition (back probs). Outsourcing has decimated the high tech job market around Denver. I’ve been working on a mystery novel but no luck selling it so far. Trying to stay optimistic……

            • FeloniousMonk says:

Understood. Aerospace systems engineer. Huge amounts of offshore outsourcing to India, China, Russia, you name it.
If you’re not a holder of a current active security clearance, it’s pretty sad. And few of the jobs are coming back.

            • BigDogMom says:

              Not too much info, keep positive, I’m 51 and have lost quite a few Bookkeeping Clients due to the ‘economy’ and my Landscape Design business is hanging on a by a thread….I decided to go back to the belief system of knock and it shall be opened for you, yep, the old universal law…not the “The Secret” type..the basic, write it down and make it happen…started to do that last week and really got precise on what I wanted and wouldn’t you know I got a call from a potential new client…it does work, what we think, we create…so keep your spirits up, what you want will come to you, you just have to be very specific….:}

      • escribacat says:

        AC is Andrea Castillo.

    • escribacat says:

I’m interested to see someone else use the term “addiction.” I have to hand it to AH. Though I don’t trust her in the least, the way they set up the comments was brilliant — especially with the fanning idea. I think that’s what brings a lot of people there and part of what makes it addicting. It’s that little reward you get for saying the right thing at the right time.

Anyone else remember that guy Johnny something who said he had a surf shop in SD (turned out to be some long-time user posing as a Gidget-like character…very bizarre). His posts were mostly “fan me! fan me!” There was a female poster doing the same thing. They both disappeared after a few days — are probably someone else now.

I have to say that HP is interesting for more than just political discussion. It’s a fascinating sociological study. The cliques and alliances and battles and different socks and the nutcases. It’s a fascinating view of the full political spectrum too, from far left to far right. The person who drives me nuts worse than anyone is Marcos. She is so far left she’s become rightwing. I guess that’s another thing that keeps me going back.

Now, having described why I believe I am addicted to the damn place, my most strident objection is to the blatant and mindless censorship. They can put “fuck” in a headline but no commenter can say it. How hypocritical is that? But the worst part is that the most innocuous comments are scrubbed. It makes absolutely no sense why one comment is scrubbed and the next isn’t. The paranoid in me says that the people doing it are having a good laugh at our expense — a nice mind fuck.

My other concern, of course, is that Arianna Huffington is a frigging phony and I can’t stand her!

      • KQuark says:

People like to post where they feel they belong in some way. For that reason the whole fanning process on Huffy is genius because it instantly creates a false community. People like to post with people they agree with most of the time. There is nothing wrong with that. I think it’s more human nature not an addiction.

      • bluejoni2525 says:

Hi there I’m still trying to get used to it here. I haven’t posted much yet. I do love reading all my favorites here though. You caught my eye when you mentioned Marcos. That is Marcos S. if I am not mistaken right?? The other day I was going back and forth with her and she threatened me about not adhering to HP policy and how bad things happen to those who don’t!! I told her that I didn’t take kindly to threats and she couldn’t take any criticism. What a bully ! I don’t mean to bring that negativity here, but I thought it was interesting.I don’t know what they are thinking over there because they’re driving out great posters. I guess that is it for now. Bluejoni2525

      • nicole473 says:

*sigh* I confess to an addiction as well, escriba. I did manage to stay off it completely for several months, but once I came back, it only got worse.

Ah well, the Planet is helping me to control it more. :)

      • FeloniousMonk says:

It’s not just the use of words that they themselves have used, but proper names. An article about John McCain. Don’t use his name in a comment, it might get deleted. And never, ever, even in an article talking about HP, say Huffington Post. Gone in the wink of an eye.

But I’m not having DTs this morning from having my profile pulled, there is far more in the world out there that is satisfying. But I do wish that people in the MSM would not suddenly have decided that Arianna is the face of the blogging progressive community. Like when Pat Buchanan comes on, I either change channels or mute it.

Now it’s a beautiful, albeit cool, morning here in the Sonoran Desert and I’ve got a piece to write.

    • VegasBabe says:

Well, I am probably a really realy lot older than you 😉 but that’s ok. What I have discovered in my dotage, and this is and can be enormously difficult, is the necessity of respecting others opinions. AC is a nuisance, but “it’s” and I use that term loosely, posts are articulate, sound, and even, dare I say it, occasionally reasonable. I just don’t happen to agree with “it” on, jeepers, anything. I didn’t know it was suppose to be a PUMA. That answers a few things for me. I don’t mind Rami at all. He has never insulted me and been rude that I have seen. He is a Republican, simple as that. I’m a Democrat. I have liked several of your posts though Felonious and even fanned you not long ago. I like it here. It’s open, friendly, and I learn more here than I do at Huffie anyway so….glad your here and hope to read you soon and see lots of ya!! ;;)

      • KQuark says:

I’ll never forgive AC for making some disgusting comments about SCOTUS Sotomayor’s appearance. I just don’t have the time of day for people who are ugly on the inside.

      • FeloniousMonk says:

BTW, I’m just past mid fifties. And this is the first time in my life I feel I can say I’m a progressive without cowering.

      • FeloniousMonk says:

I have an issue when AC pulls talking points and not facts. It’s as simple as that. The same with Flossy. Both are intelligent enough to understand historical fact, but often take on ideological mythologies (my word for the day). I don’t get everything right, but I also try to verify facts and don’t go down the road of ideological history. Example: I highly respect FDR but do understand where he was wrong and what the realities of his world were. Example: The “bad” Jimmy Carter. I’m sorry, but an external view taken back with clear knowledge shows that Jimmy was more than what many gave him credit for, including militarily, and the economy had shifted before his administration as the new world reality of Arab oil strength became apparent.

But, as I’ve said, I’m walking away from HP. It’s healthier to do so. Although right now, if I chose to keep it, DevastationManor is what I have available to me. If I want frustration, I can go to my local hobby store and talk to the retired right wing marine. NOT. Have a good day.

    • Grabamop says:

Hi Felonious! Welcome. I am grabamop here, and Obama20082012 on the HP site!

      • FeloniousMonk says:

Thanks for the attempted warning the other day. Sometimes I chose to go down the risky road because no other road is offered. That’s what HP had become. With no feedback allowed that is disagreeing with policy of the queen, she has effectively isolated herself from reality. I would rather wander the wastelands than conform to a system where free expression of disagreement is stifled.

  12. nicole473 says:

    Welcome, KarateKid!!

I think you’ll enjoy the ability to freely express yourself here, with out a need for subterfuge. And then there’s all the delightful company……..(yes, that would be us 😉 )

Someone said that Ann had been posting on no quarter (and said that it’s a racist site). Not too surprising.

I don’t understand, and I guess I never will, what causes people to hate others for immutable characteristics.

    • KevenSeven says:

I used to like the guy at NoQuarter, as he is/was a friend of Valerie Plame, and if you were at Huff back in those days, you would know that I was very engaged in that debate.

But he has run right off the rails. He was the first among the PUMAs.

  13. BigDogMom says:

Morning, Don’t get me started on:

    I AM ANN FROM CA

I went off on her the other day, she just pushed a button in me, from then on I couldn’t stop, it wasn’t even a controversal statement that she made, it was a me, me statement that set me in motion.

I had what Chasethis would call ‘Potty Mouth’…I’m suprised that I wasn’t banned, but then again it may have been what they, the mods, would have wanted to get the ball rolling, and to push the number of clicks up $$$.

Here I seemed to be far more relaxed and willing to get more into a discussion than a tit for tat one line discourse…

    • Kalima says:

Ann from CA is just a PUMA wannabe, she appeared during the Primaries saying she was for Hillary and lashed out at Obama at every opportunity. Hillary lost, Ann is still there for the sole purpose of stirring it up. I doubt very much if she’s even a Dem, ignore her if you can, she seems to have a screw loose.

      • BigDogMom says:

Reading ‘I am Ann from Ca’, as I call her, postings I have figured out that she is a lonely middle age to older women, that takes care of her grandkids, has lost her husband, (not sure if he left her), and is a control freak…do as I say, for I am Ann from Ca and I know…I normally would have fobbed her off, but this time she went over a line that I have in my head and heart….I have problems with someone like her telling others what they should do as if it were fact, with no regard to what was being discussed at the time…it’s the look at me I know that I have a problem with…Oh, well

        • nicole473 says:

She’s currently defending Palin again. Big surprise. Not.

          http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/27/levi-johnston-on-cbs-earl_n_335866.html

          • Kalima says:

I’m happy to say that Huffington/Puffington doesn’t interest me anymore, I stopped posting in April and my “addiction” was cured after a whole bunch of us decided we had had enough. It took a few months to get the bitter taste out of my mouth.

Anyone dumb enough to defend a silly goose like Palin, either needs to go back to school, move to Alaska or have their head examined. Admitting that she has any merit, should be a life long embarrassment for anyone with an IQ higher than their waist size.

        • Kalima says:

She boasted that she was working for Hillary’s campaign, no one believed a word. I’m surprised she is still there strutting her stuff, she wasn’t well liked last year exactly for this know-it-all attitude.

I agree that there have been and still are some very confused and lonely people there. I used to step away from my computer, make some tea, feed the cats and often found she was gone when I returned. Poor “Eleanor Rigby.”

    • nicole473 says:

BDM, that happens to me all the time on HP. The trolls so infuriate me that I just lose it. Counterproductive, I know, but sometimes, for some of us, unavoidable.

      • BigDogMom says:

The article at the time was the H1N1 flu and should you get a vaccine. A lot of posters were on the fence and wanted to hear what others were going to do, which is fair…then as usual it just degenerated into what this admin is not doing, of course H1N1 must have been their fault…yadda, yadda, yadda….

        • nicole473 says:

You know, that happens so often on the vaccine articles. Unfortunately, a large part of it is caused by Arianna’s love for posting crap science articles. I didn’t read that one, so I don’t know what was said. Do you have a link still?

  14. GreatGrannie says:

Hi, KarateKid! I was on HP yesterday (as chillfactor) and it really was disgusting! I lost two fans because their profiles were deleted. The board is beginning to display Arianna’s true stance in the political spectrum and she is not in the liberal camp. It is so very nice to be able to come here, express my opinion, and leave without feeling so sick at heart!
